Hey all. I'm pretty sure this question has been asked and answered before, but please help me out here again - how many of you run tracks (in stadiums) to increase your pace? And where/what time do you normally do? I usually run road and I think I need to do a bit of speed training so I plan to run tracks now.

What do you normally wear for headgear when you train during the day when the sun is up? Caps/Visors/just a headband?

I'm increasing my mileage for long distance events and I found training in the sun is alot more strenuous and had to slow down the pace quite abit. Would a cap just increase the body temp in our humid climate?
*
For long distance use, cap or visor is recommended. Get the one with dri-fit and light material.

If you're asking for a program, its better to google and there are lots of resources out there.

Stadium track is better for short intervals since you don't have to look out for traffic and may have to slow down for cars and deal with inclines/declines. But stadiums may also be clogged up by ignorant walkers using the inner lanes which are supposed to be for runners

You can still mix in speed work with fartlek and plan your runs using hills or inclines for your faster pace intervals and recovery period using declines which is what I do.

When practising for FM, which of the following is recommended given the same weekly mileage (example 48km)

1) 3 days of running with each 16km, OR
2) 2 shorter run days (8km each), 1 mid distance (12km) and 1 day long run (20km)

The 1 day long run would be preferred especially for newer and non-competitive recreational runners since you get to concentrate your energy better and are more likely to recover better before the next long run.

Speaking for myself as a novice runner, I cannot recover in time for a long run if I run 8-10k 3x a week around my long run.

Hi all runners/joggers. I'm new in LYN. I have an inquiry regarding jogging and I hope someone can provide me with some answers.

I am an active jogger. I jog 2 to 3 times a week. I jog as early as 7:00 AM. I jog for a distance from 8 to 15 km per session.

Can I know what are the proper foods to consume before going out for a jog ? Normally, I had cereal biscuits or dates with a cup of water.

Dates are good , but if you can wholemeal bread with spreads will be much more filling .
