General Usage CC:
I) HLB Fortune - 1% CB but need min. Spend Rm2K /month to Activate the 1% CB Mechanism https://www.hlb.com.my/main/personal/cards/fortune-card

II) HLB Essential: 0.6% on 1st RM5000 spend, 1% cash back on Subsequent spend, NO cashback on Petrol Transaction.

III) SCB Cashback Gold: 2 - 5% CB with min spend $500, NO CB for Petrol, Insurance Transactions. https://www.sc.com/my/credit-cards/goldcard/gold-card.html

IV) OCBC 365 Mastercard: 1% CB on 1st RM1K Spend, 0.5% cash-back on subsequent spend (Annual Fee RM106)

V) Alliance You:nique: 0.5 - 3% CB from RM0 - RM3000 Spending http://www.alliancebank.com.my/younique
Monthly Spend (RM) Rebate (%)
0 - 1,0000.50
1,001 - 2,0001.50
2,001 - 3,0003.00
> 3,0000.30
HOW Alliance You:nique Cashback tier Works - RM3000 (Spend) = RM (1000 x 0.5%) + (1000 x 1.5%) + (1000 x 3%) = 5 + 15 + 30 = Max. RM50 CB, & after RM3k it's Only 0.3% (No Cap).

Honestly, no better choice than Maybank Ikhwan MasterCard (Fridays and Saturdays) and Ikhwan Visa Petronas (Saturdays and Sundays). Free AF. 5% cash back for MasterCard and 8% for Visa Petronas.

Else, you can apply CIMB Cash Rebate which only gives 2% for petrol and groceries.

Utilities, I can think of YOLO but you wanted free AF, it is only free for first year.

well, based on the links that you shared, it seems like they practiced like this. so, i am going for other banks 1st before coming back for citibank.

Ya, Try to get a Basic CC from the bank of your salary credit into... becos of they got your salary transaction info& maybe not too Stingy to approve their Credit Card to you.

You can own a basic credit card to Build up your Credit History 1st, the Card like CIMB CR or MBB Ikhwan MC quite a decent Card for a NewB like U becos of it's Free for Life no worry with Annual fee.
Other cards u can consider HLB Essential, HLB Mach AF waiver with 12x swipes p.a only.

After that, your may get 2nd CC & it can be something that offers extra benefits based on your lifestyle and spending habits like, UOB One or Citibank CB Card. wink.gif

Or you can apply a general card like SCB Cash Back but it comes with AF. Not sure how easy that is waived but my sister got hers auto-waived every year though she hardly spends on this card. This is a risk though for AF cards.

1. Annual Income: 24-28k

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Yes (but willing to consider)

3. Card required for: Cash Back/Rebate/Rewards for groceries, shopping, dining, Uber

4. Existing credit cards (if any): None

5. Interested in CC from: Either CIMB or Maybank, but willing to choose others

6. Others: I am looking for a CC that I can maximise my rewards/cashback (either is OK). However, I don't really spend a lot every month (less than RM1K). Essentially, my monthly spendings are groceries, dining, Uber, postpaid, TouchNGo, and sometimes entertainment (movies), shopping, and travel/flights.

TQ in advance!

1. Annual Income: 50K (Can bump up to 100K if there's a great card)

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Yes

3. Card required for: Cash Back for petrol, dining and online transactions are important

4. Existing credit cards (if any): Hong Leong Wise

5. Interested in CC from: Any banks

6. Others: Going for the PB Visa Signature, maybe sifus here have other recommendations. I'm a very frugal person by nature, spending is at most maybe RM12K per annum from credit cards. Most of the transactions are on petrol, dining and online transactions (lazada and steam mostly). So I'm looking for cashbacks in that area.

Thank you all! notworthy.gif
