How much gain achieved when running in those RM300++ shoes (above mentioned) compared to those ~RM60?

QUOTE(kinowerty @ Nov 20 2017, 09:14 PM) If you are doing more run. The 60 shoes will give you a lot of trouble later on. hmm.. average running ~21km per week, trouble mentioned here is referring to injuries related to leg?You want to focus enjoying your run not trouble yourself with footwear. For recreational run, its fine |

QUOTE(kinowerty @ Nov 20 2017, 10:26 PM) Mainly injuries. Yes, consistently, I have a tight budget, any recommended shoes for runner like me. Estimated the shoe can last for.But there is other thing that will bother you like the shoe get hot (not enough ventilation), blister, not enough grip in several surface (low quality outsole), not enough cushions etc etc. Like i said it keep bothering you. Soon you will be thinking to get a better one. It's already a waste of money. All this will lead to injuries if you run a lot or run hard actually. I take it as consistent 21km every week. You better invest in properly designed shoes for running. 21km/week is enough to get you injuries unless you are experienced runner which mean you already have an efficient stride. |

QUOTE(chester_85 @ Dec 4 2017, 04:59 PM) Not sure about the required weekly mileage for training. interesting, how you trainI've done more than 10 FMs but my weekly mileage was never more than 40KM except for the race week. Rarely touched 30KM too. My PB was 4:18 and i was still holding back a little bit at that time. |

QUOTE(lybdh @ Jan 16 2018, 08:43 PM) Ya..i used fixed interval of 4min run/1min walk in my last HM. I start the interval from race start till 15km..then i try my best to run non stop till finish line..besides that i walk all uphill.. FYR. Galloway have recommended intervals according to your pace..check his videos.. . Currently i using 2m run/1m walk for FM training..hope can finish in 7hrs to meet COT.. . Good luck this weekend..pls share ur experience as i oso learning.. |

QUOTE(lybdh @ Jan 18 2018, 12:47 PM) thx for sharing.. 30sec just a reference value, you may adjust to which you are comfortable with, looks like i still need to work on the run/walk ratio.. i feel 30 sec is too short for me..barely catch my breath back in 30 sec. also need to practice mid run fueling..those gel wont work for me..need a burger or nasi lemak.. |

QUOTE(ChipZ @ Jan 19 2018, 02:13 PM) ran last year40% route without proper lighting, some routes which covered by main roads not putting cones, run at your own risks several water stations are not ready (not fast enough to refill the water) due to lack of volunteers no bottle water provided at the finishing line, only water filled with paper cup |

advice needed; never run FM previously, mistakenly join two FM runs within 2 weeks, does one week or less for rest/recover before next run is sufficient?

QUOTE(Kidicarus @ Jan 2 2020, 10:40 AM) Happy New Year runners! happy new year,Did a 30 minute time trial yesterday. Set a new PB on 5k which increased my vdot from 32 to 34. Average HR for last 20 minutes was 165 which is now my LTHR to be used for setting zones. Will train based on those numbers for the next month or so and then retest. Last month my mileage was roughly 30km a week. New years resolution will be to slowly increase mileage up to 45km - and then follow a half Marathon training plan. Short term goals will be to improve my 5k times to increase my Vdot values and ramp up the intensity and break 1 hour on the 10k eventually. is that your new year resolution? what's your 5k & 10k timing? which HM training plan you planned to follow? |
