Yes, as far as i am concern, Since SZ 55, 56, 58 till now SZ 75, 79, there is one specific application on middle top of the window which enable you to turn on and off the wireless, Bluetooth, network LAN and Modem.

For CR series, battery can last the most for 2 hours or less.

For students, CR series would be perfect. The latest CR35 is using T8100 penryn processor inwhich the gap between the processor just 45nm compared to previous series which is still using the Santa Rosa Processor ( 65nm ).

Previous CR23 doesn't comes with any other graphic card ( Just standard Intel Graphic ), now CR35 comes with ATI graphic card. I had compared CR35 and SZ79 which is using nVidia, both Graphic memory are the same value.
But the price differs alot . CR35 RM4488, SZ79 RM7988.

Yeap, if were to compared between weight and Battery life, CR cannot beat SZ since SZ is meant for portable used.
But do remember, there is one switchable button in SZ inwhich you can switch from Stamina to Speed from time to time.

In Stamina Mode, the laptop itself will used the built in Intel Graphoc card and the brightness will become lower. Performance will not be 100% .

In Speed Mode, the laptop itself will used nVidia Geforce Graphic card which enhance the colours and brightness oso will turn to Max. Performance 100% .

No need to worry about the warranty given.
The one year warranty is comes together with the laptop itself.
There is one card inside the box stated that, if you register the product serial number and everything through online, you can definitely get another 3 more months warranty. That means all together 15 months warranty.

Other than that, Sony provides a very good after sales service. The service is something like this.
Sometimes, Problems that might occured when you are using your laptop, mostly infected by virus or just the setting problems. In this case, you can actualyl feel free to back to Sony style direct store to seek for help. And one thing, all the service provided is TOTALLY FREE ! ( not applied on hardware services )
For instance, Reformating, creating recovery discs, upgrade or downgrade.

In this case, Warranty will not be an issue anymore.

If you wish to extend warranty to maximum 3 years, if not mistaken, you need to pay another additional RM430. But i can tell you, warranty useless as long as the after sales service which is lifetime is concern.

For ATI Graphics Models
a. Instant Mode can not be used.
b. AV Mode button can not be used.

Intel Graphics Models:
a. Instant Mode can not be used.
b. AV Mode button can not be used.
c. Fn+F5/F6(Brightness Control function can not be used)

Atheros Wireless LAN models
a. Wireless LAN Switch utility can not control Atheros wireless LAN device.

Personally, i don't think sony Vaio are not stable, if it is true that Sony VAIO is not stable, then their market value wont be so high in the market compared to others.
Furthermore, VAIO is not only well known with its performance in local, but also in oversea.
Other than that, with 10 years of R & D in computing line, i dont think it is impossible for them to come out with a great performance laptop.
For you guys information, lately, Sony VAIO is the first brand which comes out with Penryn processor.
An addition, SONY is the biggest distributor in battery cells to most of the brand in Malaysia. In this case, if let's say VAIO battery got problem, then others confirm got the same problem too. Meaning because all of them are using the same technology in their battery cells.
Regarding about the battery heating problems, i don't think it is true. For you guys information, there are alot of retails shop in Malaysia in which their VAIO display unit were displayed with battery attached to it. Just imagine, they on their VAIO for whole day also no problem, it should be no problem to you right ? =)
Furthermore, VAIO laptop even you on it for whole day, the bottom part wont get heat easily compared to other brand.
Thats why you can see during PC fair, other brands seller will definitely put one cooling pad underneath their laptop and make it as selling point inwhich the cooling pad are given for free with that particular purchase. This is because, their laptop will get heated easily after on it for around 20-30 minutes.

Your fren work in Sony centre which belongs to the dealers shop or one of the Sony Direct Store ? KLCC, Times Square and The Curve ?

Those who didn't undergoes training before will said so because even they can sell Vaio everyday but they don't really know how to function all the special features and programs that comes with it.
That's why they will actually think that VAIO is pricey and not worth it.

Trust me, you will surely loves all the programs that comes with the laptop itself.

For you guys information, the latest SZ 79 & 75 and TZ series comes with one Window XP professional SP2 CD installation for them to downgrade to XP.
This is because there are still alot business software which is still using XP version and its not compatible with window Vista, so in this case, most of the businessman will prefer to downgrade it instead of stick with window vista. You see, one more selling point for VAIO. haha ! who say VAIO not good ?

All the drivers can refer to http://www.sony-asia.com . Lookfor your model and download the driver if you happen to downgrade it to XP.

Basically, it showed 3gb ram memory doesn't mean that it can really support up to 3gb ram. Other than that, the factory setting you can't changed it.

It was something like your operating system inside.

For instance, your OS comes with english and traditional chinese.
If let's say you want to install other languages as your language for OS by inserting CD which you purchased from other country.
I can tell you, it can't work at all. This happened oftenly whereby customer from foreign country were told that they can actually purchase the language pack from their country and install it, everything will be fine. All this is bull sh~t. Unless you try your own method by hacking the system inside which is illegal.

So, in this case, we can conclude that we can't really change the factory setting.

Just an advice to you. Yes, your course work need more than 2 gb, but your laptop can't support until so high. You can actually try it out, but we can't really guarantee that no problem will arise later.

Most probably they will ask you to send it for service. Haha

Which sony centre did you visit ? which model you wanna upgrade to 2Gb ?
Normally in direct store like Sony Style, 1gb RAM = RM 538, 2gb RAM = RM639 if not mstaken.
The RAM normally they will put in kingston Brand. The one that comes together with VAIO laptop if not mistaken the brand is something like Quaram.
Personally, if you wish to upgrade your ram, you can actually do it in lowyat which you can find the price much lower.

According to JEITA Battery Run Time Measurement Method, estimated battery life is around 4 hours. But practically it can last around 2 hours for max.
You cant actually balance everything since you want BEST performance, of coz your battery will be used up in short period of time. Rmb, urs is using Core2Duo, no longer solo core processor.
If you want to have longer battery life, just go to power option there select which mode that you want. Power Sacing mode or etc etc.

Er, Bro, TX57 using solo core processor with 1.33Ghz speed only, what you expect ? To enhance the speed, what you can do is just upgrade the RAM. But do take note, the max Ram you can actually go is 1.5gb Ram. Thanks =)
Err, to downgrade your TX57 to window XP at cost, is impossible to do so. Unless you have the Window XP professional SP2 installation CD. Then, go to this website -- >

Download the Window XP downgrade drivers which will takes you around 1 day +, after that downgrade yourself.

Or lets say you want someone to help you, just download the drivers everything and saved it inside your pendrive, after that bring ur pendrive + your laptop + Window XP installation CD, ask Sony Style staff to help you at no cost.
If you back to those Sony centre which owned by dealers, confirmed will have some charges on it. By the way, Good luck, coz i do the downgrade for TZ series before, took a loooooooooooooooong time.

What i can say is, so far, this model can be consider a very GOOD model which comes with latest technology and reasonable price compared to other brand. Some people they just comparing btw the specs given but they actually ignored all those softwares that comes together with the laptop itself. Everything compact inside. But do rmb, Microsoft is NOT INCLUDED nowadays. Do keep some budget for it.

Mate, if the model you are looking for is a VAIO brand, the warranty given from any dealers or any sony centre are the same. On behind of the warranty card, you can actually see contact numbers stated there for every different state in Malaysia. Just call and ask which service centre is the nearest in your place when u faced some difficulties with your laptop.
Well, of coz, first of all, just call back to the shop where you purchased it. Ask for technical support from them first since they received your money. Make sure they do something for you.

Yeap, Kantiaros is right. The VAIO OverSea service ( VOS ) is running together with your local warranty and only apply when you travel to other country.

FYI, your RAM from S46 can be used in TX57 since both are using DDR2 RAM. It's compatible.
But, do remember, TX57 only got one slot available for the RAM itself. You cant take out ur S46 RAM to put into your TX.
Now inside your TX57 laptop adi got 512mb memory + your additional 512mb RAM, so your laptop already have 1GB ram.
So in this case, inorder to become 1.5GB RAM, you need to purchase another 1GB DDR2 RAM to slot in, inorder to get 1.5GB RAM for your laptop.
The extra 513mb u just keep it bah.

Yea, T series mostly for longer battery life and the performance wise is not that great if were to compared with S series since S series always the top of the range laptop in VAIO.

Well, i heard some news from Asus side, in coming PC fair, they are the only one who comes with 2 years international warranty. Take notes, it's international warranty.
This might be their weapon during PC fair i guess.. lol

Most of the brand offering free mouse, cooler, pendrive etc etc, if not they cant sell at all

During Pc fair, 1 Gb ram around RM50.. 2Gb around RM110.

It is possible if you have the window vista business .. But the question is, why you wan to do so ? nothing much difference since CR35 is not meant for business used, doesnt comes with all those security things like TPM security chips and so on.

For every laptop itself, there is nothing much you can actually upgrade it. Just the RAM itself and whether you wan to upgrade or downgrade ur OS. tHats all =)

Er, not to forget, if you upgrade the hard disk itself, you will definitely void the warranty itself. Furthermore, try at ur own risk.

Yeap, after heavy use for some period of time, the fan will have some noise... But it wont happen all the while.. Just happen once a while.. If you felt that it's annoying, try to send in for check up =)

As what mentioned by others, go sony center for the first year, the following years if you wish to claim the warranty itself, go Denki side to repair. ^^

Yea, for CR35 the max hours it can goes is 2.5 hours... actually depands on your usage.. Like what you mentioned, you using it for video purpose, of coz the battery used up faster compared to you used it for typing purposes.. Erm, to know furthermore about how to save your battery .. Go "Power Option", choose the mode that you prefer. ^^


Erm, at the mean time, Window Vista just can only read up to 3.5Gb Ram.. So, stil not recommend for you to upgrade to 4GB since you cant reallty fully utilize it yet.

Yeap, you can keep the battery which is fully charged for quite sometimes, but there might be high possibilities that there will be abit bit of energy lose.
