HELP!!!
My goods shipped from Korea to Malaysia. (skincare) I received a call from 03-8787 2020 telling me my parcel is held by Customs. The lady on the phone told me to go and declare it. Before go, please call Pos Malaysia.

So is this number from Pos Malaysia or Customs at KLIA?? Should I call Pos Malaysia or can actually straight away to KLIA to declare my goods? I need to prepare an invoice? Can I ask from my supplier to prepare an invoice for me and I print it out to show the customs?

My goods is around RM900- RM1k after shipping fees added...But I don't know what's the goods value my supplier written on the form. I already asked her and waiting for her reply.

Anyone with experience could help me about the procedure?

By the way, the retention reason of my goods is High-value goods. Official customs declaration required.

Do they give you anything when they called? Like reference number etc.? Just call Pos Malaysia first then maybe you can decide to go to Custom. Just make sure that you get all the info before going there. I received a letter asking me to collect so to me that's black and white info there..

Yes, I got a ref.no. And confirmed it's from Customs. Why do we have to call Pos Malaysia? Is it in case we want to appoint Pos Malaysia to be our agent?

Actually Pos Malaysia is the handler for your package once it arrives in Malaysia. Therefore you have to clear with them whether to get it yourself or appoint them as agent. Anyway, since you have the ref no. better just go LCCT and settle it yourself. Pos Malaysia is in the same building/area. Usually Custom will ask you to go to Pos Malaysia Customer Service counter/office to get some documents first. After that depends on the item, if kena tax (after opening/checking) you have to go back to the Pos Malaysia counter to ask for total tax, then go pay at Customs.

i think the taxes depend on what category your goods fall into. And how much is your goods value. I believe if your goods is not illegal in M'sia, just pay the tax (If it's needed) and you can take back your parcel.
I have read through a few thread here in LYN. Some said the parcel will only return to you if you pay the tax. It is reasonable if the goods value is high and tax is needed. So I don't think there's any back doors. You can see there's a lot of goods hold by the customs because no one come and declare for it.

Reading the many pages here, can summarise...DON'T buy from overseas online. The chances of getting taxed and tahanned @KASTAM DIRAJA MALAYSIA very high. Actually this department is one of the highest earning revenue department just a few years ago it was said. Now maybe more RMs as there is more traffic. Here are my dilemmas

1. I bought some makeup online from an established USA online shop with insurance. Being one of my first overseas online purchases have to be careful also, the value of the products are about rm80. It has been almost 7 weeks since the first shipment from the seller. After the 4th week, I emailed them to say the items have not arrived and they re-shipped so the 2nd shipment is almost 3 weeks 'old'. I am not optimistic it will arrive. So do i make a claim using the insurance I bought?

2. Me, also bought a book from another American online shop about a week after no.1, it is a 2nd hand book which i paid about rm20 and shipping us9. They don't have insurance but the bookseller has an almost 100% track record of delivery. I have written to them to inform them that the book has not arrived last week and the advised that i wait for another week. If it still doesn't arrive then they will re-ship another copy or refund. So now, after reading about our Kastam, i think i should just ask for refund. Hope no hassle and will get 100% refund but will it be only for the price of the book or along with the shipping cost? Please advice...

3. There are two items 1 is in a parcel (just a Football club jersey that is USED-with visible signs it is used and a DVD documentary) and another is a gift (necktie) in an envelope from Australia. Both were sent about 1 week apart. It has been almost 1 1/2 months since and no news. The senders just used normal air mail (not registered) to send it over. It should only take 10 working days for delivery!

All three situations, nobody has called or sent any letter to me. What should I do? Each parcel has items worth below even rm200.

Please advice me on what i should do, I do want the items which are so little monetary/resale value but of value to me. But it wouldn't be worth it to make the effort to go to LCCT and pay for exhorbitant taxes not to mention petrol etc! They shouldn't be in the first place right since it is sooo little? I can't get into our ol' kastam's website. Not surprised!

Pleaasseee help! Many, many thanks in advance! smile.gif

if got tracking number, just track and see lar.if dun hv,you can't do anything except for waiting.so far i never have problem with kastam(except for some parcels which got delayed.i don't know its the origin country's post office problem or kastam problem).
so far,i think non-registered parcel is not eligible to claim insurance.this is why usually if you are afraid of the parcel got lost, top up some money for registered.
and,i've bought from international sites quite a number of times dy.none of them have any problem.furthermore,i believe that kastam is already improving themselves right now.since i don't see them simply tax people, unlike several years ago.oh ya.i bought something from germany before.guess what.it took them almost 1 month++ to reach my house.and, the sender sent it using air mail somemore.so,i'm not so surprised if you said USA-MALAYSIA parcel haven't reach yet
and, believe it or not.i bought cds from hong kong before.it took them 12 days to sampai my house.

Hey, mine also stated like this. Custom retention reason: High value goods.
You don't receive their call? Their numbers are those 03- 8787 2020 or other lines that similar like that.
Normally one should receive a letter with black and white, telling you about the retention. or receive their calls. Then only you decide to appoint Pos Malaysia as your agent or not.
I think they won't open your box since your status stated like the above. When we are there to declare, we will need to unseal the box in front of them. =)

you check from Pos Malaysia Track and Trace?
Mine in Pos Malaysia system, they just updated till Arrived at inward OE/Receive item at OE
But in Korea Post, they told that it's hold by customs.
Maybe you can go to hongkongpost.com to check their updates.

yes, you can call them. Maybe they will ask you to call 03-87872020 since your item stuck at inward OE. The best way is to call them. Good luck bro! ^^
