additional advice based on the videos posted by forummers:
1. as mentioned before, for those that are totally paranoid, keep your note7 that is not being used in a metal box to contain any fire/explosion. Or else, find out if you can return to the SC earlier

2. for those that are currently using the phone, my personal advice is not to charge the phone to max, maybe stop at 90%, the video noted that the worst case for the phone is overcharging which can cause dramatic effects even when comparing it to puncturing, bending or short circuiting, so best bet is to keep it undercharged slightly.

BATTERIES CAN FAIL WHEN THEY’RE CHARGED TOO MUCH OR TOO FAST

As I have noted before, ways to protect yourselves are:

1. Charge your phone to ONLY 90%
2. Trickle charge your phone (avoid fast charging, use 5V 0.5A-1A)

what i have done so far is, leave fast charging on, always unplugged when it 100% rightaway or not too long, the temp is way much lower, from my observation, when you charge the phone approx around 60% it will heat up to 40celcius, although is considered safe as other forumer, just my 2cents of safety precaution.

im heavy user. gaming (DOTi dual games with parallel space), 2 wasap, bla bla bla.
charging my phone in ofis with rock qc2.0 charger (only disconnect when im going out).
charging my phone every single night (overnight with aukey qc2.0) since day 1 until now.
wireless fast charging while watching iflix, etc etc.

but yet, my n7 is serving me perfectly. conclusion, i u got defective unit, nth much u can do. it will blows anyway. if u got perfect unit, just enjoy every bit of it.

same here, so far the phone resides at around 28c i dont think it will explode right away, there must be a rise on temperature till intolerable manner to ignore, then only will explode.

even that, samsung also didnt bother to give me a call, to surrender the phone nor on collecting the spare phone. so yeah.
*
You can walk in to their SC and ask for loaner phone and surrender your current N7 there. I did that and get a S6E+ as loaner. Wouldn't want to carry a time bomb around. Better be safe than sorry.

Personally I don't think fast charging is the culprit as it's already available long ago in Samsung devices.

Battery technology is the same. It's just manufacturing defects if we trust what they announced.

If one is too worried about the Note 7 exploding, just switched it off and don't use it. Wait for replacement to come in
My friend who bought over my unit isn't worried about it all. It is his daily work phone and he used it heavily daily. He had been a diehard Note user since the first Note. He is in the media-advert business. He simply cannot live without the SPen ! He had a spare ip6 as a spare phone if needed. He had nothing but only praises for the Note 7 which he said is a vast improvement over his ex Note 5. He has yet to experienced any sudden reboot, freeze/hung issues as reported by some users here
*
Agreed with you. My N7 so far no problem and I'm charging in the car when ever I'm in the car.
I never even had sudden reboot, freeze/hung issues as reported by some users here. Hopefully this will continue until 29th biggrin.gif

It isn't the main culprit but based on the articles, the separators for the anode and cathode might be slightly thinner due to manufacturing defects.

QUOTE(theverge.com)
Charging too much or too fast can lead to a problem called “plating.” Think of the battery like two egg crates. Lithium ions need to shuttle between the spaces in the two egg plates to be safely deposited inside, says Steingart. If you charge the battery slowly, the lithium has time to find its spot in the egg crate as it goes back and forth. But go too quickly or have too much, and lithium will just deposit itself on the outside of the egg crate and then onto itself. Then, each time you recharge, the lithium builds on itself and forms needle-like structures called dendrites that can internally short out the battery.

Just received call from Samsung Malaysia regarding the exchange. Those who have purchased smart care warranty will be refunded through 3 available methods, either cash, bank transfer or cheque. He / she will record down the method that chosen by you and you may get back your refund at Samsung Service Centre where you purchased your smart care warranty from. Hope this helps.

Nope. What am I trying to say is that you shall get back your RM248 that paid earlier. Just bring the certs to the service centre where you purchased your smart care warranty previously to get back your refund.

Why should we refund? Cause the new replacement we need to buy another one?

I mean I bought cause I need it. Then they say we do replacement note 7 they will provide free extended warranty and screen crack warranty as compensation for trouble cause. This problem come for ppl like us whom already bought the rm248 warranty.
Careline say management will find something else to compensate us since we bought the warranty. Thus I didn't refund as I memang want the warranty there.
