Getting better now, my wound most are dried out. My tigh part still a pain when moving/walking around.
Good to hear that the wounds have dried out. Now the annoying part is when the skin pulls as it stretches. Kinda helps to apply aloe vera to soften the scabs so they won't reopen when your skin stretches

Today first time ride 40k non stop.. hmm a bit hurtful for my pelvis bones..
Bah. my 45km ride got interrupted by rain started raining on the 3km, sheltered at a petrol station for 2 1/2 hours before heading back. only 6 km today instead of the expected 45

The skin pull thing is not that annoying for now except for the tigh part. I do pull out few of the dry skin if possible or else leave it to drop by itself. I hope the bike repair cost wont be that expensive since the rear derailuer will rub the wheel spoke when i put into the Highest (easist) gear.

IF helmet offers no aero advantage I believe the pros would not even bother putting it on.. On the pros they simply don't care about their life to fight for the champions.. Safety is the last thing they would be concern off unless it's made mandatory..

I remember some rider complain about overheating with helmet on during the climbing on mount ventoux. Until someone died then UCI made it compulsory

good to know... take good care of yourself... scars are the least of issues... if wounds get infected... that'd be a long drawn out one...
maybe you can wear tights when are house.. at least it limits the frictions between both your thighs when walking (if that is the cause of pain).. but then again.. not airy enough might not promote wound healing...

added question: the free wheeling sound of my rear wheel was quite low previously until yesterday when I changed the rear tube myself then the free wheeling sound is a whole lot more buzzier than before. anything that i've done wrong in putting up my rear wheel? what's the cause? thx
the fulcrums are usually quite loud.. i own FR7's... the 1st gen ones... they are loud then.. not sure about the new straight pull spoke models..
there is no possible way a tube can effect the sound of freewheel.. not that i know of... if not, it'd be a big hit as most people like loud freewheeling hubs nowadays...
that is unless you have messed with the hub locknut.... which remotely is the cause for louder noise..

then you should think how much hurt is a century ride.. quadruple of your 40k...
better start training and getting used to it if you plan to join future PCC century rides..
that will make you look like the competitors in red bull road rage... suicidal downhill attempts....

I think if someone in pro cycling circuit began to wear knee/elbow pad. The trend will spread like fire.

if you can get near to joo ngan uptown.. ksh cycle is darn near... jus a stone throw away in TTDI...

helmet does offer no aero advantage.. i believe a bald head is much more aero than todays helmets... this of course does not take into account aero helmets used for TTs and track pursuit events...
no one died from overheating with a helmet on... but a kazakh rider by the name of andrei kivilev did die in 2003 from a fall after a several riders collided... and the UCI made it compulsory to wear helmets after that... no exceptions made...
prior to that.. they were asked to wear helmets on flat stages and whenever they pass the mass public to give an image that the sport was safe and it was the riders responsibility to educate the public on riding safety... they were allowed to take off their helmets also on stages where it was a mountain top finish...

1) TIME - work is frm 9am to 8pm monday to friday.... after 8pm it is called night cycling...it is dangerous as drivers tend to drive faster at night and u r not tat visible to them compared to day
2) SUN - even if u opt to cycle on saturday and sunday..after 10am the sun comes out..and u will become african in no time if u keep cycling after 10am say till 11am
3) RAIN- it always rain in this country. you will nvr know when the ur nicely planned schedule will be interupted
4) COMMUNITY - it seems difficult for me to get in touch with a group of cyclist who are willing to cycle on a regular basis say 2 nights per week and once during the weekend.... i just don't know whr to find cyclists besides my usual group who rides frm 730am to 11.30am every sat or sun
5) SAFETY - i ride twice long distance before... most of the drivers pretty much won't slow down when they spot cyclists on the road.. well may 1 or 2 out of 10 will actually slow down for u....u have to be really careful when drivers are sleepy and they might ramp into u eventho it's perfectly due to no fault of yours...roads are pretty narrow too...there is no cycling lane..

There's times when on weekdays, I head out to the Kesas at 6am. Will be done with the 30km route and reached home by 7.15 or so. Then get ready to head out to work.
A lot depends on the availability of good routes. Kesas seems to be very popular cause of the bike lane. The 2 groups (one in Sunway and one in Puchong) that I cycle with tends to use that a lot on various days. Night rides on weekdays, or Saturday morning rides (both towards the Bukit Jalil side, and towards the Klang side).
Rides at the Cyberjaya and Putrajaya areas are popular too on weekends, as there's less traffic on the roads.
Also night rides is the main reason why I use the huge magic shine light. Makes you very visible especially when its set to blink as compared to the smaller lights.

silvy...cycling is undoubtedly one of the toughest sport that i have ever known or tried to date...
despite the fact that you have to brave mother nature at times, risk your gonads for a ride, and possibly ride in solitary... it is one of the most wonderful sport that i have also known to date despite the sometimes negative outlook it projects to outsiders... nothing in the form of an athletic, ball or team sport comes close to it..
where have you found another sport which brings you to far and remote places and allows you to be an adventurer exploring unknown terrains, enjoy beautiful scenery or engage in it with or without having to get together a bunch of people or book a venue for it?
so, out of no logical reasoning... my take on it
1) TIME - time is what you make out of it... if you have the will and interest to ride... be it 8PM or 3AM, you ride no matter what the time is...
2) SUN - be an early bird or sunblock is your friend, and if you like to show that you are the gung-ho cyclist that you are.. you can show off your well formed tan lines...
3) RAIN- is sometimes an enjoyable thing... not so much when repair bills comes your way
4) COMMUNITY - as mentioned, cycling is a sport enjoyable whether done in a group or by one person alone...
5) SAFETY - nothing is ever safe... it's possible to get ran over by a car when trying to pick up a basketball that rolled out onto the road or get hit by a stray golf ball on a golf course... if safety is of the biggest concern.. we'd all have enrolled in Gym memberships or stayed at home rather than out riding our 2-wheelers...
if i am yet to be considered a sociopath... you find the enjoyment and appreciation the sport itself from enduring it... such is true like how you enjoy the view from a high mountain top after you spend hours clambering on your bike to get to the top of it... or the sound of nature after riding 100's of kilometers away from society and the safety of your home on a breezy sunday morning...
like i said...nothing ever goes perfectly in life... you just make the best out of it...
that or you'd go apply for a gym membership with your buddies instead of buying an iron horse...

The reason in few post above is the reason why i took up cycling while in Aus. Some of the driver there are idiots but then still better than in KL. There a dedicated bike lane and certain palce where there signboard remind driver to take note of cyclist.

look at it from a different perspective.. if you were a driver who does not know cycling... what is your feelings when you see a rider on the side or in the middle of the road or lane?
what a driver perceives as sensible speed in a car might be dangerously fast or too close for a slow moving cyclist...
then what about the joggers or runners.. they might think cyclist are a danger to them as well running on the road... they are afraid a bike might clobber them from behind since we ride too fast which is in fact not from our perspective from being on the bike...
most importantly is to be safe yourself... everything else is up to chance by nature...
