if the new one is 650 and the old one is 600.. SGD 50 difference, why consider the old one?
all the bikes at that price range is spec'ed with alivio / acera mixture.. but the juicy and dart 2 is a nice touch for a RM1.3 or RM1.4k bike... i think you only get cable pull disc at that price...

bike envy is a never ending thing as long as your are not blind or have "good friends" around you...
yes, Merida is a big bike manufacturer like Giant and produces some of specialized bikes inventory... i think it should be most of the low to mid end production runs... in recent years, it was reported they bought into sinyard's shares as the company wanted to expand with injection of extra external funds...rumour was that it was not only 19% of the company stocks but actually more that was un-reported in more recent years...
the scultura SL handlebar? looks like a compact carbon FSA k-force..
you have basically 2 type of drop shapes... anatomic and ergonomic (round)... anatomic has 2 angular bends with straighter runs to achieve the drop shape while ergo is more rounded in curving down..
from round handlebars, there is also the compact bar that sprung up in recent years... less extension forward and curves down almost immediately...
pictures speaks a thousand words...
although there 3 major types nowadays, there are still countless drop shapes, with some extending further, some shallower, some offering a straighter section at the bottom most... and then you have wing type aero tops, cinelli made some that sweeps back towards the rider.... very confusing... but highly self preferential..
here is some explanation on compact bars by competitive cyclist...

actually... i am not too sure who the guy is... seems to be a guy by the name of juan jose fernandez who took a 3rd place in the para cycling pursuits it seems.. really an amazing image of self resilience... can't imagine riding a bike at all let alone ride it competitively..
wonder if they give handicap if the opponent has 1 limb more than him???
Cav isn't really into the season yet... so it is natural for all other contenders to win as much as they can before Cav kicks into high gear in time for the tour...
good luck washing your wounds tomorrow... i heard zinc and vitamin A and C is vital for wound healing... keep a healthy intake of those during recovery period...

Bro butthead,
Yeap. mainly because of the juicy brakes and rockshox dart2. but are this worth and value for money?
since you say the new model is 650.. definitely very worth it for the new one.. but old one not so...
reason is that conversion to RM... you can't get those spec here in KL...
but definitely not a 2nd hand one since it is only SGD 50 cheaper... you sure you didn't see wrong that a new "new" model costs only SGD650?

i am.
3 days of suffering with a bunch of sweaty guys... not enough motivation for me to spend my moolah...
if there are plenty of pretty chicks riding in bikini for those 3 days... i'd go even if it's double the price...

Now I is dilemma. To 29er or not
29er... if you are not the itchy to change things type... and you ride XC a lot...
i figure it will take another year before the full 29er fad starts picking up... that being said, you still have to hope that 29er parts like wheels and forks are in if you are the itchy type... variety is a problem currently with the 29er...

What became a sudden fashion in the 2010 tour... the oversized berner pulley systems... utilizing a 13T upper guide pulley and 15T lower... reportedly the chain goes through larger diameter hence does not sap as much power.... nuts if you look at the price...
wanted to, but not enough money to go there on april.really sad about it.

Added on February 16, 2012, 5:40 am where to get the rox eh?Bored with my Edge 800 already. Not friendly under sunlight. :/
Rox you can try to ask KH Cycle to bring it in from their SGP branch... i doubt they have the 8.1 and 9.1 yet...they don't keep stock since they think no one in KL appreciates it...
i paid full price for them to order it in last time... i have a ROX 8.0 which is under RM650... i believe they still have 1 unit of 8.0 last i saw it...maybe you can pressure them to sell it at lower price since 8.1 came out and if you don't need the ghost race and power measurement on the x.1 series...
9 series is a better purchase because i heard it comes with docking station and data centre software if you like to analyze your rides.. i heard it was close to RM800 or it might be more.. and if you purchase the dock separately... it is in the region of RM100 plus i think... furthermore.. 9.0 has more waypoints and logging memory than 8.0
i chose 8.0 because i was el-cheapo about it... might come to regret it later...i like the rox series for 2 reasons..
1) has the functions i want, elevation, climb rates, HRM, cadence, and user configurable displays 2) i don't need GPS functions, hence the unit will run longer on battery than a Garmin
i initially wanted an Edge 500 because i like the data display method... but then.. i found out that it runs out of battery like crazy and i have to charge it every 2 or 3 rides (i am not a person with very good memory, tend to forget daily stuff all the time)... and further reports that the cadence sensor can't last real long if you ride in rain or you power wash your bike with the sensor on the bike...
hence my decision to stick back to sigma... i've owned 3 different models of sigma before i used the ROX.. before that was all cateye...

Thanks bro butthead.
Yeah its selling for 650 for latest 2012 model.
May i know how much are those rockshox and juice hydraulic brakes cost if let say i wanted to upgrade. average price.
juicy 3 (complete set) and dart 2 is going within the range of RM300 - RM500 i guess (don't know the actual price, since my mountain bike is nowadays used to go pasar only)... i have never really seen a new dart 2 being sold before.. mostly taken off new bikes and sold off...
