QUOTE(nic_chm @ Mar 28 2008, 11:51 AM) For you guys information, the latest SZ 79 & 75 and TZ series comes with one Window XP professional SP2 CD installation for them to downgrade to XP. This is because there are still alot business software which is still using XP version and its not compatible with window Vista, so in this case, most of the businessman will prefer to downgrade it instead of stick with window vista. You see, one more selling point for VAIO. haha ! who say VAIO not good ? All the drivers can refer to http://www.sony-asia.com . Lookfor your model and download the driver if you happen to downgrade it to XP. |

hi there..
posting this regarding some issues about RAM on my VGN-FE45G... i have downgraded my vista home premium to xp pro... i made a dual-boot system by using a porgram named EasyBCD. usually when i boot up the laptop, it will enter a selection screen to choose either xp or vista to boot. it's running fine for coming a month or so. wanted to upgrade the ram of the system.so decided to try my friend's ram if it is able to support more than 2gb. sony told me this laptop max 2gb. i slotted in 1 2gig ram and 1gig ram, making a total of 3gb. went into the BIOS, saw tat it was running fine as it is able to recognise the ram. tried booting up my system...but the selection screen wasnt showing up anymore, but instead, after a long wait, it boots to vista..and when i check the ram in the vista system, it showed 3gb of ram.. so now i'm wondering, how come i cant access the boot selection screen? need some one to shed some light about this. thanks in advance. |

QUOTE(MalevolentJustin @ Mar 29 2008, 12:29 AM) anyway that i can actually change the factory setting as u said? since it has 2 slot ram, each slot with 1gb ram and make it total of 2gb ram.cos i really need the additional 2gb of ram due to my school course you cant change the max ram support anyway for that fe45g. you can still let the 3gb ram in your vaio, just expect other problem arise later.. it's up to you. but i advice just follow the laptop req. |

Basically, it showed 3gb ram memory doesn't mean that it can really support up to 3gb ram. Other than that, the factory setting you can't changed it.thanks in advance. It was something like your operating system inside. For instance, your OS comes with english and traditional chinese. If let's say you want to install other languages as your language for OS by inserting CD which you purchased from other country. I can tell you, it can't work at all. This happened oftenly whereby customer from foreign country were told that they can actually purchase the language pack from their country and install it, everything will be fine. All this is bull sh~t. Unless you try your own method by hacking the system inside which is illegal. So, in this case, we can conclude that we can't really change the factory setting. Just an advice to you. Yes, your course work need more than 2 gb, but your laptop can't support until so high. You can actually try it out, but we can't really guarantee that no problem will arise later. |

The headphones that I got are too small and they don't seem to plug in properly. I haven't even opened my laptop cooler yet, as I haven't faced any overheating problems. |
