To comply with AMLATFA, the source of fund especially cash is very crucial.
Banks nowadays won't really want to accept heavy deposit of untraceable cash.

That's why during open accounting stage, the basic screening test is to ensure that the account that you open at that particular branch has real purpose; not for suspicious activities inclusive not restricted to money laundering. The basic test is to provide proof that you're living or working nearby.

If you're opening privileged banking account service, they'll ask more questions like an interview session.

So RHB is the best? I tried applying for their credit card but no success. I heard is not easy to get RHB credit card, especially for self employed.

And OCBC even not accepting credit card applications now.

So their 360 accounts cannot "work" without a credit card from them.

What other banks offer this kind of conditional savings acct where you spend with CC will get interest into the savings acct...?

Debit card not suitable for my spending circumstances. I am planning to spend online at foreign site, not local. And I doubt they accept debit cards.

i won't recommend direct usage due to

1) exposure of your entire account balance to fraud
2) most foreign shopping website have somewhat weaker security

that said, being a debit card you can top up to ewallets. Since you plan on spending on foreign websites, u can top up to Bigpay which in the past has very good forex rates. your fraud exposure is also limited by how much u maintain in the card, and you can withdraw up to RM2k monthly quite easily via transfer (which depending on your situation, can be used to cycle into the account for the monthly deposit requirement)

i would say it is a simple way to get 1.8% p.a which is better than some of the other accounts offered by other banks. certainly makes their smartsavers obsolete.

Anyone signing up - just move 100% to save pot since they will auto adjust balance with no penalty to u

There're 3 in the market:

1. RHB Smart Account @ 2.85%
2. SC Privileged Saver @ 2.6%
3. OCBC 360 @ 2.45%

Each has its own unique requirements to fulfill.

HSBC amanah perks@work promotion is back until july 2021
3.25% max with criteria below
1) 1.75% for incremental balance
2) 0.75% for paying 3 bill
3) 0.75% for spending 1k using hsbc amanh credit /debit card.

Quite a good deal when alternate with RHB / Std chart.
