But, for Petronas Visa, the benefit only for weekends? I am refilling petrol every 2 days. That is why I am considering the Amex (maybank2kard) for the 5x points reward, but not sure if can be used at most petrol pumps or not confused.gif

where are you located?

if you are nearby Petronas Puchong-Sg Besi Bypass, go there on weekend.

buy petronas gift card, reload the gift card with mbb ikhwan petronas there. assuming your daily mileage of 120km consumes RM20 petrol per day, 5-day week is RM100 petrol worth. so, reload the petronas gift card for about rm100 per week usage or rm200 for about 2 weeks usage. at least the gift card credit can be used anyday.

caveats are:

1) only one petronas location so far reported allow cc to reload gift card. and also tng too. waze this >> Petronas Puchong-Sg Besi Bypass
2) reload on weekend, sat and sun. pump with gift card if needed on weekdays, pump at any petronas on weekends.
3) there is a surcharge when reloading gift card/tng card. if reload RM100, surcharge is 1% or RM1. reload rm150, surcharge is RM2 (rounded up). RM100+RM1 surcharge will be both charged to the card, and in return should get 8% cb for that amount (RM101).

add-on:

Petronas Hartamas got sell Gift card Rm100 with value RM105 inside card. cannot use cc to buy. use cash to buy this gift card first. upfront got 5% extra dy. then drop by Petronas Puchong-Sg Besi Bypass on future weekends to reload.

Thanks for the suggestion. But cant work for my case since I am traveling all the way from Karak to Genting Highland.
Anyway, I have another random question, does using maybank zing card (linked to amex) will give you points for reload? I suspect not lol.

Don't see any good HSBC card for cashback (the Amanah one is meh, need to spend over 2k to get 8% CB) just to take advantage of the RM300 Lazada voucher tongue.gif

I supposed yes for the Zing card. I don't see why it's not.

Nothing interesting with HSBC cards. One of the banks which I have banned. Got tricked by them to sign up. When signed up told me after I spent x amount I will get a tablet which I did, called CS and they told me I'm not eligible as it's over. I should be entitled for Cerruti 1881 watch instead but at the end still didn't get anything because they told me both also not eligible. I was so silly that time I didn't complain to BNM.

So among these 3, if there is a monthly expenditure of , let's say, RM 2000 which isn't inclusive of petrol, groceries, or insurance payments , SCB cash back would be the best among these 3?

got rejected for Maybank Ikhwan Petronas Card.

quite bummed about it. immediately went to CIMB and applied for Cash Rebate & CIMB petronas cash rebate card. got approval after one hour. But still, liked Maybank because of the treats points. Now dont see any reason to use my Maybank 2 card

i) SCB Cash Back Gold - The way to maximize the Cash-back % is by spending exactly (RM) 500, 833 or 1500 (Not Petrol & Insurance) & You will get either 2%, 3% or 3.33% effective cash back. thumbup.gif
https://www.sc.com/my/assets/pws/pdf/CashBa...Product-TnC.pdf

ii) Alliance You:nique - RM3000 (Spend) = RM (1000 x 0.5%) + (1000 x 1.5%) + (1000 x 3%) = 5 + 15 + 30 = Max. RM50 CB, & after RM3k it's Only 0.3% (No Cap).

Monthly Spend (RM) Rebate (%)
0 - 1,000 0.50
1,001 - 2,0001.50
2,001 - 3,0003.00
> 3,0000.30

iii) HLB Essential
• 0.6% Unlimited cash back on insurance transactions Or Other retail transactions, NO CB on Petrol transaction
• 0.6% cash back on RM5,000 spend (tier 1)
• 1% Unlimited cash back on subsequent spend (tier 2)

Hi fly126,

Tnc states:
2% CashBack on your cashback transactions when you spend a minimum of RM500 but less
than RM800 per month in retail purchases (local and international) on your CashBack Gold
MasterCard as shown in your credit card statement, subject to a cap of RM10 per month.

Does that mean utility bill payments are not included in minimum spending of RM500?

Any Retail Spend will included & Bill payment also entitled for CB. As long as it's NOT a Petrol or Insurance Transaction.
