Hello.. nice to meet you.. I think the last I posted in this thread is like few years ago.

On and off I ride for almost 9 years. Latest ride is Ducati 796.

Single sided swing arm pure sexiness. Most ppl tend to shy away from Ducati due to the running costs. Myself included.

Really love the look of the 1098 and 1198. But I canโ€™t ride it, prefer upright.

Sometimes I really wonder if I'm searching wrongly.

Apologies if this has already been asked... I don't see a thread on Harley Davidson. I'm seeing more interests in BMW bikes and have a friend who claims maintenance is low.

I've actually never really liked a Harley. But lately I'm wondering if it is a good bike to own? Low or High Maintenance?

How about price - depreciate fast/slow?

Happy to hear your thoughts and pointers. I'm a newbie at this smile.gif

Never been a fan of harley.. bike is heavy but performance is still like the bikes from 70s.
Can't deny their muscle v-twins sounds are great though..
They also have really small tank for whatever reason. The only harley I like is pan america.
From what I've seen harley prices do retain values depending on models.
I'm pretty sure there are plenty of harley owners that like the bike for the riding experience... but not as their only bike

To be honest, harley wouldn't be low maintainence.

BMW still okay, if you affordable for the body price, accessories and maintainence shouldn't be a problem.

Are you looking for easy rider, touring or racer bike? Price range?

I just got my full B license (using the new full B conversion.
However, I still don't have my "Home Minister's approval" to buy a bike (You get my meaning ah? rclxs0.gif

I am not entirely sure if I will buy a bike because might not have the time to ride it.
Was even thinking of renting a bike instead.

If I were to buy a bike, my first criteria must be "value for money" and "low maintenance".

Cannot really afford much biggrin.gif

Second criteria used to be a racer. But because I'm around 50 years old, don't think I can use a racer anymore.

Which is why I thought Harley would be a good idea.

In fact, now I'm even thinking about an Electrical Bike?

I'm a noob.

Any thoughts and idea is much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Congratulations on the upgrade biggrin.gif

Touring bike is comfortable for even 2 persons..

Just need to in depth see which brand you're into.. group influences matters as well.. example harley group.. BMW Touring bike tip top comfort which you won't regret.

easy to ride and friendly bike would be maxi scooter.
can even take your wife like young couples again laugh.gif
look at zontes 350, under 30k, easy to ride.
or wait for their upcoming zontes 368, rival to honda adv 350

if you want bigger cc, maybe sym tl500.

but since you used to be a racer maybe you want a clutch bike just get that feeling again.
can consider used bikes like kawasaki z650, suzuki gsr750, cfmoto 650mt/700clx

versys 650 2nd gen or (if ur willing to pay more) 3rd gen would definitely go under value for money and low maintenance n would also be ok for a 50yo to ride with his wife.

give an exact number of how much ur willing to spend coz ur post is kinda contradictory.....

"Cannot really afford much", "value for money", "low maintenance" doesnt usually fit in the same sentence (or even paragraph) as "harley". so ur definition of "much" is gonna be different than the next person.

come to think of it, the closest thing i can think of that suits all those requirements n harley style (i.e cruiser) would be the Kawasaki Vulcan S.

?

Let's start with a budget. And maybe the type of riding you like to do.

You are all over the map right now. Understand you just passed your full B and I'm sure you are ecstatic about the notion on getting on a big bike. But sit down for a moment ya. tongue.gif

I don't know yet how much I'm willing to spend. But based on my initial asking around, I'm thinking below RM20k? LoL!
Sorry to disappoint...

Thank you for this. Will look into this, I tested some Vulcan bikes for fun years ago....
