An update regarding upgrade to AmEx contactless card. I just applied for it at The Gardens card centre.
Initially, the staff declined my request saying there is no such contactless card for AmEx. Luckily my colleague was with me, so showed her renewed card. They checked and came back telling I can replace it.
Unfortunately, going through card centre will not get this replaced on the same day unlike my Ikhwan MC replacement which I got it few hours later. It has to go back to HQ and takes 7 working days. I will collect from The Gardens when it is here.
From tomorrow onward, my card will be blocked until new card arrives. During this period, not even online transactions can be done. Staff helped me to fill in the form and put it as "broken" for the reason and replacement will be F.O.C.

My experience almost similiar as fruitie here
only differences is i call them and blasted them and insist on paywave Amex (they keep saying no such thing) then i ask her to call her manager.
Manager came told me will check and update back. sure enough told me got ok can approved. the rest is same as fruitie blah blah 7 working days
same card number, etc etc
i din't even use broken card tactics.

funny i can use my card until i activate the new one.

You sure can use? Maybe just for today as the staff mentioned, tomorrow onward will be blocked.
Just curious why can’t use the card when they r just replacing with contactless card.. last time when we receive those paywave/ contactless card Pin n Pay card time also never block existing card?
Or maybe because the reason for replacement is due to card / chip faulty?
