Redmi 5, Redmi 5 Plus specifications

The dual-SIM (Nano-SIM) Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus bear nearly identical specifications,
as we mentioned, with only a few differences.
The Redmi 5 sports a 5.7-inch HD+ (720x1440 pixels) 18:9 display with a 282ppi pixel density and a 72 percent NTSC colour gamut,
while the Redmi 5 Plus sports a 5.99-inch full-HD+ (1080x2160 pixels) 18:9 display with a 403ppi pixel density
and a 84 percent NTSC colour gamut.
The former is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 450 SoC clocked at up to 1.8GHz,
while the latter is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 625 SoC clocked at up 2GHz.
RAM options on the Redmi 5 are 2GB and 3GB, whereas the Redmi 5 Plus offers 3GB and 4GB options.
Both smartphones bear the same cameras. The Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus offer a 12-megapixel rear camera with a 1.25-micron pixel sensor,
an f/2.2 aperture, PDAF, and flash, while they also sport a 5-megapixel front camera with a soft-light selfie flash module.
The company is also touting the inclusion of its Beautify 3.0 app, for improved portraits.
They both come with fingerprint sensors on the rear panel, forgoing the home button at the front completely.
As for storage, the Xiaomi Redmi 5 offers 16GB or 32GB of inbuilt storage, expandable via microSD card.
The Redmi 5 Plus on the other hand offers 32GB or 64GB of inbuilt storage, also expandable.
The smartphones offer standard connectivity options, such as 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 (b/g/n on Redmi 5 and a/b/g/n on Redmi 5 Plus),

The former measures 151.8x72.8x7.7mm and weighs 157 grams, while the latter measures 158.5x75.45x8.05mm and weighs 180 grams.

SD626 or SD630 for sure.. Mi Note 3 already use SD660. Xiaomi are not gonna use SD660 for their redmi lineup coz SD660 chip basically SD820 minus Adreno 530

32gb internal? Are we going backward? But some users wouldn't mind if the price is reasonable.

Yup, xiaomi already adopted the longer sim tray (2 sim + sd slot) on Redmi note 5A model.

Hopefully they'll improve the camera algorithm.

I wish they come out with a successor to Redmi 4 Prime for global release. I hate the enormous size of my Redmi Note 4X currently. Hardly can fit into a pocket. Even it does, it really takes the space inside and makes my movement a bit stiff.

redmi 5 will be 5.7" 18:9 apparently(so normal 5" size), also smaller battery so will be lighter too, those 4k battery phones damn heavy. I target that phone, sad will need wait next year to get in malaysia.

SoC seems good to me but the screen size though. With that size, they probably make it wider or longer. The latter seems more realistic. Why can't they just retain the original screen size while reducing the phone size in overall? I wished they did that. And full hd.

Usually 6" can fit with 5.5" phone size.
If 5" phone can able to fit with 5.5" phone size only.

From now on all phones will be 18:9, 16:9 will be hard to sell. You compare them side by side at shops then you'll understand.

Just check the dimensions. From personal experience smaller battery same weight will feel lighter.

12mp 1.25 micron pixel camera. I hope they use Sony IMX386 sensor in this phone.

So far Sony sensor can do cheaper


But I'm damn happy for this Redmi 5 Plus selling 1299RMB for 4gb/64gb the specs can match with Mi A1 / Mi 5X.

Between Mi A1 or REDMI 5 PLUS? Which one is more "faster", not much laggy..I did google the specs but as I said, Im noob with the phone part and etc

Both are using same SoC so their performance are on the same level.

Thats on the hardware part. If to consider software, Mi a1 should be generally smoother due to barebone stock android compared to heavier miui on redmi 5.

I've been reading tieba seems like most bought the redmi 5+, not much comment on the 5. 5+ is using tianma incell screen same screen as honour v10, quite good apparently. Wonder how long have to wait for MY warranty unit... 😑

Apart from screen resolution, the usb port is disappointing. We're getting into 2018 now where manufacturers should be adapting usb c by now.

Recently just clear off my current micro usb mi phone instead of usb C.
Just one type for do all.
If still come with micro usb, die die have to bring extra usb cable or adapter lol.
