QUOTE(cklimm @ Aug 21 2016, 06:57 PM) The real winners were those placed the MBSB exclusive 5 before it discontinued, 4.7% for 5 years, even better than most corporate bonds The best I got is the AmBank 2 yrs 4.6%, Oct/Nov 2015. Never have luck with MBSB's 4.7%. QUOTE(guy3288 @ Aug 21 2016, 07:33 PM) |

QUOTE(guy3288 @ Aug 22 2016, 10:17 PM) you also missed out the 4.7% from BR? The longest I have with BR is 2 years 4.55% starting March 2016. Did not go for the 5 years one. BR 5 yrs board rate is now 4.3%. mbsb ones 6 monthly interest. BR ones better, monthly interest. With MBSB just the 18 mth one of 4.5%. Probably need to allocate some 5 yrs eggs. |

QUOTE(guy3288 @ Aug 24 2016, 10:25 PM) current 5 yr rate too low , not worth to be tied down. that MBSB 4.5% for 18 m must be sometime ago..sure no more now. Ya, the MBSB one was in Aug 2015. My first ever placement with MBSB. Now looking back, should have placed for their 5 yrs one. Anyway, history !This post has been edited by bbgoat: Aug 24 2016, 10:32 PM |

QUOTE(wil-i-am @ Aug 25 2016, 09:26 AM) Dun regret No regret. May see how things goes before deciding on 5 yrs. Have one 5 yrs FD with AmBank of 4.55% before they offered 2 yrs 4.6%, but small amt.Perhaps u may consider to lock-in 5 years now in anticipation of lower interest rate next year Anyway, I think good to spread out FD to 5 yrs, 3, 2 and 1 yrs tenure. |

QUOTE(aromachong @ Aug 26 2016, 07:53 AM) Agreed. Not all banks can nego. BR can try on 50k onwards but 100k has better chance. Since they do not have promo now, they may require higher amt for nego rate. They do not have fixed amt for nego, change with times. |

QUOTE(wil-i-am @ Aug 27 2016, 07:38 AM) PIDM just give us mental comfort Ignore the noise when make decision Btw, their 12 mths FD is not attractive presently QUOTE(nexona88 @ Aug 27 2016, 09:31 AM) Even with pidm, it actually won't "cover" because the fund they have is really insufficient to cover all banks account... Ya, I have ignored on PIDM. Except trying not to put too much eggs in one basket. |
