Nowadays more are going for higher rates.
PIDM becomes secondary, as 250k cover just cannot cover enough.
MBSB used to pay monthly last time, now it is paying me 6 monthly.
cannot wait till maturity only take interest, manyak rugi lo.
can see yygo is right behind bgoat's back every where..

but i believe your sifu wont mind MBSB also if 4.7% is still available.

Actually I don't quite understand why interest paid monthly or 6 months matter. Is it because compound interest or what?

For bbgoat use only. My plan is 9month FD with RHB since 12month FD is no longer available.

after reading this , not so attractive ...4.1% for 12 months ..... why not just go straight forward for conventional 4.1% from the banks that offered ....

unless end of 12 months, the return could hit 4.5% and above then it will be different story... any thought on this ...

thanks...

If I can recall, there is no promo for 12 mths FD @ 4.10% now besides Maybank

If credited by monthly, you will get interest on the same date as your placement in next month. You can invest the interest into FD/blabla again, which will bring you higher rate for effective interest.

Hi guys, want to ask a noob question, what is the difference between maybank investment account and fixed deposit account?

I have tried the fixed deposit account and so far so good, I'm planning to get an investment account from maybank too, but can anyone tell me what is the risk involve when applying a bank investment account?

Anyone of you having trouble doing the HLB 4% online FD placement?

I tried but it gave this message:

You are not able to proceed with this transaction due to any of the following:

1. You currently do not have any Current / Savings account
- Visit www.hlb.com.my or any of our branches to find out more on our product offerings

2. Your Current / Savings account has been dormant
- Please visit any of our branches to reactivate your Current / Savings account.

3. Your Current / Savings account is not allowed for Online Viewing/Pay & Transact
- You may change your account settings here
Checked all 3 reasons doesnt apply to me and i have been using my account regularly and online.

Main difference is the earlier is not protected by PIDM whereas the later is protected

How likely do you think that I might not get back my money if I apply through Maybank gia investment?

It is not so serious that you cannot get back your money (capital/principal).
Investment involves risks, you may ending up with no interest or lose part of your capital/principal if major recession hit.
That's why it states "capital and interest not guaranteed"

Haha don't simply say. Nothing is guaranteed. Principal can indeed be lost, if the bank really no more money there's no more money. Do you think your FD and savings account is first in line when bank need to settle with debtors? Small fry will normally suffer the most.

Same can be said about PIDM though. It's a nice gesture but if the sort of major recession hits which kills Maybank off (biggest in MY after all) PIDM won't be able to support all the claims.

In fact PIDM is nice but not foolproof. Any situation which kills Maybank will kill PIDM at the same time, so is it really a big difference?

Not sure how my statement would scare people from placing non PIDM FD. Scare them into buying gold, maybe la =p
