Because you already have a credit facility from Maybank (Conventional banking).
So Maybank Islamic don't give you a new credit facility for Islamic CC.

But you may convert the existing credit line from Conventional to Islamic.
The conversion form and checklist can be found at www.maybank2u.com

Can get both. Just submit a physical application as online application has higher tendency to get rejected.

Request Card Centre to convert part of your conventional credit line to Islamic then you can have both.
Eg existing CL (Conventional): RM50000
Request CL (Conventional) RM30000 + CL (Islamic) RM20000.

Email new card application form, supporting documents to Card Centre.
ALSO, attached with a letter to convert part of existing CL to Islamic CL.

May be you have exhausted all the credit limit given to you. I experienced that recently. You can read our experiences

QUOTE(Fantasia @ Jun 24 2025, 05:45 PM)
Guys, I have an enquiries regarding credit card application rejection.

Background:

When I decided to get a car loan from Maybank early this year and I was being offered 2 Platinum cards but I declined the offer. Fast forward, I applied early this month, I applied their Ikhwan Amex card and received the card within a week time. When I applied for 2 Platinum cards shortly after, my application got declined. Upon enquiries through their customer service, they said Maybank have given all the credit limit available to my Ikhwan card and hence they cannot give me any more credit limit for new card application. She said 1 way to work around it is to appeal my application through emailing them to reduce the credit limit given to my Ikhwan Amex and use the remaining credit limit on my 2 Platinum cards.

I find it interesting as I always though Islamic and conventional division are separate entities so each will have its own credit limit. I also did not expect to exhaust my credit limit with a single card cause my UOB One (My only credit card after I cancelled my Pulic Bank Quantum) has more than twice the credit limit.

May I know if anybody encountered the same situation before?

Besides, how high is my chance will my appeal (reducing credit limit on Ikhwan) be if my nett income is just slightly higher than the minimum income for 2 Platinum cards?

Update: My application for 2 Platinum Cards was approved after I reduced the credit limit of my Ikhwan Amex.

In a sense, I think similar circumstance happened to me.

After I came back to Malaysia, the 1st cc I applied and received was Maybank Visa Signature.
Then I realised it does not suit my use case, so I cancelled it. I applied and get Alliance Visa Signature - which I still keep.

Then I get pointed to Maybank 2 Card, I applied and get the Platinum version. Maybank gave credit limit which was approximately 2x my monthly salary then.

Then later, I heard about Maybank Ikhwan Amex Platinum. I applied and get rejected, more or less the same reason as what you experience.
So I called Maybank Customer Service, reduced Maybank 2C credit limit to only RM20k, then re-applied Maybank Ikhwan Amex and was approved.

Ya, that's the same thing that ClarenceT adviced earlier. I've dropped an email to MBB card services and requested them to convert half of my limit to Islamic..let's see what is their reply.

So have lurked around for years.
Came here to rant specifically. Wtf is happening? all the CC's seem unattractive anymore.

Maybank premier 2cards nerf.
Alliance bank VI annual fee implementation.

For context.
I load around 500k spend on the Maybank VI to get Krisflyer miles annually. The earn rate used to be 5000TP per mile when i started this points game. I accumulated and spent around 3million KF miles for my family but I dont see any valuable conversion at 12,500 TP.

Now the Alliance Bank VI will lose the annual fee waiver. (it doesn't have any benefits at all , earn rate is not even attractive).

My 2 cents, the way i see it the only good cards are the AMEX KF plat, CIMB TWE (if you can hit 240k spend) and Maybank VI (hate to say it but the still the best earn rate for KF even though its trash).

I have Bank Rakyat Platinum Explorer. 5% cb cap at RM1k yearly from hotels / airlines. FX rate follow Mastercard and with no admin fee.
Trans get posted and show up in mobile app pretty fast.

Mobile app UI is really meh. I remembered I tried to get access to mobile / internet banking, and ATM totally failed to give temp id / pin, and I had to call their cs to sort it out.
Good thing getting through to cs is fast (maybe because not many customers??? tongue.gif )

I don't remember having to sign up any insurance / investment scheme when I applied.
But Takaful come together with Platinum Explorer card, and since this is Islamic card, there is this commodities contract thingy for Shariah compliant.
