Frequently Ask Question [READ ME]

Updated 2016 FEB

1 - I am a non-bumiputera. And I am totally new to this. Which fund should I go?

You miss the so called golden chance which is happening on 2015 JUNE - OCTOBER, regarding our top picked FIXED PRICED FUNDS. Those were the time where people top up and the success rate is almost 100% (any amount), as well as opening up a new account. However, for now, the chances is still there, but try little bit more harder and the units will be lesser and lesser in coming weeks or months. Well, its also depend on various factor such as world markets, commodities prices and some "national issues". For those who having any account on Fixed Price Funds, you can keep trying to top up with no guarantee you able to get additional units. Next, for those who having higher risk appetite, Variable Price Funds, ASG, and ASN3. Currently only have this two option for you. Now in laymen term, the prices are low, if you have a brave heart, can try it. ASG Pesaraan. Once ROI around 15% but when the chance or interpreted the market wrongly end up ROI will be around 3.5% or negative value VP funds can be fun if the timing is correct. But there will be some platform give better experiences such as FSM, but I myself haven't try it. But people say its good.

2 - I am a bumiputera. And I am totally new to this. Which fund should I go?

Follow this order, you will never go wrong. ASB - ASB 2 - ASW2020 - ASM - ASD - AS1M.

3 - Any online transection allow?

Yes, one of them is m2u and CIMB Clicks. But currently CIMB having some problems as you cant merge account due to system upgrades by ASNB. M2U for non bumiputera is AS1M, but each and every transection need processing fees of MYR 1.06.

4 - EPF?

Yes. But details need an expert to explain it.

5 - Where can I buy the unit?

Agents. Pos MY, MBB, RHB, CIMB. And ASNB office as well. Newly added will be Affin Banks, BSN, Alliance Banks. But the service provided will be varies.

6 - Best time to buy?

No specific time but, most people do say that. Before any big festive sessions, school reopen and any occasion that need money. However, you don't know when people do need those money.

7. Places to try opening new Fixed Price Fund for the Non-Bumipuitera.

Maybank
KLIA2, Bdr Bkt Tinggi 1, Klang Town, D'sara Uptown, KL Sentral, Cyberjaya, Cheng & Graha Peladang (Melaka),
Rampai Biz Park, Karak, KLCC, Desa Jaya (Kepong), Taman Pelangi (JB), Kompleks Bandar (OUG), Mid Valley Mall, Kuchai Lama

ASNB
KL HQ, Melaka, Bayan Lepas, Kuching, Seberang Jaya

PosMalaysia
HQ KL, Shah Alam, Triang, Klang Utara (near Mydin)

CIMB
Bangi, Jalan Parry Miri, Taman Putra Ampang, D'sara Uptown

RHB
Padungan, KLCC, Simpang 3 Kuching, Jalan Stesen Klang, Bandar Utama

Affin Bank
Cyberjaya

Places above are based on user experiences. And they managed to open the precious account on the mentioned location.

8. How much can I top up per day?(CASH)

50000 MYR per day for all types of products. Meaning, the limit will impose on an account number. (I guess this is the reason they upgrading their system.)

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Flash Facts

- If there is no units available, you will never ever able to purchase new units or opening up a new account.

- To open up an account, you need 100 MYR.

- To top up, minimum value shall at 1.00 MYR.

- When opening up an account, can choose any of the three FP, they actually act the same just subject to availability.

- To top up any amount also acceptable, but just above 1.00 MYR.

- Regarding the date to top up, its up to you. I don't wish to explain this further.

- Funds can be top up via CIMB and MBB, online. However, for non bumi, the only available for online purchase will be AS1M. There will no specific limit, but still subject to availability.

- For non bumi, try opening up FP first.

Please do take note, this is heavily dependent on the KLCI performance. And the total return do affects its performance too. Do not confused by the "dividend" paid.

Calculation upon Variable Price Fund using ASG as an example.

Of course you CAN'T invest fully in 1 method only. FD is the best among all when it come to risk. Thus, don't put all eggs in 1 basket. Diversify it.
And see things do happen like now. Crude oil, flood, all affecting nation as well as MY will affecting the BURSA and thus ASG.
Hope I help in this post. Feel free to ask me. My answer may be incorrect but I can tell you some info that banker reluctant to tell you. And, FP > VP, anytime.

New fund usually decided by top gun like PM right?
Just like Mahathir decided on ASW and Mr Jib decided on AS1M and ASB2.
Don't think the CEO can just simply decide a new fund.

Btw, can update the limit on how much can withdraw on the first post.
Like RHB no limit, etc. etc.
People ask this every time.

The launching of new FP ASx is driven by political agenda
I foresee they may launch 1 in anticipation of GE14

What are the reasons for account holders to withdraw, considering the FD rate is not that attractive in comparison?

Well there's various factors..

It's for sustain cost of living, lack of confidence in pnb, use for d/payment for house or cars, children education etc.

Well that is bad news as normal people like me will need to try luck and topup. Some more since it's not going to be in units, chances of topping up have decrease (people won't withdraw after dividend date since there's nothing to withdraw)

If you put A amount of money from 1st to last day of a month,
it will be entitled for = 1/12 x (A) x DividendRate

Yes it does. Eg. You have rm10k. You withdraw rm5k. So your dividend will be
No. Of months/12 x rm5k x dividend rate.

Remember, dividend is based on lowest amount of the month.

For clarity, do you need to account for the RM10k for the period prior to withdrawal date?

As long as the rm10k was deposited before or on the 1st of every month, you will get the divudend. However if you deposit rm10k on 2nd of the month and onwaeds, you won't get dividend for that rm10k for that current month. You will only get the dividend for that rm10k next month.

If it's true in a way yes. Cause dividend paid out in cheque or straight into SA, so people won't withdraw the principal.
At present, dividend is given in unit. So upon dividend date, lots of people go to bank/asnb and withdraw all/some of the dividend hence freeing up some units on the market letting some of us to topup.

But we will see when we get there. biggrin.gif

After 5 minutes she try still got. She was withdrawing my ASG to pay for the AS1M unit which took up like 5 minutes. Furthermore, I was standing at the counter for 30 minutes+. laugh.gif

No. You already lose 5% when you buy. Dividend not important in ASG. Just hope NAV price increase to see if you can get back your principal.

As1m got a lot during lunch time, I suspect got >rm10k cause I sapu rm9k then the clerk don't want to do anymore cause want to go for lunch. How I know got more than rm10k? Simple. After 5 minutes she try still got. She was withdrawing my ASG to pay for the AS1M unit which took up like 5 minutes. Furthermore, I was standing at the counter for 30 minutes+. laugh.gif

Decided rm9k haul cukup for the day.
ASW2020 only RM500. sad.gif

One customer after me complain why so slow? blush.gif

If u have 200k then passive income is rm12k p.a or rm1k monthly.

Unless you have 400k in asx to generate passive income of rm2k monthly.

Put all in one basket? I think I have enough. Move to other investment instrument.

- I think impairment losses also accelerated as per page 22
- Amounts owing by PNB and stock brokers...about 9 million compared with zero
- redemption of units RM34 mil compared with just 230 k , ppl taking up the units also less
- less cash at bank looking at the cash flow statement..

Am I missing anything...(haven't analysed what new investments they've gone in for this period )

well I don't actually monitor ASN3 deeply, so I don't know what they sold & what investment the fund added.

but just went thru the report like that. seems the fund is suffering.. income reduce, but expenses went up..

also I see a lot of investment are at paper loss. current market price is lower than cost price bangwall.gif

I guess this upcoming ex-dividend, a lot more people will withdraw the fund...

EPF only allows withdrawal from account 1 to UTMC's once every 3 months, that's the main limitation. Other than that would be the amount that you must have (minimum savings) in account 1 according to your age.

I've posted before that ASW still has about 6 figures allocated for EPF scheme but I'm not sure how much is left now. Again, there's no harm in trying. There's no cost involved even in the even the transaction fails.

Can buy anytime but subject to unit availability and whether worker at the bank want to try for you or not. tongue.gif laugh.gif rclxs0.gif Of course if you are priority customer, you can just leave the book there. whistling.gif whistling.gif Not recommended if you have don't have time to camp at the bank.

well EPF dividend could fluctuate drastically over the the years while ASx seems constant..

EPF did pay 4%+ dividend previously, while ASx I don't see 4% or even 5% over the years.. mostly 6% thumbsup.gif

The past 5 n 10 yrs dividend from EPF is 6.33% n 5.86%
If the award is for 10 yrs, it will goes to ASx (at least 6% n above since inception)

QUOTE(ihowin @ Aug 6 2016, 03:18 AM)
hi guys, need all your opinion. so recently, I wanted to open an ASM account but it was not available so they suggested me to open an ASG account and I did. After doing little bit of research, it seems that ASG has quite some few negativity but that was like around 5 years or 4 years ago. I open with a minimum of RM500 last time and wonder if I should top up another RM2500? Also how is ASG different from ASM?

(it would be a long term investment for me, I know there's a pin post about it on this forum but I still dont quite understand)

Much thanks if someone is able to give suggestion and explanation about it.
*
Big mistake on your part. Why?
1) You lose 5%+ on the spot (ASG have service charge while ASM have none)
2) ASG follow KLCI so the returns be < 6.x% (ASM). I got returns of 1.x% before. That's why I decide to convert to fixed price ASX. (cut loss after holding ~3 years)
3) There are better funds available on FSM with only 2% SC compare to ASG 5% SC.
4) ASG NAV flacuates not like ASM. So you CAN LOSE money. ASM NAV is fixed at RM1/unit. How to lose money?

Forget about topping up ASG. Go try luck opening the other 3 fixed price funds. ASW2020, ASM, AS1M. There are places with higher chance to open listed on first page.

If I am not mistaken, the bank gets comission for ASG. You should have walk away. Bow that RM500 is stuck inside there for at least 3 years to break even (to get back your principal)

Hope this answer your question

*
Ahh alright thanks man for the info!! Seems now I would need to try my luck to open the fixed price funds, is there any online website or anything to check for availability or something? As far as I know, usually this thing, it would be way beneficial if you know anyone from inside to help open an account.

I give good suggestion.

don't top up anymore. instead close the ASG account & invest in ASW2020.. upcoming dividend is near. 1st Sept is the date. I donno how u gonna do it, u needed take some time off that day. take MC , AL or any other excuses..

best is to try at PNB office.
*
Thanks!! Gonna get the funds ready and stanby outside their office before open hahahaha. Usually is hard to open fixed price account though. May I know where to check for next upcoming dividend or availability of the account?

No online website. Only ASNB branches can see for you availability of units. You don't need someone inside to open. I am a perfect example. Nobody inside, no priority relationship to leave book at counter. But I am a student. So not counted as lots of free time. tongue.gif
Btw, I opened mine at banks.not ASNB branch.

Accompanied a friend to do her ASB and ASM topup at PNB office. Enquire with the staff and they're very keen on pushing the new ASx products and said non-bumi shares in ASM/ASW difficult to get.

Anyone fortunate enough in recent months to successfully open an account?

You don't need to wait until then. Topup whenever you are free to visit the bank. You can also topup ASM and AS1M if ASW2020 doesn't have.

Thanks for the replies. Indeed, the variable price fund. Will try again the next time I go then (ASW September!).

Kinda disconcerting to see my friend getting as much ASM as she wants. But I'm offered the option of piggybacking on her ASB (:

ASB is fixed price. Give better returns than ASW2020, ASM, AS1M.
If your friend can get ASM, next time you go just bring cash along to topup ASM too. Don't need to wait for ASW2020.

Yes. Our big boss ia one of them. ~Rm20k/transaction. Total 6 figure. But that was because
1) megasales
2) leave book at counter.

Even without megasales, one can easily get 5 figure IF one can leave book at the counter. For those don't have the privilege to leave book at the counter, be like auntie twinkle. Camp at the bank everyday. She managed 6 figure in 1 month.

For the condition now, RM100k/day might be hard. But 5 figure/day should be doable.

Just curious - is the quota specific race based or just simply bumi/non-Bumi? Any sources to see the actual allocation percentage ? 🤔

Yes, it's open to all without any limitations..

Sure asnb have the data, but we cannot access it.. Only thing is the total units holders & unit each having..

How much each race hold is sensitive info..

But just small matter la...

Last time I also say want buy in without passbook which is can provided I can show my IC and thumb if they want to prove its me. I only don't want to bring the book which is troublesome for me. But rejected by the banker. I am new at that place. I tell the banker can. Can be done. He die die don't let me buy. Then I go away lol. After one hours which is after 4, he called me say sorry and yes. Can be done without passbook. Then I say, what's the time now. Market ad close la adik. But its ok. Next time.

After that I do without pass book for additional unit. I guess he phone HQ for enquiries. Lol. But better than some people who do not ask HQ at all.

Sometimes things take time. It's ok to miss the boat, but do not miss the sampan yo.

What about ASM? Didn't see any such allocation on page 1, so it is open for anyone without limitation ? I am sure they still have data on actual ownership of the units, right?
*
i didnt find any recent news, but i now there were some reserved units for the various groups, and their chief did want to free up the unused bumi and indian reserve units.

“I was made to understand that the 999 million new ASM units offered to the Chinese community had all been bought at exactly 12.17pm on April 22,” he said today at the Malaysia Unit Trust Week 2009 here.

The new ASM units which totalled 3.33 billion were offered for sale on Apr 21.

In contrast, Muhyiddin said that of the 499.5 million units reserved for the Indian community, only 111.43 million were sold as of 12pm on Friday while of the 1.665 billion units allotted to Bumiputera, only 13.93 million units had been taken up.
“I would therefore like to call on the Indian and Bumiputera communities not to let go of this good investment opportunity and grab the ASM units still available to them,” he said.

Maybe they will give more time for uncle and aunties because uncle and aunties will be more pushy and uncle and aunties are older so they dare not simply shoo them away too fast. If see some youngster, they will probably "tekan" 1 time and "takde unit". But some say can keep taking number and let them see your face again and again.

Do you normally stand at counter while they try?
My experience, always ask me to sit down and they do it. I think they attend other things while "tekan-tekan" once in a while.. Hmm..
Later they call my name and I will go to the counter. It will be the moment of truth, whether "Sorry, no unit today." or quickly pass the forms and ask you to sign. I think last time need to sign now maybe don't need already.

Are you sure Pos can topup during 4-5pm last time? I thought every agent is depend on PNB server which will close down at 4.00pm. Banks will normally ask you to go home if you say want to do ASX at 3.30pm..

The sky is the limit for ASW2020, ASM, AS1M. Get 6.x% p.a and your NAV is ALWAYS RM1/unit, don't want?

Only catch :
1) money added after 2nd of the month will not get dividend for that month
2) camp at bank to get the units unless you have PB.

Ya, better aim for fixed price fund;
From the way he speak, doesn't sound like there is unit reserved for EPF investment scheme;

Some interesting facts:  hmm.gif

So far no news.

My insider said the new chairman has been visiting each and every department and making time to see the staffs. There hasn't even been whispers never mind rumors of a new FP fund. My insider says biggest stumbling block is still SC so it would need a typically blatant disregard for laws/regulations such was the case for AS1M and ASB2 for a new FP to be launched.

Sorry ladies and gents but unless we get a new PM, likely-hood of a new FP fund from PNB/ASNB is pretty slim. In fact, my insider said SC is even contemplating disallowing re-investment of dividend as it seems they finally realized it's a loophole that PNB/ASNB has been exploiting since no new FP funds are allowed.

I guess that explains why PNB/ASNB lately has been advising their customers in dividend press statements to update their info at ASNB to prepare just in case SC does not provide approval for increase in fund size. As you know, paying dividends by cheque is not cheap and may get PNB/ASNB into trouble with BNM who's pushing for electronic payments.

I hope ASNB can maintain the re-investment of dividend as 'compounding' is relevant to beat inflation rate

Any guesses for the coming ASW2020 and AS1M dividends?

AA 5 - 5.5
BB 5.51 - 6
CC 6.01 - 6.5

My guess is BB for both. Why? Due to the declining local market.

Yes, SC approval is biggest headache..

As for the divvy thingy, I ready prepared to go all out this round.. A lot of us too.. Because I know they will pay in cash, not in new units reinvested next year or so..

Usually when we top up ASX, is it the teller does it on the spot? I encountered most of the time where I request to top up, my ic & passbook was withheld with them for more than 10 minutes, while the teller still attend to other customers. Then after 10-20 minutes of wait, only they said 'no units'. Is this the norm? Couldn't they check on the spot & tell whether is it available or not?

Depend on staff. Sometimes the staff will entertain me on the spot. Sometimes like you said take my book without my IC and ask me to wait. But most of the time, either way I will get the units.

So far I had not been successful in getting units at the counter except my first subscription for ASW. ASM & AS1M was purchased back in 2009.
I went to different branches & they always ask me 'duduk & tunggu'. Why they want to cheat me? I just asked for below rm1k..

well there's various reason why they want to "cheat" u..

among them is laziness of trying because in their mind already set "non-bumi quota sold out all the time".

once u managed to get, then u always will come again & again.. more work for them later..

at least u managed to reach counter level. some before take Q number already get rejected. Staff would say sold out, system offline, wait for new units for sales etc.

I really noticed they are fond in entertaining bumi. I was also refused to be given a number today when I approach the machine & when they find out I want to top up ASX, promote savings plan to me pula.. Then ask if I filled up my form, any passbook etc stupid questions then only gave me the number!!! They just want ppl to pump in money to their product, does seem to be sincere agents

CASA problem is easily remedied.

Eg.
QUOTE
Bank A refuse/didn't entertain you properly
Hop over to bank B. One can topup how much at bank B. Just open account at Bank B, transfer all the money one wants to put into ASX FP to bank B from bank A
After that just go visit B. No more going bank A.

Good idea. Perhaps I will try with small amount in cash 1st & see how is their service then only decide if opening a bank a/c is necessary

And convenience too. Like my case, Maybank has many branches & I can easily hoped into it whenever I pass by. Also I can uplift my eGIA for payment of the subscription Rather than keep in CASA which earns lower interest

As far as I know, one cannot withdraw eGIA from the counter. It needs to be done online. Happened to me before. Was going to withwdraw RM5k from eGIA to pay for ASW2020, they told me cannot.

You will have to do the following first:
eGIA > SA > pay for ASX FP.

Yes. I always uplift online while waiting myself to be served so funds are ready in my SA. If fail subscription, then I place the gia again, online not over the counter

One doesn't need to be loyal to banks. Never been and will never have. I just wished the staff terima kasih and sorry for your time, smile and leave the counter. I never depend on banks to topup. Me and few other regulars (at maybank/affin bukit tinggi) never leave our book there. We just camp at banks. There are 2 more regular auntie like me who take no and wait our turn. If tak dapat, take no and wait.

As long as 6% then happy enuf. Looking for some investment can achieve higher like 10% then will move some fund to thr.

I reckon it won't affect as ASX invest in stock. Unless economy continue to become bad.. I highly doubt bank will reduce muxh interest for loan. Remember banks are quick to decrease FD rates but slow to decrease loan rates /decrease little only.

Penny stocks = prices trading < 0.10
Opr change will affect the dividend. Having said tat, it depends on d % of allocation to FIF n MMF besides equity

Depends on how much you have and when you topup (topup after 1st of the month won't give you interest for that month)
Go update your book on 1/9

Btw for those want to reach target fast without trying multuple time, affin bank bukit tinggi is the place to try.

Say target is rm20k, they try for you one shot rm20k (I tak de rm20k to try one shot sad.gif ). Then if don't have, just sit there read some stuff (bring a book) while the staff try some more. No need to take no some more.
Managed to hit my target (the amount of cash I have not my personal target laugh.gif) each time I go affin bank. With maybank I have to try morning afternoon evening.

The con is bring cash unless you have account with them.

I never withdraw anything. The only thing I withdraw are my FDs and my ASG. laugh.gif laugh.gif What goes into those 3 ASX will be lock up nice and tight. Now that I found affin, it doesn't matter for me if ASNB pays in cash/cheque in the future cause my target will be reach (if the person didn't change laugh.gif )

If you meant the dividend, it will be printed into the books assuming that ASNB want to give out in terms of dividends. So just bring book and update it on 1/9 for ASW2020. Bring cash too if want to topup.

If you go for the strategy of say topup 20xRM250 versus one shot RM5k, expect to change book frequently. From what I learnt, with the not right person behind the counter, one will need to go the multiple of small amount way. With the right person, one shot hentam big amount boleh masuk. Just hang/sit around while the worker hentam the amount you wanted for you.

Announce ASW rate during these few days?

Do you think this time dividend day top-up will have less chance because many people from FD want to convert over because of FD rate down?

well those fund is currently sold out. ASNB staff don't want waste time..

and also their variable pricing funds still have a lot units available, so they try to divert people to those funds & make it fully subscribe smile.gif
