hmm it's 5.000km from yesterday's ride not 5000km .. my bike odometer only around  160~170km max... less than what lotsa ppl did in one day...
That's what I am going to do.. Learn how self repair and get a spare tube

That day after taking out my tire and reinstalling, i realised that I accidently adjusted the brake too near to the tire.. there's  some melted rubber on the rims now.. aiks..

Do you guys deflate the tire a bit when you remove tour  tire? izzit normal that you have to force through a bit through your brake calipers
*
you are running 25c rite? that is normal as it is harder even with the calipers fully extended with the levers opened...

that's called a cycling computer...

you have trip distance / time and then odometer and total ride time from the start of the computer.

depending on how much you spend.. there would be other logs as well like if you own one with altimeter, you get trip and total climb...

as long as you are riding the bike... it logs the data off it...

Added on February 17, 2012, 3:30 pman interesting article from Nick Legan today...

and fortunately.. was talking about fat tyres...

you mean computers?.. no lar.. there is no computers that costs over RM2k nowadays...even the most expensive Garmin 800 still goes for less than RM1.5k..

except you want to talk about power meters... then those are totally from a different galaxy...

SRM costs around RM7 just for the head unit... the crankset and other small things is another RM5k or so...

with Garmin - Metrigear and Look coming up with their pedal based power systems... it should be cheaper to own one..

mine is rm80..sigma bc 1009..although my initial budget was rm250 and below..i find the cheapest one that can meet all my needs..so far i'm satisfied with my purchase. it wired nicely too around the cable smile.gif

juz finish changing rear tube on my bike..seems like the original one had a damaged valve..I can't pump the air in as the air keeps on flowing out. only that I have a slight problem getting the rear chain put in place back but now it's all good..i can safely say i can fix my rear tube on my own should it happen again on any long distance ride rclxms.gif thx to youtube.

anyway I found this video..and one word I can say..HEAVEN! thumbup.gif

you only have to copy the part after "watch?v="...in your case "A0x4LFG--vE"

actually the problem is that making a jump from wired to wireless is a waste of money.. you practically pay double the price for what is no additional functions... further more wireless need to buy batteries which normal wired just deals with 1 battery...

if you want to go wireless.. you have to start considering other functions like cadence, HRM and stuff like that.. if not, no point spending the money..

Just put the code after "watch?v=" and before "&feature=related]" inside the forum YOUTUBE tag.

Guys, need to ask something about road bike gears..

Let say the bike has a 34x50 crankset and 11-28 cassette, is the calculation below "correct"? Any easier way/short cuts to remember when to change gear, beside keep practicing... newbies...

50 11 4.55
50 12 4.17
50 13 3.85
50 14 3.57
50 15 3.33
50 17 2.94
50 19 2.63
34 14 2.43
34 15 2.27
34 17 2.00
34 19 1.79
34 21 1.62
34 24 1.42
34 28 1.21

p/s: it is a Sram Rival 09 black, 50 x 34 T matching to Shimano 105 CS-5700, 11-28 T...

those are gear inch calculations... there isn't a reason to look at that unless you want to check if there are any overlapping gear ratios... of your highest speed covered in the biggest gear or the lightest gear you might possibly have...

basically you shift gear by gut feeling... don't know how to explain this properly.. but you drive a car right? driven manual before?

when you drive a manual... no one tells you in particular to shift for example 2nd to 3rd gear once you reach 3,500rpm or 40kph... you shift because you get the feeling that it is time to shift up while you have factored in things like if there is a slope in front, would the engine have enough grunt to pull the car forward at a higher gear at this speeds..etc...

so, in cycling.. there is no fixed guide on how and when to shift... you just sort of find around until you find a gear that suits your speed and you can handle the pedal load...

SRAM has their own 28T cassette as well.. the last 4 ratios are slightly different to shimano ones.. 3 tooth jump instead of 2 tooth jump all the way for shimano till the last a 4 tooth increment...

PG1070 should also be lighter than a 5700 cassette...
