Few days ago I managed to submit the order, then I received Ninja Van notification about Astro delivery.

Today, I received the Astro Ulti Box from City-Link Express. The package only came with Astro Ulti Box hardware, but no SIM card included. I suppose the SIM card should be delivering via Ninja Van?

I have setup the hardware with LAN cable, power cable and HDMI cable to TV. The update seems to be taking forever... stuck at "Please do not unplug or turn off your box" after downloaded the update files and reboot. Is it normal?

Received the Astro SIM card from Ninja Van after posting the above message.

But the Ulti Box still stays at "Please do not unplug or turn off your box", I called to the Astro center and the support personnel asked me to force turn off the device, so I did hold on the power button on the device for 5 seconds to turn it off. Switched off power adapter, inserted SIM card (chip facing down), turn back on and same screen. Support personnel said just leave it for some time and if it does not go through after an hour, contact them again.

To answer your previous post, yes, they send the sim and box seperately. This is because the sim and box are paired with each other, and stealing one of them without the other is useless since they won't work wtih other box/sim combination

I might have to cancel my Transvision subscription soon.
They finally dropped Lifetime and CI today, and long after they have dropped History, Hits and many more.
Lots of unfamiliar channels (like Cartoons TV, Movies News, and so on) had replaced those channels.

They really sacrificed a lot of channels just to save their operations money.

I'm gonna miss a lot of memories with it, now we had to depend on digital OTA TV, and even streaming.
The Pay TV market is really struggling a lot these days. Even in Indonesia.

Was watching EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE on Astro Ultrabox today. They seems to be cutting out scenes and muting profanities on HBO Ultrabox Ondemand movies. Even profanities are being muted.

Oddly when played back on HBOGO app, it's uncut. Have they decided to start chopping up movies again on over the air transmissions?

Yeah, also pirated IPTV are becoming increasingly easier to procure, hence the large fine that Astro wants for offenders.
While I do feel that pay tv are expensive (and in some cases, TOO expensive), some people who pirates has in their mind that even if they pirate, these pay-tv will still exists.
Even tho in an ironically, if everyone pirates, then why these pay-tv wants to continue, and if they stop, who can the pirates pirate from then?

One more things is, Pirate can easily sort the feed at least base on the latest content by year and rating.

While Astro catchup/boxsets/Movie cannot feed TA correctly with the end user watching behavior (feed).

The best concept of business is making money using other people's money. In this case it is similar, making money out of other people expenses.

Subscribe Astro full packages and then starts own pay TV channel. Used to be more expensive but cheaper than Astro, but due to competition monthly subscription dropped. Some is even one time pay when purchase Android box.

I once asked how to maintained operating cost with one time payment. The person did not answer but instead told me that they also have service with monthly pay. I guess the one with one time payment business model is to continuously get new subscribers but this will diminish eventually.

What is Astro IPTV dedicated VLAN ID? And what is the bandwidth for that particular vlan?

They seem follow UniFi TV dedicated vlan 600 for IPTV, a good decision.

Unifi still got VLAN? YOu can buy any Android box and use your own wireless router with no special setting already as far as I know. You can even use browser just like Disney+ or Netflix.

Yes unifi still have dedicated VLAN for STB box.

Some ppl prefer dedicated / separated line for IPTV use.

FYI recently I visit one of my customer home and I founded Astro box is connected [LAN to TM MODEM LAN port 2] and ROUTER [LAN connected to TM MODEM LAN port 1]. So I guess Astro must have dedicated line for IPTV.

Astro has terminated VLAN IPTV service to customers since December 2022. For those who use Astro IPTV will be transferred to Astro Ultra/Ulti Plug&Play

Seems weird, seems like using google TV OS multiroom apps to watch Astro channel.

If that the case all live sport will have some delay? Like EPL, F1 etc...

Yeah. One off payment (lifetime) deal for pirated IPTV never makes sense for me. But then again in Europe, the MO of these lifetime IPTVs are usually open an IPTV service, fleece the customer as much as they can, shut down the service suddenly, and then re-open another service with another name. Rinse and repeat. Those whose plan involves monthly payments usually last longer.

Eh? You must have missed the conversation when some of us here (me included) we complaining about the delay when using Astro Plug and Play. I even reverted my Ultrabox to satellite to watch F1 without delay last year.

Earlier I ad know about this. So in summary using IPTV fibre / multiroom apps all will getting delay.

Those who don't mind about delay can use multiroom apps without the satellite then.

yeah. The delay is not much tho, around 30 seconds (unifi TV's delay is around 1 minute++. Gile). so if you don't mind a half a minute delay, the multiroom app is good enough

Sadly that's how it goes with Astro. They must follow the set regulations in order to fit the 'typical Malaysian audience'.
Better just stream off HBO GO, it's a safer place there.
