Perfect. You can register for a free dlinkddns.com account with your router's serial number. The account is hosted by dyn.com so will work with any router that supports dyn.com/dyndns.org ddns. Most routers do.

Also, if you own any domains, a few registrars offer free ddns using a sub-domain. Routers usually do not support this (Mikrotiks do) so you update it with an app on a computer.

Thanks very much for this useful tip.

Jump to 1:20 of the above video. It says it is recommended that all UniFi equipment be placed near the main TV for residential installation or main computer for business installation.

I'm getting residential UniFi. But is it wise to go against their recommendation and place the router next to my computer rather than my TV?

Yes you can install anywhere in your house. Just tell the technician but do you need the hypptv?

you should install the router at the centre of the house to get maximum connectivity from all corners and levels of the house

Yes I want HyppTV. I plan to connect the HyppTV set-top box to the router wirelessly via WiFi.

This is only a guide.
Actual location is your preference. If the technician agrees then proceed.

It's near the Main TV so that you don't need to run cables from your router to the set top box. I have my router in a room and have an Ethernet cable all the way to the living room, it doesn't really matter.

For having all devices accessing the Internet via WiFi, it depends on the range and interference from other nearby WiFi access points.

I would always prefer wired connections, but if dropping a connection once in a while is not a big issue for you, then I don't see any problem.

If you re-login like that and refresh so fast (probably refresh F5 once every 5 seconds?), definitely it will show high cpu usage as the OS needs to update the web interface and gather statistics from other daemon/module.

Strange, I don't encounter any wireless issue.  hmm.gif
Which frequency? 2.4ghz or 5ghz? Perhaps congestion issue on 2.4ghz?
I usually wait for a minute before refresh the admin interface. Thrice i get the cpu load is high. The wireless signal for 5ghz is not stable on my iphone 7+.

Hmm, then I guess that the normal CPU load. Can't do much.

About that 5Ghz issue, is it specific for iphone7 only?

1st test
IOS11?
Try disabling Wi-Fi Networking under Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services
This only doesn't disable your wifi, only location service that use wifi.

2nd test
Set 5ghz channel bandwidth to 20mhz and test.

All my devices that uses the router. Sometime its okay, sometimes not. I've turn off my location services long time ago and the device runs at the latest update. I've set the channel bandwidth to 20Mhz before shift to 40Mhz since some website does recommend that for 5ghz, 40MHz is the best bandwidth for 5GHz. So yeah. How is your c1200 going on? However, despite from the high cpu load and unstable wifi, the router does survive without rebooting for the first day. I simply allow the router to overheat to see how the router performs.

Strange, the only time when wifi tends to disconnect temporarily, it is for group rekey interval update.
Can you check if the wireless WPA Group Rekey Interval is set to 0 on both 2.4 and 5ghz?
user posted image

Please enable TX Beamforming for 5ghz and disable the WPS at System Parameter.

Almost 44 hours torrenting session without random restart.......this is on 2.4ghz wifi.

Hmm......got a bad feeling for your case. hmm.gif

Question:
1) Do you plug external HDD to the router USB? ----> Reason, perhaps EHDD is draining too much power?

2) Try lowering the transmit power of both 2.4 and 5 ghz to "Middle" instead of 'High'.

Bonanza = you are getting RM189 for two years only. Then the price will revert back to RM263.94 per month (GST inclusive)
Thank you Surprise + RYE = you are getting RM189 permanantly.

I don't plug an external hdd to my router.

Pardon me if Im rude to you, but i've set middle before shifting to high. I've disabled usb sharing, print server, disable wps, still the cpu load shoots above 50%

I've waited for two minutes before taking the "after" cpu load.

So, we can rule out transmit power issue, lack of power caused by EHDD and CPU load issue (the load still acceptable).
It is not Group Rekey Interval issue either.....

Double check, does the wifi signal totally gone for all devices when the disconnection happen? Such as the SSID suddenly missing?

You may want consider 5ghz inteference possibility from neighbours hmm.gif ?
Despite manufacturers tend to advertise 5ghz being interference free, most tends to omit the fact their routers only support few 5ghz channels. For C1200, the allocated 5Ghz frequency channels are 36 to 48.

36, 40, 44 and 48 available if 20Mhz is selected.
38 and 46 are for 40Mhz ---> Since you select this, there are effectively two 5ghz channels you can use.
Only 42 is used/available if you select 80Mhz. ---> Only one 5Ghz channel, if your neighbour router is very closeby and he/she also use C1200 and force 80Mhz on 5Ghz....well....the interference.....

EDIT:
If I disable Print Server, stop torrenting, disable OpenVPN, disable folder sharing, disable WPS and little connections.
My CPU usage is:
