Don't worry about overcharging P2. The battery and stock charger have the safety chip to cut any excessive power inputs.

You can tell by feeling the screen while charging. The first 80% during charging, P2 screen will feel slightly warm. But from 80% to 100%, P2 is totally cool as if it is not attached to power socket.

However, frequently overcharging/prolong charge is not encouraged as this practice may affect the chips inside the battery and charger.

You may use power timer below to avoid overcharging at night...

I would set the power timer to be "ON" from 4am till 6am. Meaning the charging period is 2 hours while we are sleeping.

Just don't run the battery flat or lease as possible. When the device shuts down from a low battery, it's not dead, but drops below a set Voltage to protect the battery from damage. You can charge it to only 90% if you are really worried about keeping battery as healthy as possible.

I see..if we always charged to 100%, the lifespan of the battery will be shorter then?...

according to battery university, yes, you shouldn't charge to 100% to keep the battery healthy,

"Li-ion does not need to be fully charged as is the case with lead acid, nor is it desirable to do so. In fact, it is better not to fully charge because a high voltage stresses the battery."
