P2's OTAs chronicles:

S033_160919_ROW = Released from factory.
S048_161111_ROW = 1st OTA released on 9th December 2016.
S062_170117_ROW = 2nd OTA released on 24th January 2017.
S232_170320_ROW = 3rd OTA released on 28th March 2017 (Major Nougat Upgrade). But was withdrawn on 1st April 2017.
S233_170404_ROW = 4th OTA released on 11th April 2017 (Supersede previous 3rd OTA).
S244_170725_ROW = 5th OTA released on 10th August 2017 (125MB incremental update).
S251_171107_ROW = 6th OTA released on 15th Nov 2017 (95MB incremental update).

Hypothesis:

S266_180303_ROW = 7th OTA to be released on 15th March 2018 (Android Security Patch & bug fixes update).

#OTA #Nougat

P2's Top 10 uniqueness are:
1) Rocket-charge better than Qualcomm Quick-Charge 3.0.
2) 5,100 mAh energy supply with slim 8.3mm profile.
3) Reverse charging thru supplied micro-USB adapter.
4) Front-mounted always-on fingerprint reader with optional Android home, back & recent apps navigation.
5) Diamond PenTile Super AMOLED with 510 nits.
6) NFC for mobile payment and peripherals.
7) Semi-AI rear camera with 4K video recording.
8) One-key Ultimate Power Saver slider.
9) 86dB loudspeaker with dedicated amplifier.
10) Semi-Pure stock Android OS.

Current selling price is below USD230.

There is none "similar" to specs above. The closest are:
1) Samsung Galaxy A9 Pro;
2) Asus Zenfone 3 Zoom ZE553KL;
3) Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1/M2/M3;
4) Xiaomi Mi Max 3.
5) Motorola Moto One Power & G7 Power
6) Other Second Grade China-made models; eg. Gionee, Oukitel, Elephone, Ulefone, Bluboo, Blackview, Vernee, Leagoo, Doogee, Cubot, etc.

Almost all current P2 owners are hoping to upgrade to P3 but Lenovo has unofficially ended the P-series as of now.

There is no contender or replacement for this "state-of-the-art" at the moment...

FULL BACK-UP, UNLOCKING BOOTLOADER, TWRP, ROOT & Google Camera:

P2 user checking in.

Been using P2 since end Jan, after my Lenovo S920 screen black out. So far so good.

One question for who upgrade to Nougat, does the "select mock location app" still available in developer options?

If ur current SIM card does not detect VoLTE inside P2, you may need to change to a new nano-SIM card... Does YES telco charge for SIM card replacement...?

It is definitely an issue after Nougat OTA... Worldwide issue...

It could be either WhatsApp incompatibility with certsin DPI or it is something wrong with P2 stock ROM...u can try to install latest or older version(s) of WhatsApp to analyze which version suits P2 Nougat platform...

Don't worry about overcharging P2. The battery and stock charger have the safety chip to cut any excessive power inputs.

You can tell by feeling the screen while charging. The first 80% during charging, P2 screen will feel slightly warm. But from 80% to 100%, P2 is totally cool as if it is not attached to power socket.

However, frequently overcharging/prolong charge is not encouraged as this practice may affect the chips inside the battery and charger.

You may use power timer below to avoid overcharging at night...

I would set the power timer to be "ON" from 4am till 6am. Meaning the charging period is 2 hours while we are sleeping.

This power meter can get anywhere...Tesco, Giant, AEON, etc... There are two typres; digital and analogue. Price ranges from RM15 to RM60...

Just ensure you know how to operate it properly... It's kind of tricky for layman or Average Joe....

Ohh blush.gif because I actually saw a lelong post from SevenMobile where they sell Lenovo P2 [Ori MY] for RM1185. As you aware, the original price is actually RM1399.. so do you think it fishy for them to sell cheap? because i really really plan to buy Lenovo P2 consider it very very magnificent awesome masterpiece and suitable for me. What did you think? should I buy from the retail store or maybe go for the cheap one since Lenovo P2 doesnt have any AP set right? Thank you.

That's extremely high energy consumption...

Try steps below:
1) Reboot P2.
2) Settings > Apps > Google Play Services > three-dots > Uninstall updates

3) Reboot P2 & connect to strong stable Wi-Fi.

4) Launch Google PlayStore. Wait for 5 minutes for the PlayStore to download and update everything.

5) Reboot P2.

6) Monitor the energy consumption of Google Play Services for 48 hours.

I think there are several LYT forumers here bought P2 from them. So far nobody complaint...

The launching price was RM1,299 way back on December last year...but LeMoto Malaysia decided to jack up the SRP to RM1,399 for no concrete reasons....

Having offered price of RM1,185 is nothing weird. You may ask them (or show my previous pix) that it comes with free transparent plastic case and PET screen guard. If they say "Yes", then, you open the box in-front of them to check this two items. If they are not there, perhaps you can demand further discount for you to buy this two items somewhere else...just call them before you go to ensure stock availability...

Also, verify with them that the unit is covered under 1 year manufacturer warranty under LeMoto Malaysia...

Wild charging, is the LED notification lit-up in red? if Yes, give it another hour to charge.

If no light meaning some hardware/software is not in order anymore... you can try pressing for 10 seconds all POWER+VOL UP + VOL DOWN buttons to see it will boot up or not....

So far, those who received the latest 78MB OTA, don't have detrimental issues...

However, hard/factory reset is still a must if anything goes haywire after the OTA...So be prepared for it should you decided to proceed with Nougat OTA...

sometimes they promote on the fb page only.. but usually is those less than myr 1k devices

then again, if by doing this we get cheaper price without sacrificing d quality, not bad move.

I've a feeling that the CPU Usage report is "fake" in Nougat. You may need to install 3rd party monitoring app like "BetterBatteryStats" below:

Attached Image

The app is not free but hunt around if you will...Also, it will work better for rooted devices...

Not yet coz some of the apps are not fully 100% compatible with Nougat...

The apps that I'm using is related to my work and being developed by independent programmer. Can't reveal the app name(s) though...

I tested, can't seem to duplicate it on my set. My roaming stayed on. I followed like the video steps. Anyway I did a factory reset cause battery life was not good after the update. After reset it was much better.

I'm on umobile so sometimes when no coverage it'll roam on maxis.

Alright... So after hard/factory reset, the roaming toggle stays activated.

But in his case, the roaming meaning it's connecting to network outside his local telco. Meaning, if we subscribe to UMobile or Maxis, if we travel to, say, Singapore, P2 should roaming with telco in Singapore automatically. So, his P2 disconnected the roaming feature which is a bug.

Nevertheless, this roaming disconnected issue applies to P2 owners who frequently traveling overseas.

Malaysia and other parts of the world = P2a42 = 32GB only.
PRC = P2c42 = 64GB (limited 4G bands support; no Google PlayStore).

As far as I'm aware, the YouTube lip sync is pronounced in the UK/Three variant. Not just YouTube, other 3rd party streaming apps/services are also having lip sync issues as stated in the forum below:
P2 Lip Sync topic

My unit does not have the lip sync issue since day 1.

Also, there is common issue on the static interference noise in the head/earphone jack. This issue seems to be affecting worldwide units (on certain batches...) but the latest Nougat OTA has resolved this issue. Funny enough, my unit does not have this static noise interference.

Tips of the day:

You can trace which apps are "quietly" auto-launch after fresh reboot using the Lenovo Companion app. Go-to Diagnostic -> System & Apps:

I was shock to see lots of "unnecessary" 3rd party apps auto-launch which eat up the 3.52GB available RAM...You can tap the "Apps running on start up" to know what are the apps so that you can take actions on those apps...

Best is for you to go-to nearby LeMoto kiosk to test-drive... Below is the directory for LeMoto Malaysia Sales kiosk:
P2 Retail Stores

Call them to check demo units availability....

As a teaser, P2's external speaker is "VERY GOOD" according to GSMArena review:

Would prefer not to though, returning is such a hassle.

Some people on forum also reported audible chirping noise on low volume
*
I believe the "chirping" noise and static earphone are the same issue... I did face it when owning the Alcatel Flash Plus(es) about 2 years ago..... managed to get full refund from Lazada for both units....

I believe this YouTuber is for UK/Three variants:

KNOWN HARDWARE ISSUES:

Hardware Issue 1 : External Speaker Excessive Distortion
.
- At above 75% volume, the external speaker sound tends to distorted. My unit doesn't have this issue. But if ur P2 has this, the Service Centre will replace the speaker under warranty.

Hardware Issue 2 : Camera Break.
- Worldwide but not common.
- Unknown reasons.
- After certain activity/task, when launching the camera app inside WhatsApp, an error message "Can't Connect to the Camera" and/or "Unfortunately, Camera has stopped".
- Hard reset doesn't solve the camera break issue, and sending to Service Centre is the best options.

Hardware Issue 3 : Depressed screen panel on the left and right sides of fingerprint scanner.

- Affecting certain manufacturing batch(es).
- Applying tempered glass resulting air bubble at the depressed/"sunken" zones.
- Suggest to return for replacement or, warranty, if possible. However, my unit does NOT have this issue.

The typical chronicles will be as follows:

1) Received item today.

2) Decided to return the item on 10th day (provided the item has 14-day easy returns policy).

Attached Image
Source for above unit.

3) Item is shipped for free via MBE Centres.

4) Laz will reply via email usually a week after Step 3 saying item is received and will proceed with refund process.

Attached Image

5) Received another email usually 3 days after Step 4 saying refund initiated to your account (credit card or saving account, your choice).

Attached Image

6) Full refund credited to your account 7 days (max 14 days) after Step 5.

The return process is simple, it is just the waiting period that we need to get used to....

Today I'm playing with the S8 from Samsung in a shopping centre (has just arrived to public in Poland) and while in camera department it's like day and night, the S8's speaker is...just worse: noticeable quieter and, P2 owners will understand, not as "punchy" or "deep" as the P2's one, especially in the low-mids and basses. No progress compared to the S7.

Maybe the water-seals on the S8 has detrimental effect on the external speakers performance.... I believe the 3.5mm audio jack is way better than P2...

Anyway, me is awaiting for Note8 arrival...

1 PLN = 3,95 US USD. Prices: 3499 PLN- S8 and 3949 PLN - S8+, so basically over 850$ and almost 1000 $. LG G6 costs 3299 PLN, so over 800$. The P2 right now is starting from 1299 PLN (~330$), but in January it started from 1599 PLN (~400$). That was weird because in other European countries the P2 was sometimes cheaper than 300$ from the beginning of sell.

Some Polish humorous news website wrote an article "First honest and non-paid review of the Galaxy S8 in Polish Internet" and they simply added a photo of ... credit application. For lots of people these are two salaries, in fact. In Poland officially sold (with 2- year warranty, to buy in any shopping centre, even just one floor above me right now; obviously you can buy it much cheaper from China and there is even a 1-year warranty with service for 5$ from Ibuygo) Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X with Snap 625 costs exactly the same as the P2 - 1299. Moto G5's will launch within next two weeks in Poland, their prices are unknown so far.

Try to send official email to "smartphonecc@lenovo.com" with lots of pix to convince them for replacement...

Best if you can snap photo before (with clear depressed areas) & after applying the tempered glass.

Jumping from S7 to S8 is waste of money for design failure of rear fingerprint scanner position...

I don't see the logic to pay more than RM3K with clearly design flaw device...

Giving same body size with note 7, they might stretch till 5.9 perhaps.

My sweet spot 5.7.. any bigger hard to use..

Seriously, p2 aren't all that big n chucky.. Samsung could have easily slide 4k battery in if they aren't keep pushing for slimmer body.

First thing I do is skip everything to see if there is any headphone jack defect and youtube lip not in sync. Thanks god none of them occur. Phew...

Can someone provide me a checklist? what should I watch out?

Is it wise to upgrade to nougat rn?

Don't worry... use P2 for powerbank can also get 6 hours SoT... enuff for whole day surfing, streaming, emailing, snap pix & vix and 2 trips of 1 hour GPS navi...

Thus, the easiest way to kill P2's battery is to use it as powerbank....LOL...

Just got this phone. Found tat have problem installing tempered glass as there is bubble at the edge. I have tried 2 different tempered glass and result is still same. Is this manufacturer issue? Can demand for a new replacement?

Just at least get a TPU Gel case coz P2 Corning Gorilla Glass 3.0 seems to be very-very-very thin by looking at lots of broken panels reported from the netizens....

This is mine:
Attached Image Attached Image

I have applied two layers of screen protectors.

Bottom layer = DISAGU blue-light-cutting PET film.
Top layer = Tempered glass from AliExpress

But if yours is similar to the YouTube below, it is the depressed screen panel "manufacturing defect":

Please take note that all 2.5D screen panel will DEFINITELY have "halo" effect as shown below:

So, if yours is more towards "halo" effect, it's normal for tempered glass issue. That's why I applied TWO layers. The PET film is to make the surface "flatter" before proper tempered glass is applied on top of it.

You can request for replacement unit (if such policy apply to your purchase...). Else, can try to apply two layers screen protectors like my unit...

Bear in mind, my unit does NOT have depressed screen panel on the left or right sides of the fingerprint scanner. I'm using the PET film as bottom layer in order to have the "anti-blue ray" protection.

You can try any cheap PET film and tempered glass as a test before investing on premium PET film and tempered glass...

Look, mama! The brand new S8+ battery test is not bad....
I managed to make (as always in a electronic shop) YT full brightness test myself with both S8 and S8+. My results were: 14 %/h -S8\ 11-12%/h - S8+. I tested my P2 once again and I received results 7,5-8%\h. When we calculate how many mAh there is from each battery all of these phones have consumed about 400mAh. Also for the first time I played some games on my P2: Asphalt 8/Extreme, Real Racing 3, CSR Racing etc. with full brightness, NFC, BT, localisation, mobile data turned on and....with 5 hours of playing around I lost about 11%/h... It seems that killing P2 under 8,5- 9h is pretty much impossible, I think the camera app also uses the same amount of energy, maybe up to 12% (full brightness photographing or video recording). What's more, I tested the P2 speaker against pretty much every mid-range and flagship phone available officially in Poland. Only phones which are almost as loud or as loud (In my opinion the P2 was never "the quieter one") as the P2 were Huawei Mate 9 &
9 Pro (but surprisingly IMO normal Mate 9 was louder), iPhone 7 and I liked how the front-facing Moto Z (and Z Play) sounded but still they were a little bit quieter. P2's speaker was noticeably louder and more impressive in terms of quality than the majority mono speakers: the new LG G6, all Samsungs, Asus Zenfone 3, Redmi Note 4, Huawei's P9 or P10 (also Lite versions) or Sony stereo speakers (but those never were the loudest on the market). However, somehow any of those sounded as "non-digital" as the P2, even Mate's and iPhone's. I was surprised that always my P2 was "different", especially while listening to known for me Youtuber's voices P2 is making -for a smartphone obviously- a damn good job. It seems that GSMArena really wasn't lying about the P2 with "It's one of the better single-speaker setups we've encountered lately."

If you use Chrome, it will auto-zoom-in whenever the menu/links are too close to each other. But, can try the mobile version of the website by turning OFF the "Request desktop site" option:

Gonna return the phone, the static noise while using headphone is way too annoying. It only happens with IEM btw, if you are using earbuds there won't be any problem. Turn down the volume and you can hear the annoying hissing.

Dont waste time, dis uneven screen problem exists on all our P2. Just dont use tempered glass. Use a normal flexible sp is good alredi. Recently im using my P2 without sp bcoz i found dat the free sp dat comes wit the P2 has dis anoying rainbow effect at certain angle.

Lol 90%volume way to get tinnitus. The static noise is audible especially at low volume. It depends on your headphone too, high impedance headphone might not have this issue

I know it's not the above setting, but, if you disable the Smart Answer, you might need to re-pair again and watch for pop-up message during re-pair if any settings required to "auto-answer".

My unit don't have this "bug". You can try to pair P2 with other car head-units to test further.

Have you tried using the stock Lenovo earphone? I know the stock earphone is rubbish but at least when you return the unit, you have even solid reason to get replacement/refund...

I never tried the stock Lenovo earphone as my unit's 3.5mm jack is working as designed.

It seems like the first batch of P2 has a very good manufacturing quality control compared to the recent batches....

Maybe the manufacturing equipments are "exhausted" or not calibrated properly after manufactured million units of P2 ....LOL...

I saw lots of similar complaint regarding the rapid charging is not working anymore after S232/S233 OTAs....
*
Yes, I use S233 firmware and I haven't got any problems with fast charging. Everything just works as good as with MM. I've just tested it: 51 to 71 % in 18 minutes.

Personally I will make it portable
Just as the name, it's portable

Plus, if my memory serves me correctly, sdcard read write lifespan is lesser than d internal memory.

In case sdcard failure, it may cause endless force closes.. it's not a big deal, jz re install.

But I'm jz too lazy for that.. lol..

2nd, d speed might be affected. Become slower.. and sluggish. Even if u using class 10 ufs 1.. it will not as fast as d internal storage.

This is my opinions for not using as internal.

SD card "internal" = Android adoptable storage = all apps and data will be saved in this SD card while the built-in 32GB eMMC will be "redundant".

SD card "portable" = normal external storage; 32GB eMMC remains internal storage for apps and data.

Just use P2 with portable microSD card until the balance of 32GB eMMC is about 2GB. By this time, you should know which apps is "important" and not.

Mobile Games usually the no. 1 culprit to consume the 32GB eMMC internal storage. Hence, 32GB is not supposed your target internal storage when buying any smartphones because the usable storage out-of-the-box is around 24GB.

Converting microSD card to be an Adoptable Storage is the last resort if one decided to still keep to use the phone for long lifespan...

Having said that, I'm determined to keep P2a42 for three years and by that time microSD card UHS-2 should be affordable...
Attached Image

However, 32GB eMMC is enough for my usage coz I don't install heavy game titles...

This is very true... microSD card is very delicate item and slight increase in temperature (beyond the designed limit) will damage the chip.

Hence, I always buy microSD card that has legit "lifetime warranty"...which cost an arm and a leg too...

It's all luck basis I'd say... SanDisk has bad reputation due to abundance of fake/imitate products...

I have used many microSD card brands and none fails me too...kind of getting cheated when we buy 8GB microSD card 5 years ago which cost similar to a 128GB now but that 5 years old 8GB is still working well until today...LOL...

Oh... You scraped the microSD card (which is not compulsory if the card has no "bulge"). I don't know about Samsung microSD card thickness but SanDisk has a "bulge" which needs to be scrape off. I believe the "bulge" on the SanDisk is some sort of thermal protection layer to protect the chip from excessive heats.

I believe you have tested the microSD card to card reader and it is still faulty. So sorry to see this happen.

I have the nano-SIM extender with me. PM me if you need it urgently.

what I mean is that can this phone support 2CA when connecting to LTE?
2CA means 2 LTE bands (in Malaysia's case band 3 and 7) can co-exist together in order to achieve 4G+..
since you mention it does support CA

U mean the full wrap/transparent skin film... I dunno about that...but I Edy posted earlier various PET film screen guard below:
"Premium" PET Film screen guard

I suggest you try the RM10 matte first and see how it goes...we don't have to worry about scratch because P2 has Corning Gorilla Glass 3... Scratch resistance is Level 6...

So called JerryRig clones...LOL..

Then, nope. Is there such a phone supports LTE_2CA...? So far, my P2 can detect LTE_CA but yet to detect LTE_2CA...but I'm still running the old S062 firmware/modem...perhaps those who have OTA to the latest S233 modem can detect LTE_2CA spectrum...(?)

Getting the right phone is one thing. The most important part is whether the ROM has been updated to the latest driver or not. Next, the telco towers have been upgraded to implement 3CA spectrum or not.

The ZUK Z2 is not having local/international ROM. Thus, ignore it. You may flash the Indian ROM but you might lost IMEIs later.

Better get local smartphone that has local manufacturer warranty and updated ROM to suit Maxis, Celcom, DiGi, U-Mobile, webe, etc.

Something interesting has been announced today in Poland. Today the G5 and G5 Plus presented officially for the first time and... Lenovo Moto "transforms" from Lenovo Moto into Motorola Moto. Therefore G5 will be sold as "Motorola Moto G5" or Z/Z Play as "Motorola Moto Z/Z Play". And more importantly, Lenovo phones (P2 & K6 family) will be sold till the end of Q3 2017. Then "Lenovo" phones in Poland won't be sold, there will only bwvMotorola Moto brand on the Polish market

Hmmm... Motorola is like a ball... Being passed here and there... My hypothesis is that Lenovo will release Motorola Mobility to another company soon and "quit" Lenovo brand from smartphone business...

They know they can't compete with flagship giants (Apple & Sammy) as well as mid- & budget-scenes (Oppo/Vivo/Xiaomi, etc.)

What if Microsoft acquired Motorola...LOL... it'll be fun to see a phone brand name "MicroMoto"...LOL...

I suggest you don't install any apps/games yet... Do the following steps to properly OTAs:
1) Make a full backup of all data like contacts, pix, vix, bookmarks, apps/games data, etc.
2) Now the P2 is still in Mellow firmware, factory data reset.
3) When P2 is booted, OTA(s) all the way until firmware S233_170404_ROW.
4) When P2 is booted, hard reset again.
5) Now, P2 is running S233. Test all hardware and software features to ensure they are working properly.
6) Once Step 5 is A-OK, then only restore backup data.

Looks like there's a small bug for Rapid Charging after Nougat OTA.

The rapid charging is either stop working or charging at slow rate or even stop charging at 95%.

To solve:
1) While P2 is being charged using the stock Rapid/Rocket Charger, just reboot/restart P2.

Nothing to compare as Z3Z is a "waste"... All three generations of ZenFones, the camera is over-hyped ... Later next year come out with triple cameras and slap them at the back and double cameras on the front and simply name it ZenFone 4 Zoom...LOL... But the ZenUI is kind of OK & reliable compared to others...

... Impressive...?

As for energy consumption, very impressive....

OT:
LeMoto has done a good job in mitigating the extreme NOISE CANCELLING MIC algorithm for the P2 after the S233 OTA. Furthermore, the sound recorded after Nougat OTA is stereo sound (which is what the NOISE CANCELLING MIC supposed to act during video recording...)

You can still "listen" to YouTube below that Sammy Galaxy S8, iPhone 7 and ZenFone 3 Zoom all suffers same plague like P2 except for LG G6...

However, OTA should fix those 3 flagships easily...

The "bloat" is uninstallable... the built-in enhanced features like double tap to sleep, power management, Game Genie, swipe gestures, colour correction, "grandpa mode", long-tap recent icon to screenshot, etc. are very well implemented. Out of all customised AOSP, ZenUI is my favorite compared to MIUI, EMUI, etc....

Don't even consider to get ZenFone 3 Zoom as it has screen quality issue. Lots of users (more than 50%) claim to have white strip line at the bottom of the AMOLED screen after a few days of ownership... perhaps you can wait for next 3 months for them to rectify the screen quality issue....

Ohh.. I saw a few YouTubers on the LeUI... kind of "unique" and "friendly" too.... but I'm not fond of its built design/quality and they are kind of "dying" in India due to quality issues....

Meizu UI is the worst IMO anyway...LOL...but Meizu started the m-Touch gesture at the finger-print scanner....

Back to ZenFone, body-built is above average...

However, test drive both at LeMoto kiosk to get hands-on experience...

Not really flat tho
D bottom and both side left and right got slight curve in
Causing tempered glass having bubbles..

Unfortunately, my unit also affected.. that's y had to use ultimately sheild film..

Anyway, my installation is successful.. satisfied with the result.

Urs unit completely flat? Damn lucky

Notes for newbie:
Just note that most of the tempered glass selling in the market now is not proper fit to P2. Used to try numerous tempered glass and resulted bubbles floating around the bottom edge and top which look ugly. Somehow the design of this phone is quite unique and I believe is not the tempered glass design problem. Solution is to find a good screen protector OR any soft bendable tempered glass (if there is any in the market). Ultimate Shield OR Armour Guard can be considered but not cheap...

I've tried bro Azhar way, double layer, first layer is clear pet film, second layer is tempered glass. It works no bubble at the edges.

I've also bought soft tpu type screen protector, just arrive from aliexpress after 2weeks will update how's it's like once I install it.

Thanks for trying and glad it works on your case.

There are other options out there to "mitigate" the bubbles including using olive/baby oil as "filler" to the air trapped. But this is not permanent....

quick update on the new screen protector I just bought from aliexpress, material unknown, claims to be soft glass, I thought is tpu but does not feel like it. it's very flexible like pet type but in terms of clarity & thickness very similar to glass. Touch also comparable to glass as well, those who had use pet and glass would know what I'm talking about. Overall imho it's quite good alternative to tempered glass minus the bubble issue on our p2.

Just search for "nano anti explosion screen protector" on aliexpress, most obvious tell tale sign to look for is the distinct blue plastic film over it. Other protectors uses clear type of backing.

So far I'm unable to scratch it with my fingernail yet. I tried using a screw driver those sharp type use to fix glasses, it did leave a mark, I tried on the tempered glass as well, did leave a mark also but less visible.

the one I bought is unbranded, 5pcs for rm10. So far really like tempered glass, no distortion or haziness like you describe. Could be manufacture dependent. The pet type I bought has the rainbow/haziness.

Well as in all things made in china, it's a hit and miss. I'm not complaining, like you say, 10bucks only tongue.gif

So far best setup up for me is pet+tg layering. Once i've exhausted this 5pcs i'll go back to this setup.

P2 has extra feature for casting to smart TV, i.e. Supercast.

The Supercast has extra commands to turn-off the screen while not affecting casting (and save energy too...), can convert P2 screen to become mouse pointer and also virtual remote for the smart TV....

Let's have a look inside our phone:

I've just tested video recording with Motocamera app from XDA, it records videos at 25 fps but constantly, like Open Camera. In general that FPS drop thing bothers me, because I've also watched first Mi6 tests and on their recent software the Mi6 also drops FPS.

*
I suggest you don't order expensive/premium tempered glass as we don't know whether it will solve the air bubble issue at the sides of fingerprint scanner (for your unit). However, if DISAGU can guarantee some sort of full refund policy, then, proceed...

The DISAGU Armor is ordinary PET film with special nano-coated layer. So, it does not have proper protection against object drop impact...

I bought their anti-blue ray PET film and it worked great on my P2. Bear in mind that my P2 does not have the sunken/depressed screen panel... So, I've tried many tempered glass before the DISAGU PET film...but I need the anti-blue ray protection and no tempered glass has this feature so far. So, I've decided to have double layer technique to get both anti-blue ray protection and tempered glass as scratch and oleophobic feature.

As for hardness scale, you can YouTube...all in all, just ignore the hardness scale offered by the Manufacturers as they are just marketing gimmick to attract buyers...

Sorry to sound disappointing, but, there is no tempered glass for P2 that can cover the whole screen.

If you need full body "wrap" protection against scratches and smudges (no impact protection), can try the "Ultimate Shield" below:

https://www.ultimateshield.co.uk/collection...creen-protector

Please take note that one of the function of tempered glass is to protect against impact when the device is fell FLAT-Screen-First. Tempered glass cannot protect against impact on sides and corners of the Corning Gorilla Glass 3; even if the tempered glass covers the whole screen edges-to-edges.

In order to have optimum protection for the very thin Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on P2, hard case or TPU soft gel is highly recommended, though it will make P2 "bulkier" and "heavier".

Hence, it's personal preference whether to have extra protection or to enjoy the device naked as it is...

Look, Ma...!

D.I.Y. fan-assisted charging port....LOL...The temperature (for battery...?) is always below 35 degrees Celsius....

Attached Image

Powerbank used : Xiaomi 10,000 mAh Slim Powerbank "PRO"

p/s : If you wanna save energy and this planet, try to reduce air-conditioner usage...

The charging rate:

Energy Time Temperature (Celsius)
13% to 37% 30 minutes 32.5
13% to 61% 1 hour 33.2
13% to 82% 1 hour 33 minutes 33
13% to 95% 2 hours 5 minutes 31
13% to 99% 2 hours 25 minutes 31
13% to 100% 2 hours 28 minutes 31.2
Attached Image

This is the charging rate WITHOUT fan-assisted technique:

Energy Time Temperature (Celsius)
11% to 22% 15 mins 36
11% to 33% 30 mins 37.5
11% to 47% 45 mins 39
11% to ??% 1 hr ??
11% to 66% 1 hr 15 mins 40
11% to 74% 1 hr 30 mins ??
11% to 83% 1 hr 45 mins 39.7
11% to 91% 2 hrs 38.2
11% to 96% 2 hrs 15 mins 36
11% to 99% 2 hrs 30 mins 34.5
11% to 100% 2 hrs 35 mins 34

CONCLUSION : Battery temperature does NOT have significant effect to charging rate ...

For tbe youtube no1, is this applicable for P2? Cant find it online selling..

Hao Tempered Glass is only for flagship models... Hence, they are targeting iPhone and Sammy Galaxy users who are willing to buy "a" phone at RM3K and willing to spend Tempered Glass protection for RM200 without warranty if the TG breaks....!!!

Like, if you are willing to buy Lambo/"Godzilla"/Porsche, why can't you spend money on mods....?!!!

Our P2 is not Lambo/"Godzilla"/Porsche...Hence, "premium" tempered glass will never exists due to the manufacturer knows we are not willing to spend RM200 per tempered glass....LOL...

I did not buy from 11street previously... I bought at Lazada from seller called "ATCETERA SOLUTIONS":
2017 Xiaomi Mi 10000mAh Gen2 Ultra Slim Design PowerBank compatible with Qualcomm Quick-Charge 2.0

Just ensure the warranty is 6 months...not 3 months... Furthermore, this seller offers 14-day Easy Returns should you found it is not genuine...

*
based on my co-worker info, she encounter the same issue when she buy her p2 last month or 2 month ago at samarahan lenovo retail shop,

even the lenovo original "tempered glass" having the same issue with some of new p2, the retail shop staff have to throw away 2 unit of tempered glass becoz at first they though the tempred glass got issue.

In the end, the swap her unit with another unit, and walla no bubble at all.

On side note future phones sure gonna look awesome! You can see bezel less or small bezel becoming trend from 2017 onwards.

Best place to get tempered glass? Lazada? Yes I also notice bubble at bottom. P2 tempered glass hard to find in actual shops in Pg. Any tempered glass offerings recommendation?

P. S. My current tempered glass took store couple months to get I don't wish to wait that long since my phone fell down and tempered glass is broken.

No TG will fit or give perfect bubble-free result (unless ur unit does not have the sunken/depressed screen issue).

Hence, if you still wanna proceed, using double layered PET plus tempered glass technique is the proven method so far to ensure bubble-free application...

Nevertheless, you may try to claim for warranty for the sunken/depressed screen panel from the Service Centre...

2 layers screen protectors then tempered glass? Your touch screen still able to detect wow.

I doubt they will provide warranty over this issue. I am satisfied with the product even if there are bubbles at bottom.

I am actually asking how long did it take you to receive your order all that? I am looking for quick solution I no longer wish to wait a month or 2. Lazada claims theirs can arrive in a week.

Just one layer PET film and one layer tempered glass.

The PET film can get those cheap clear type. The most important is tempered glass that has oleophobic coating for easy swiping on GBoard or when playing games...

Can search at lelong.com.my below:
P2 PET film & tempered glass

I always get "urgent" online purchase from Lazada as the delivery time-frame is always earlier than expected...of course it depeneds on the assigned courier service for each item. So far all courier services like PosLaju, LEX, GDex, etc are doing good job at my location. Dunno about Penang region...

This is one of the cons of getting P2. Accessories are limited at physical shops. Hopefully anyone here in Penang region could lend you a hand.

If that is how they treated customers, we all know the consequences... Even Sammy now is in hot seat...

AppleCare Plus (with premium price of course...and replacement with another "reconditioned" units) is another "product" to be scrutinized....

All in all, this is where manufacturers failed to gain more profit from Sales point of view....

Camera trick ya.... sure it's not a drop of water on the lens. It's a drop of water on a piece of glass above the cup(not directly above some distance away) . The focus is on the drop of water that's why the bokeh effect on the cup. The light reflection on the right side of the glass tells the true story

Looks like 99% high chance Moto G6 Plus (aka P3a42) will be using Snap660... While the K-series will adopt Snap630... A-series using Snap4xx...

Hint : LeMoto P3a42 will mimic Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2 specs....

My "hypothesis":

Logically, the heavier the phone, the easier to break the screen whenever dropped at any height...

P2 weight is 177 grams... Compared to say Xiaomi Redmi 4A @ 132 grams...

If we drop these two devices at the same height (and presumably the touching/impact point are the same for both devices), P2 is more susceptible to have the screen damaged because of the 177 grams of "force" being transferred thru the screen.

Furthermore, the screen of P2 is having a OGS laminated. And, to add more "fragile" characteristics, the so-called Corning Gorilla Glass 3 is "hypothetically" way thinner than what 177 grams of weight should have...

So, there are P2 owners who drop it at various height and the screen still intact maybe due to the 177 grams was arguely "well transferred" to the strongest point of the screen (which nobody knows where it is...). But if we were to Google/YouTube, the usual location of broken screen of P2 is at the fingerprint scanner region where the glass has lost its continuity to give way to the fingerprint scanner physical button. Also, the sunken/depressed screen zone also "helps" weakening the Corning Gorilla Glass 3 further...

Hence, if we dropped P2 with the fingerprint scanner zone hit the surface first, there is 99% chance the screen will break. But if dropped at any other sides, 99% chance P2's screen will survive...

Gel case and impact protection case will "absorb" some of the 177 grams "force" but not all...At least, these accessories give extra grip while adding extra weight from 177 grams to become more than 180 grams...

It's time for accessories makers to introduce "bubble-wrap" casing or even polystyrene case which is light and more durable for impact/drop protection...

Meanwhile, drop test without any case with fingerprint scanner side hits ground first:

Since P2's 5.5" screen can be "easily" broken due to drop at low height, I am willing to sacrifice sleek and weight by adding extra drop-impact protection...

Stock SNAPit app vs Open Camera app.

Pitch dark room with flash; fully auto. Object distance to P2 lense is about 7 meters.

Look, Ma...!

D.I.Y. fan-assisted charging port....LOL...The temperature (for battery...?) is always below 35 degrees Celsius....

Attached Image

Powerbank used : Xiaomi 10,000 mAh Slim Powerbank "PRO"

p/s : If you wanna save energy and this planet, try to reduce air-conditioner usage...

The charging rate:

Energy Time Temperature (Celsius)
13% to 37% 30 minutes 32.5
13% to 61% 1 hour 33.2
13% to 82% 1 hour 33 minutes 33
13% to 95% 2 hours 5 minutes 31
13% to 99% 2 hours 25 minutes 31
13% to 100% 2 hours 28 minutes 31.2
Attached Image

This is the charging rate WITHOUT fan-assisted technique:

Energy Time Temperature (Celsius)
11% to 22% 15 mins 36
11% to 33% 30 mins 37.5
11% to 47% 45 mins 39
11% to ??% 1 hr ??
11% to 66% 1 hr 15 mins 40
11% to 74% 1 hr 30 mins ??
11% to 83% 1 hr 45 mins 39.7
11% to 91% 2 hrs 38.2
11% to 96% 2 hrs 15 mins 36
11% to 99% 2 hrs 30 mins 34.5
11% to 100% 2 hrs 35 mins 34
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

CONCLUSION : Battery temperature does NOT have significant effect to charging rate ...

Thanks, I thought so too that snapIt app has a higher jpeg compression as the details is lost after taking the picture while open camera at 100% quality has less compression leading to better detail retention but at using up more memory space.

Hence, for low light or flash assisted pix, use Open Camera.... For daylight, use stock SNAPit...

I ordered via AliExpress but need to wait like 1 month to arrive. But, if you need it fast, get via Lelong but premium price as usual...

AliExpress with FREE shipping @ USD2.84

My hypothesis is that ZF3Z will win even though the energy supplied is lower.. I have the full trust on ZenUI energy management is better than stock/AOSP platform.

Unless ZF3Z is equipped with Grade B quality of 5,000mAh, it will be better in stand-by/idle energy consumption.

However, ZF3Z requires almost 3 hours to fully charge from flat. Whereas, P2 only 2 hours or less...

The replacement for Snap625 is Snap630...

Snap660 is having Kyro processors...my hypothesis is Snap660's energy consumption is "similar" to Snap625 (given all parameters are equal...).

Let's hope the next P3a42 will adopt Snap660 instead of Snap630... Still, I won't upgrade to P3 because P2a42 is doing so well already...

Hmm...but 1 thing I notice is
1. While transferring data from internal to external sd or vice versa, content on external sdcard become unviewable
2. Split screen, opening the 2nd app usually is game relatively slower.

Even my note 3 perform.. but note 3 is few years back flagship and p2 is mid end phone?

Can't complain much tho.. p2 is no flagship

My P-P can play 4K vix without hiccup (even though the Super-AMOLED is 1080P...). Play from UHS-I (or UHS-II microSDXC card is vital for this scenario...).

Just bought a demo unit P2 3 weeks ago for 1199. Quite impressed with the performance and battery life upgrade over my dying HTC One M7 (sub-15 minutes SOT on last few full charges after using for 4 years...sad I know). Overall superb phone for the price range. Might be able to last for at least another 4 years.

Quick question: Should I update to Nougat? It seems that there's many new bugs that are introduced in Nougat OTA. My phone currently is still in the build S062_170117_ROW. But the Nougat OTA already downloaded, just not updated yet. Should I hold off the update or just proceed?

Is there any particular feature u wan to know?

I can test it out for u.
*
No particular problem. Just want to throw the question to see whether there's new bug introduced by N upgrade. So everything should be fine by the OTA update right? Did you do factory reset either before or after the update?

Yup, especially download speed. The 4g signal bar is full, but totally can't surf. However, everything is fine after restarted. Anyone know why? confused.gif

Perhaps it's just a "blip" or "surge" of network connection... next time just turn on-off airplane mode will do... no need to restart P2...

If you just purely look at SoC, they are identical. Look at other priorities like screen quality, screen size, future Android patches/upgrade, camera, sound, weight, SAR, etc. List down your priority and you'll get the "ideal" device...

All bloatwares (McAfee anti-virus, SHAREit app, games, etc.) are removable/un-installable... The UI is AOSP-based... so it's clean and pure...

Poor owners at UK, Poland and Turkey... they are unlikely to get OTA to Nougat because their P2 firmware is controlled by the carriers/telcos...

Lenovo OTA Roadmap

Hence, P2a42 will NOT get Android Oreo... not even 7.1.x... LOL...

Well, my P2 in Poland had originally this branded software but in January I flashed worldwide ROM manually. What probably means that my warranty is voided but this don't bother me. Phones which are sold in stores haven't got any branding obviously. However, branded ones are usually available in auctions for 20-30% lower price than official price in stores. This is also very bad news to the British people: they have the cheapest P2 in the world and their carrier won't be able to bring Nougat officialy... What a shame.

1) I'm used to 5.5inch phines with more than 150g. You may need to visit LeMoto kiosk to test drive and get the feel in your own hands...
2) Good day light is above average. Indoor artificial lighting is average. Pitch dark with flash is above average.

There was an owner back in the thread version 1 last year having camera failure/break due to WhatsApp built-in camera menu. He tried hard reset but to no success. Ended up to claim warranty.

You may wanna try troubleshooting below:
1) Clear the storage and cache for both camera app and file manager app.

3) Settings > Storage settings > Trash cleaner > Scan > Clean.

4) Settings > Storage settings > Internal shared storage > Cached data > Clear cached data > OK.

5) Reboot / restart P2.

Nougat OTA has been good for energy consumption... Similar to previous Mellow but Nougat has extra advantage on idle / standby discharge rate...

Conclusion : It's safe to upgrade to S233_170404_ROW.

I've been really busy recently however I've had some experience about sound recording with Nougat during a concert and it turned out that still I do not recommend bringing a P2 for a concert no matter which app you'll be using. The problem is that with professional speakers a bass is really strong and the P2 simply can deal with it. I've got some samples below:
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

On the 18th of June I'll retest how my P2 does job with car exhausts again but let's say it's usable if you're not too close to the car:
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

EDIT: Today I was on a simillar event and the audio was alright... at least 20-25 metres away from a scene. Even then the recorded sound is loud enough. I'll upload my samples pretty soon as well. No problem even closely to the scene when people are talking.
