oic.... thanks

actually i going to buy some pc hardware from ebay, if total my stuff is exceed RM600 will it be tax? because i heard below RM500 wont tax...
*
Computer items or PC hardware I think is tax exempted. But if electronic items/device like mobile phones I think kena tahan because have to check with SIRIM, pay some license sticker fee (I think RM100+) or something then can get the item. Here's hoping your seller will write it as PC hardware. If not the situation would be your item will kena tahan kastam. Then you have to go explain what it is. If you convince Kastam it is for PC, then you can bring back your item. Wasting time but that's the rule (My friend last time kena, waste petrol and time going to LCCT).

Again anybody please correct me if I am wrong as this is my experience in the last few years. Hoping we can get latest updates on importing stuffs biggrin.gif

True, but if the Kastam cannot identify the item (no details on delivery form/invoice on the package) and its written there cost + shipping more than RM500, sure kena tahan biggrin.gif. Usually have to go there open box show them and explain what it is.

hey,

I bought a table cloth from china. and just now the KLIA custom called me said it kena tahan at the custom there and ask either I want to go there to claim or appointed pos laju malaysia to settle it for me. I never face such problem before. Then I asked how much if I pos laju settle it for me, they said RM49.50 like tat. I said ok, then they ask for my IC number and give me my parcel reference number. I have doubts that:-

- sunday got custom working?
- I called back to the number called to me, 03-87872020, is KLIA custom. But they said operator only work on weekdays, and saturday. Why sunday got ppl call me one?
- I only give them IC number, will I risk?
- This is stated as GIFT on the parcel, but why they still tax me? They said wanna tax me and ask me how much is the parcel. I told them is 2nd hands and below RM150.

Anyone who experience this please clear my doubts, help! I was worry I get tipu ler.....HOW?

I think you need an invoice to show them the price you paid for it. If ebay, I think got invoice you can print and show the total you win. But how come kena tahan? Very big package? shipping expensive?

actually all handbags n bags are subjected to 20%duties n 10% other taxes..
I think these taxes are absorb by the speer...
o/wise you have to hope that yours, being <rm500 n f0r own use, will escape taxes.
good luck!

Actually Pos should send you a letter/notice saying your item is held at Kastam. It will state there all the things to do like pay Pos to settle it for you for a fee (so total is tax + 49.50(Pos's service charge fee) or go to the LCCT to settle yourself. Any letter or notice received yet? If not better wait for it first. You called for status of the item what did Pos say? Did you already pay?

For every item, there should be a tariff code for it. If the product is taxable then they will follow the tax rate based on the code.

Dress usually 30% I think. I think they need to process step by step:
Pos has to go Kastam settle > You have to pay Pos the tax + service fee (49.50) > Pos deliver your item to you house.

Better go straight to LCCT. First you have to go enquire at Pos Service counter. Then they ask you go Kastam counter to get parcel. Then go other counter to open parcel (you have to open it in front of the Kastam staff). Then go back to Pos service counter for counting how much to pay tax (If kena tax). Then pay at Kastam payment counter. Then can bring home parcel. All of this is happening in the same building (Pos building beside LCCT building).

True, if no tax straightaway Kastam chop for release and Pos send the item to us.

Hi,

I want to ask, if I want to order branded perfumes from New York, will I be taxed? How can I escape taxed? I'm ordering about 20 bottles and cost about RM 3000. Btw, I'm living in Sarawak. So it's hard for me to go and claim my things in KL if anything happens.

Help me, I'm new in this thing. Thanks. smile.gif
