Looking at the Intel i7 13700K TDP almost reaching 300W is quite a lot. Would my Corsair HX750W be enough if I were to game with a GTX4070/4080 in the future or something?

Even on my 3090 I has to scour the internet to see what PSU other people use. For example asus strix and thor psus will has shutdown issues even when the thor is 1200w, AX1200i has issues too iinm. but HX is very good psu. This post has been edited by terradrive: Jan 23 2023, 09:03 AM |

It's not gonna hit that in normal everyday use including gaming. unless u bench a lot...........u can limit the max limit in bios settings. |

So, an Intel i7-3700K vs 7700 vs 7700... it seems performance wise, the Intel wins but at the expense of higher TDP? 7700X and the Intel chip is around the same price Also, I read that Intel boards are compatible with DDR4 RAM while AM5 is only DDR5. |

QUOTE(-kytz- @ Jan 26 2023, 12:25 AM) Thanks! if going for 13700k/kf, why cheapout on DDR4 since intel 13th gen k series is very picky on RAM speed on both DDR4 & 5. Currently there are one game that i know of (or maybe future games coded to take advantage of DDR5) that even the cheapest 4800 ddr5 is way faster than the fastest ddr4 on it.So, an Intel i7-3700K vs 7700 vs 7700... it seems performance wise, the Intel wins but at the expense of higher TDP? 7700X and the Intel chip is around the same price Also, I read that Intel boards are compatible with DDR4 RAM while AM5 is only DDR5. for ryzen it seems going from 4800 ddr5 to 6000 ddr5 have very small gains, actually good news right if can wait, maybe look at the 7700x3d This post has been edited by terradrive: Jan 26 2023, 10:57 AM |

Very nice suggestion bro. I read that the 3D CPUs are catered for gaming yeah? Expected price around RM2,500? it does rumored to have only 89C max temp programmed to it, and also have rumor it's not overclocking locked like the 5800x3d This post has been edited by terradrive: Jan 26 2023, 05:42 PM |

My thinking is scenario (2) but have to spend extra $$ for a newer motherboard and possibly ram too |

QUOTE(terradrive @ Jan 10 2023, 10:58 AM) No, AMD set the max tjmax for the 7000 series x3d chips at 89C. So I guess how much performance you get depends on how good your cooler is because the CPU will keep on ramping up until it hits the temp limit or power limit Yes but there is a limit. If your cooler is good enough it will draw until the max limited power draw, and your temperature won't be touching that 95c whatever limit. Basically IF power draw not maxed { WHILE (temps not yet 95c or power draw not yet maxed) DRAW AS MUCH POWER AS YOU CAN. } *crap my programming syntax doesn't work too well here but you get the drift. |
