How do I use the Alchemy? I only have Crysis Warhead installed in my PC and the Alchemy shows no supported games. Add them in manually? Game folder path is directly to the .exe ?

Crysis and Crysis Warhead have its own sound engine, and have no support for EAX. Check here for supported games

EAX is dead. So is OpenAL. There's hardly any new games that support EAX nowadays. Creative card's basically has lose their edge. No point buying Creative cards anymore. Sad, but true.

Oh no, not this s*** again, will you stop posting POS like this? If EAX is sooo dead why do ASUS sells their card say thet can do EAX emulation in the first place? There is still new games that comes out still using EAX, like Cryostasis and Assasin Creed. You just say 'EAX and OpenAL' is dead because you hate them, sad but true

EAX is not dead yet, but why companies opt to use their own sound engine instead of EAX? IS it because onboard audio now is reliable?

Are you on Windows XP (But judging from the screenies, I suppose you're on Vista)? If I am not mistaken, DTS Connect is only available in Vista hmm.gif I have no problem installing the DDL and DTSC pack from Creative though.

Some companies prefer to use their own sound engine because they want to eliminate the dependence on a certain hardware. Crysis for example, uses its own software based sound engine so users, regardless whether they own a dedicated sound card or just plain onboard audio, can still have the same gaming experience... IMO la smile.gif

you upgrade in terms of interface (PCI --> PCIE) which doesn't help to improve the sound quality at all...

ASUS is just doing that for marketing gimmick. Assasin Creed a 'new' game? Cmon lar. doh.gif

All the new games i'm playing the last 1 year+...NONE have EAX. SFIV, DMC4, Red Alert 3, RA3:Uprising, GTAIV, Wolverine, and a whole list of others. Nada. Zilch.

Unlike maybe like 3 years ago, almost most top titles support EAX. Do some research before you start your fanboyism. Here, try this: http://www.soundblaster.com/technology/?gameId=00004

Just how many "new" games(and hot titles) are there on the list? And Mass Effect and BioShock still there....what 2 years old games?

I'm merely stating facts. So you can keep your fanboyism to yourself. doh.gif

Assasin Creed launch last year on PC, so its reasonably new.

So why you stating the same old thing over and over again? Whats your point?

I buy Creative cards NOT just because it have EAX or I'm a fanboy, its the easiest card for me to mod, its cheap to buy, my Elite Pro only costs RM250 2nd hand, reasonable good driver support and it can do bit-perfect out for music which ALL ASUS cards can't do, even the Xonar STX/ST

King of Lowyat.Net, yeah right. Keep your whining to yourself. Nobody mention EAX support, what games does it support, or is there any new games supporting it in the first place.

Fine, live in your turtle shell. Whether it's easy for you to mod or not is frankly hardly a selling point. How many people actually go mod their cards?? 0.001%??

Who mentioned EAX??? You got Parkinson disease?? lol.

I highlight this issue to share information with other users, so that they don't buy Creative cards for the wrong reason, expecting EAX and 'best gaming sound card', when the sound has already left the games. And what is your agenda? Nobody buy creative cards and you have no business modding, hmmm??? biggrin.gif

You can keep yapping here all you want, loser. cool2.gif

Yea loh. Why so many people like to come to online forum and argue.
Not only lowyat forum.
Some more they like to call people loser.
If they so winner, straight away post out handphone number and say meet outside and give location to discuss/argue/fight.
Loser calling ppl loser = loser to the power of 2 sweat.gif

Btw, I did bypass for my opamp caps, the DC-offset was too much with all 4 removed. I was able to "hear" the offset through my IEM. I immediately turned off and placed back the caps. =\ I guess Audigy original design not that good.

For me EAX or OpenAL not dead yet, just that some games just dont come with it supported. Pity, wonder why they dont want to support it.

Is it because EAX and OpenAL is not good enough?
Is it because they are "lazy" to support it?
Is it because there is a better alternative?
Is it because they think EAX is starting to be a nuisance?

Well, I guess its the same as XtremeMusic, when the caps are shorted the DC offset is off the scale.

Maybe they need to pay Creative some sort of royalty for each every game they sold?
