not everyone has multiple cards to begin with.

there could be newbies who just gotten their 1st cc, so m2c is best for them, even m2c visa/mc. until they've gotten other cards, m2c combo is best to serve its purpose.

I don't see why you will take this card if you are not into cash back / special benefit from the AMEX card. There is other much better Visa card around even for Maybank. They came out this card with AMEX just to boost AMEX enrolment as AMEX is not really in demand especially for newbies.

Especially with the SST of RM25 per card. That is why most will cut off the VISA card if given the choice.

The moment SST came in, maybank 2 card lost their trademark.

does anyone know whether maxis direct debit needs a minimum amount to go through? i.e. TM unifi needs atleast RM20 in bill or else direct debit will not work...

Not needed. Even UniFi does not have minimum amount for direct debit to go thru, the minimum of RM20 is for u to get the Autopay rebate.

So if i fully prepay my bill early on, and the day its suppose to auto debit on statement date, it will basically do nothing?

Yes, if the amount is less than RM0 after statement is generated, it will do nothing.

I started to use M2card first. Spent nearly 8000 by using Visa. After I joined lowyat forum, I applied for Barcelona vs. I just cancelled 2card visa recently.

Just called up to remove the cancelled card from M2U, apparently you need to mention this when you cancel the card, else you will have to call up again int he future.
