Guys, if a samsung phone broke down, sending to samsung center to repair is the best option or random handphone shop will do?

Depends what kind of a samsung phone you are talking about. If dealing with water resistant phones best to go to Samsung center I guess?

That depends on whether if your phone is still with warranty.

Sending to the SC would mean that you will be getting Original parts and expecting professional repair at a higher cost. But due to their KPI in diagnostic, if certain components is found to be faulty they will replace the whole section. Usually cost a bomb if no warranty.

outside shop might not have such practice. LCD crack, replace LCD, no need to replace backlid.

you are assuming it is only the battery problem. as its the first time they are using USB-C type connected, THAT might've been the problem itselves and also the motherboard too as those things are all connected together.

QUOTE(stevenryl86 @ Sep 7 2016, 03:11 PM)
nope, if the defect comes from the chip you can't replace it even with removable battery.

Samsung is committed to producing the highest quality products and we take every incident report from our valued customers very seriously. In response to recently reported cases of the new Galaxy Note7, we conducted a thorough investigation and found a battery cell issue.

To date (as of September 1) there have been 35 cases that have been reported globally and we are currently conducting a thorough inspection with our suppliers to identify possible affected batteries in the market. However, because our customers’ safety is an absolute priority at Samsung, we have stopped sales of the Galaxy Note7.

She's having second thoughts about buying another newly released device, especially after losing all her personal data stored in the destroyed Note 7, she said.

'If the exploded phone had burned near my head, I would not have been able to write this post,' she said in a popular online forum Thursday, where she shared a photo of the scorched Note 7 and described dousing the flames.

Samsung found that a battery cell made by one of its two battery suppliers caused the phone to catch fire.

Koh Dong-jin, president of Samsung's mobile business refused to name the supplier.

Call Maxis Hotline number - 123.  Maxis agent mention that those who received pre-order from Maxis will be getting call from Maxis starting from 8th Sept onwards.  According to the agent, they will ask how do we want to do replacement if I am not mistaken. Just give a call to them for further clarification.

Regarding to those whom bought the warranty extension and screen warranty, i just called up Samsung's CS and they weren't informed of Samsung's action. However, the CS gave me 2 possibilities, which is either full refund or compensation gifts. hmm.gif

Anybody have any info regarding phone bought from Maxis?
*
This is what the Live Chat responded.. at least their CS team already aware.. rclxms.gif

======================================================

Me:
Hi, want to check regarding the Galaxy Note 7 issue and the recall / REPLACEMENT announcement by Samsung Malaysia. FYI, I bought the Note 7 via maxis zerolution during the early PO in mid Aug 2016. Not sure whether your Customer Service team have been briefed on this?

Samsung Malaysia made an official statement on the Note 7 to REPLACEMENT and require us, from 29 Sept 2016 onwards to collect our new phones at the original place of collection during the last Pre-Order event. “customers may return their existing Galaxy Note7 and collect their new Galaxy Note7 at the place of purchase (original place of collection)” .

So I would like to confirm whether Maxis is aware of this, and whether I can come down to Maxis Pavillion (my previous collection point on 18AUG16) to get the replacement?

Maxis:
Yes we are

Maxis:
And please walk in to the respective Maxis Retail outlet to retun the original Samsung Galaxy Note 7 together with the complete inbox content

Maxis:
Customers can start return the original Samsung Galaxy Note 7 together with the complete inbox content strating from 9 Sept 2016 until 23 Sept if they feel unsafe holding the device.

Me:
Great! good to hear

Maxis:
Customers will be contacted by Maxis starting from 8 Sept on the replacement process

Should be like that IMO.. courts is the only odd one out.. so we can safely assumed they are ill informed and cause havoc during the replacement.. but now is only 7th.. still got 20+ days for them to clarify.. icon_rolleyes.gif

For Courts, it would be better to bring everything upon replacement, else if they suddenly change, then u gotta go home and go back to the shop again
