hi there...
i'm a user of the sony FE45G/W model.
my vaio came with pre-installed vista home premium. because of my school, i need to use XP Pro for their programs and such, so i'm did a dual-boot and haf both vista and xp pro..
problems is that, i need the graphics driver(nvidia geforce go 7600), and the Fn buttons are not working, making my vaio unable to b displayed on the projector when the VGA is connected...
i know whenever u nid to change the display u hold onto Fn button and press the F1 - 12 keys, which ever that have a monitor logo on it.. But mine doesn't work.. can anyone please enlighten me on my problem?
another thing is, the battery life last roughly 1hr and 10 mins at the max when running XP, but when running vista, i can run a max of 2.5hr... any idea what can i do? as in like, is there any software or a sony driver where by it helps to maximise ur battery?
i've been told by the sales person that this laptop model can support up to maximum 2Gb RAM. can i actually change it to higher? like mayb 4gb ram?
thanks in advance.

QUOTE(hangy2k @ Mar 7 2008, 01:09 AM) you can upgrade to 4gb, but windows xp 32bits can only see 3gb max.. my SZ in manual also mention only 2gb max, but i tried with 4gb no problem, showing 3gb.. now i am using 1gb x 1 + 2gb x 1 ok...thanks for the info... i do know xp maximum 3gb ram... cos u know, running vista is not really easy on the resources...thus wanting to upgrade the ram =x

hi there..
posting this regarding some issues about RAM on my VGN-FE45G...
i have downgraded my vista home premium to xp pro... i made a dual-boot system by using a porgram named EasyBCD.
usually when i boot up the laptop, it will enter a selection screen to choose either xp or vista to boot.
it's running fine for coming a month or so. wanted to upgrade the ram of the system.so decided to try my friend's ram if it is able to support more than 2gb. sony told me this laptop max 2gb. i slotted in 1 2gig ram and 1gig ram, making a total of 3gb. went into the BIOS, saw tat it was running fine as it is able to recognise the ram.
tried booting up my system...but the selection screen wasnt showing up anymore, but instead, after a long wait, it boots to vista..and when i check the ram in the vista system, it showed 3gb of ram..
so now i'm wondering, how come i cant access the boot selection screen?
need some one to shed some light about this.
thanks in advance.

QUOTE(Miyabi @ Mar 28 2008, 10:13 PM) your vaio can have max of 2gb ram. no more than that..although intel 945PM mobo can support up to 4gb, but due to factory setting, it has the capability to have max of 2gb. you now trying to force your vaio with 3gb which is unhealthy. better avoid the usage of more than 2gb. might harm the bios.. just my advice anyway that i can actually change the factory setting as u said? cos i really need the additional 2gb of ram due to my school course
