Samsung 2018 Qled have been listed rin Samsung Malaysia website. currently only 65" Q7FN got the RRP. the RRP is RM15,999.99. WTF !!!!!! Gila markup.

As comparison the same model in US RRP is USD2,599.99.

Let say take exh rate at 4.5. USD2,599.99x4.5+GST=RM12,402.00.

RM4000 for shipping and profit. that is alot.

Forget the Q7, it have better in color gamut if compared to MU7000, the rest almost similar to MU7000. This is compare between 2017 model, I believe 2018 is similar.

Go for Q9 instead 😁

If Q7 is that overpriced, Q9 would be uber priced.

I'm the TS originally asking for recommendation for the TV. I ended up getting the LG 65SJ850T (http://www.lg.com/my/tvs/lg-65SJ850T)

Since purchasing it last year around October till now, I've had the panel replaced once due to vertical line appearing while watching the TV (usually around 1-2 hours in)

After replacement, the same problem has started appearing again.

I'm not sure if I got a lemon unit or this model is defective, anyway it's so heartbreaking to see my almost brand new TV like this T.T

I've also found out the line goes away if I apply gentle pressure at the bottom edge where it appears. Just a gentle press and it goes away.

Waiting for LG to come again for the 2nd round. In the meantime, any idea on why this is happening / how to fix this?

Attached Image

EDIT: Can't rotate picture, keeps uploading sideways sweat.gif

FWIW, I think the local dimming feature advertised for this model is not worth it. The picture quality is nice, but the local dimming usually results in patchy white spots all over as the TV tries to "switch off" all the dark areas so that it appears blacker.

don't think you can fix it. perhaps try switching on aircon or try putting a fan to see if the problem go away since you said it only appear after 1-2 hours.

When it comes to LED TV, Samsung Quantum Dot & QLED TVs are the best choices in terms of value (maybe not the 2017 QLED line though..)

OLED, LG's offerings are still the best in terms of value. Cheaper, identical or better performance than other brands and easier to find.

I'm still happily enjoying my Samsung Quantum Dot TV 65KS7500. If you guys can find any 2016 Quantum Dot TVs for cheap, grab it! They're still better than most TVs and they can still give the 2018 QLED line a run for their money.

KS models are almost entirely gone. A few that I have seen were getting more & more expensive. Coupled with their allegedly poor build quality (back panel coming off), IMO they represent poor value now.

If the price is more expensive than it should be, then yes, it is low in value. Not too concerned about the back panel though. Something that can be easily fixed by Samsung since it's glue-based.

I got mine about RM1000 cheaper than the cheapest price on 11street.my which is why I recommended to grab one if anybody finds it for cheap.

If your looking for budget 65 inch tv go for samsung, the mu6100....if you dig deep enough it is possible to get it for sub rm4k mark....the picture quality is good, va panel so the the black level is good...the input lag is very low, good for gaming, tizen smart tv system is fine,
Just 1 flaw, the viewing angle is terrible tho...u need to watch the it exactly infront of it due to the sweet spot is quite small....then again its a bloody big tv why you want to watch it off ange anyway..

Any latest promo for 65” TV.

With GST abolishment, Raya promotions, World Cup promotions and clearing stock of 2017 models. June should be the best time to get a TV.

I’m thinking of a Sony 7000E vs 8500E.

RM5k vs RM7k

A good price would probably be RM4k vs RM6k

U can get 65in 8500E (pro model) at around 6k. Look at the lowest sales forum.

I got mine for RM8K (at the time, cheapest from 11street was RM8.9K) from Banhuat.com, a shop based in Penang. Delivered via CityLink and arrived in 2 days. Very fast service and helpful salespeople. It was on sale so I doubt they have any in stock now though.

UPDATE: just checked, they have a 65 inch Samsung MU9000 set for RM7,999. Pretty good deal for a TV with decent HDR performance, IMHO. Although if it was up to me, I would probably save up for another RM2k and then get the LG 65-inch C6 OLED TV from Desa Home Theatre for RM9999.

If HDR is a dealbreaker, definitely choose the 8500E over 7000E. Wide Colour Gamut is an essential feature.

That's a good price but now even if can find, cannot get for 8k. I saw one at HN Pavillion for RM10,400 and its a display set with a big spot of damaged panel. 2 months ago it was RM8700 (the same exact tv with the damaged panel).

That's a reasonably good deal for a MU9000, will be better if they throw in extra 3 years warranty for that price. Those who are still looking should consider it.

From what I read, the 2018 Q7 is a pretty good buy and quite the upgrade from the 2017 model. 2019 Q9 finally uses full-array! biggrin.gif

Hi sifus,

I'm currently in the hunt for a 65' TV, been reading this thread since the starting and I notice a major siding towards the Sony brand.

Reason I asked is because I have a 4-4.5k budget for the tv, honestly it's just for basic usage such as Astro/occasional downloaded movies/iflix/youtube. Most of the time it's probably gonna just sit there unless I have the time (which I don't).

One Living recommended me the UA65MU6100 (RM4.4K) also the LG 65UJ652T (RM4.6K) and to be frank I'll probably just choose the one with the cheaper pricing.

Thoughts? and thank you very much for your inputs, I'd appreciate it.

For 2017 LCD TV, Sony has the best models with reasonable prices. Samsung screwed up big time with their TVs being worse than 2016 models and substantially more expensive. LG LCD TVs use IPS panels so they are not preferred by most enthusiasts but their OLEDs are good & the cheapest (compared to other brands' OLEDs). Panasonic was also popular for their low & mid end models but Panasonic seems not very interested in marketing their TVs.

So in general for LCD, get a Sony, for OLED get an LG. This is of course an oversimplification because you need to look at specific models and sizes to judge a TV but I hope my summary was helpful.

The 65MU6100 is better than the 65UJ652T and since its also cheaper than the LG, you should just get it since it meets the criteria for your usage. But I think you can find it at RM4k or slightly lower now.
