Yes. Dish HD is using on North East Asia beam, so it is not receivable in Malaysia. And yeah, they are known for using HEVC codec too.

Ansa can create a milestone in Malaysia by making the first pay TV in Malaysia to implement HEVC on its channels. With better video compression codec, they can put more channels in one transponder compared to MPEG4.
*
But HEVC licensing cost is a bomb right now.

To use HEVC, there are at least minimum 4 big licensors demanding royalty from its usage.

rclxub.gif

Instead of creating a milestone, I think Ansa would become bankrupt before it even start to broadcast.

LOL, seriously? Okay... Looks that implementing HEVC technology for broadcasters is still a long way to go.

Serious!

-MPEG LA
-HEVC Advance
-Velos Media
-Technicolor

Wikipedia entry comparison with H264 would be a good reading.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_Efficien...t_license_terms

H264 era = only pay for one pool holder MPEG LA.

rclxub.gif

Way too long to go....but if thing continue.......maybe AV1 will be the future..... hmm.gif

The licensing fees are one of the main reasons HEVC adoption has been low on the web and is why some of the largest tech companies (Amazon, AMD, ARM, Cisco, Google, Intel, Microsoft, Mozilla, Netflix, Nvidia, and more) have joined the Alliance for Open Media, which aims to finalize the royalty-free alternative video coding format AV1 by the end of 2017.

You are true.
Even big company like Google also not willing to pay all 4 develop patent.. laugh.gif laugh.gif

HyppTV already say, they will offer 4K channel soon in Malaysia. But, 4K channel in Measat 3/3a just only have two 4K channel. So, i think both Astro, HyppTV & Ansa would take up 5-7 years more to used either HEVC or AV1 codec to offer 4K channel. When the public 4K TV is widely use worldwide... doh.gif doh.gif

From the look of the dish, aligning the dish from Measat to ABS 2 appears that it only move a little bit, and it doesn't different much.

In most cases, if you can receive Measat, you should be able to receive ABS 2, unless you really unlucky to have obstructions.

Oh mean the same dish position, can get both signal lor..
Good since there's won't be much changes..

Anyhow, u think Ansa will use which satellite for their service? Any hint tongue.gif

You know that it not worth to buy 4K TV for now.

Unless, you are YouTuber & can afford to buy 4K camera or smartphone that can shoot video up to 2160p resolution@30fps. But, majority in youtube views see that demands for 4K content are already acceptable. 4K@60fps is the next hype, the picture will be more smooth. Again, the problem is YouTube still not support 4K@60fps.

Imagine you shoot Malaysia travel destination & upload in YouTube in 2160p. For sure, your video will be top notch. And, the viewers can see 4K life in stunning 4K TV or Computer. For now, smartphone flagship still limit up to 2K resolution.. laugh.gif laugh.gif

Even if HyppTV starts 4K channel in Malaysia... High-Speed broadband (20mb minimum) is required so not everyone can get to watch because the problem is UniFi is not nationwide and the coverage now does not cover many places.

I suggest TM better not concentrate on 4K and put more efforts on expanding UniFi coverage to many many more places. With UniFi, at least HyppTV can be watched in better HD quality. TM belum lagi belajar cara berjalan, tapi mahu pergi berlari... tak masuk akal.

With wider coverage for UniFi, with HyppTV, at least a bit of competition can put some pressure against Assteruk.

HyppTV 4K channel? Netflix already have 4K content BUT not everyone nationwide can watch loh. What I noticed for the Netflix 4K quality when using UniFi speed of 30mb is... not good enough and I "believe" will not be as good as Satellite 4K video.
