Don't get me wrong though, I too am indeed looking for a full PC housing (transparent or opaque) switch that's cheap enough to just harvest its housing. But, as horns mentioned, most such switches still cost more than RM2/each, still not exactly worthwhile to just harvest for housing.

Aliaz looks great but sound is lacking. Last week I just ordered 30pcs of Outemu Sky, which has a green nylon bottom with SMD cutout. And also 30 pcs of transparent polycarbonate Outemu top cases. Hoping to get best of both worlds.

Will replace my 80g Aliaz I currently have on my XD24 cospad and see.

right, aliaz is a silent tactile. its sound is muted by silencing sliders significantly. you can just replace the sliders with normal ones to restore the sound.

also, there are tactile users that have some tactile switch formulas that are worth trying out at mymkb.

I'm using 70g. the lack of sound is exactly why i like it. and it felt very solid. Ordered some moyu black as well, hopefully it'll be as interesting as aliaz.

Yo guys, need some recommendation on linear switches.

Been using Topre for quite a long time and didn't keep myself updated with the latest switches, and my linear switches knowledge is only up until Tealios (lolz). Saw those Gateron ink switches and look interesting.

Anyone here used mx silent red here before? Wondering how they feel (scratchy?) etc.

you didn't miss anything big i guess. the following are some that might interest you:

1. nk/kailh cream (pom-based housings, unique sound profile);
2. gateron inks (yellow, black);
3. c3 tangerine rev2 (uhmwpe housings);
4. alpaca (by durock; durock is gaining more popularity these days);
5. giant v2 (by jwk; its stock spring is a progressive spring)

there are some others, but i don't keep track of them, e.g., marshmallow by thicc thock; yok panda; laser by kbddans x mito.

cherry mx silent red is the most scratchy silent switch. however it's really quiet. its upstrokes and bottom-outs are damped.

I'm bored and started randomly browsing MKB related Taobao stores and viewing all their items. Too late I found switch films (stickers actually) on Taobao.
https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a1z0d....id=520482469888

And I remember someone asking about prebuilts with Holy Pandas? If I understand correctly, you can top up a bit and get imitation Holy Pandas on this hot swap full size board.

Yes I'm aware. But after having a few boards only I realised I like the thock sound of Cherry nylon black bottoms. Which led me to ask about black nylon bottoms with SMD cutouts recently.

Not really excited about anything smaller than 75%, but happy for you anyway. Looks like some high end stuff.

those are stickers. like what irsyadfy pointed out, it's not as convenient as pc-based films. i think the taobao link to switch films was posted at mymkb fb group before.

now i got it. i prefer the typing feel and sound profile of nylon housings too smile.gif

right, we must get what we are excited about, or else it will be a pure waste. it's part of my experiments about plate types. this time it's about thick plates.

later i might write more about the 65% hot-swap kit from melgeek, z70 ultra, https://www.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboard...nical_keyboard/ it's like a one-time group buy thing. hopefully they will have plans to release revisions in future. tbh, in terms of completeness of a kit, i think it's much better than drop's alt. however, there are still things that are not working right for us users.

Guys, im looking at Tecware keyboard, since it is highly recommended , and not expensive. I figure it is worth giving it a try. I have a few question, particularly with its keycap... I definitely not a fan of its keycap and the gamer font they use.. I want to ask if these keycaps standardized , and I can swap them with custom keycap anytime? Also actually im more interested in the low profile switches like the Tecware Phantom L, same thing, is this low profile keycap easy to find replacement? Any other low profile switches mkb can recommend? I think i should like low profile better... tried the logitec G915, I like the low profile.. but the price can cost me an arm.

I just got the Phantom L! I'm about to get some cheapo pbt keycaps from Lazada for it just because I really hate the current fonts lol. From my research I think only cherry and dsa profiles will be suitable for this one.

tecware boards are 'highly recommended', mainly because it's the closest thing that can fit to the budget of most people. it also has potentials to be tuned to certain extents by beginners.

low-profile switches still needs time to be popular, to create opportunities and confidence for manufacturers to invest on the right tools to mass-produce things like key caps for them. until then, options for replacement key caps will be limited.

as for compatibility, due to different implementations from manufacturers, and different designs of stems in certain low-profile switches and stabilizers, it's better to do more research first.
