1. Below 60k
2. Age of car below 5 years
3. Don't mind small car
4. Use for going to work and back, fetch children nearby. max 30km daily.
5. Easy to maintain, I don't have familiar mechanic nearby, in Penang Island.
6. Must NOT be manual.

But look too clean. Check interior, boot for flood

2nd hand ativa. easy to get in and out, more airbags than bezza. not as bad as the bezza or axia, but it is still a thin car. but imo a great choice for pure city driving.

2020 vios & city i see there are units around 60k. i like this gen vios and city. great space and utility.

alzas and myvis will be under 60k as well. but tbh unless gunning for the pre-fl versions, perodua just go for new. unless you know the car history.

here's a more atas option that will hit that 80k. camry 2.0gx >2016. must be gx for updated safety. its quite alot older than 5 years but i think its still a good deal. but harder to maintain cuz direct injection engine.
*
My default choice is actually Ativa, but as usual my itchy self like to go for max spec and end up will reach 70k+ for the highest Ativa. Then come back to I feel its a bit like kosong / tinny, for the price (I might have too high expectations?)
Im not keen on D segment car, its too big for my usage and definitely not petrol friendly because my usage is very short distance 11km to office, MAXIMUM traffic jam to and fro.
I kinda like Yaris.

QUOTE(dogbert_chew @ Jul 24 2025, 03:44 PM)
Agreed with Frog, with 60-80K budget just get new.
Then dont have to worry about familiar mechanic as can send to official service centre under warranty first 5 years. Enough time to scout out reliable ones for after warranty period.

But P2 cars are eggshells. One major collisions by heavy vehicle its bye bye kudasai entire family enter heaven. Thats why it has lots of active safety systems to try prevent accidents but if lorry-kun fated to isekei you then its your time. 🤐

If this is a deal breaker, then test drive new Proton when it launch
2025 Q4 Saga new 1.5L engine est 50-60K
2026 Q2 S70 Exec with new 1.5T 4-cyl engine est 70-80K

Edit: new Ativa X is 63K, no need get used unless budget 40-50K
*
Is this 1 hit by a lorry and confirm gone even for Ativa?
I'd LOVE a S70 4cyl, everything feels right except for the mega shaking 3cyl.
Suppose I will wait for new Saga.
Thanks.

Yaris is 88-92K new 😳

Asean Yaris is approaching end of model life.
All A& B-segment Toyotas here will outsourced to Daihatsu manufacturing who will build new models based on DNGA platform eg Yaris Cross.

Whether Perodua will rebadge this model (hence sold at a big discount under P2) remains speculation past 2 years šŸ˜….
If it materialise, then you have a B-seg SUV for slightly above Ativa pricing.

Yes my kid has Ativa, love the 140Nm torque at low revs in city. But also eggshell.

My wife eyeing Yaris last time, back in 2019. So went to showroom look so-so. Cannot understand the price vs the interior all hard plastic, even Myvi kinda better Ringgit wise. So then rent Socar Yaris basic version for 3 hours on many occasions, we conclude nah not worth the money.

Bought x70 ckd instead

In my mind was thinking of Yaris 2nd hand but yes model is old. But I was also thinking new = bezza chassis dnga right? Haha.
IMHO will not touch 3 cyl used proton. Heck I’m already hesitant towards P1 reputation wise.

Yes, if u can find a good deal for used Yaris. Their RV is insanely high though.

New Bezza with DNGA chassis likely downgraded to WA-VE 1.2L 3-cyl engine šŸ¤• earliest 2027. Still eggshell just like current DNGA models Ativa, Alza, Axia but acceptable to majority of Malaysians.

Ya Toyota Yaris is pretty good value proposition. My daughter has a 2020 Yaris smiley model. I think she paid RM85K for the G spec.

Comparing with Myvi AV, the Yaris is miles ahead in NVH, and the suspension is well tuned ( not sampan). Power wise is so-so Toyota-ish. 1.5 liter engine with CVT. Power is a bit lacking, but good enough for KL or Penang city traffic snarls. Again, engine and CVT GB whining noise is well damped, typical of Toyota.

Asean variant Yaris end of life as Toyota parks all A& B segments under Daihatsu manufacturing in this region. Won't be surprised it will merge under Myvi brand in future.

New Bezza configuration all over the internet bro 😸 here's one sauce.. The only difference is the timing

Kesian those early adopter for Emzoom, especially if re-sale value is their primary concern. I went to see GS3 Emzoom, Love the exterior but the interior, I still remember how i mentioned the infotainment system a bit slow, the SA denied and wanted to show me the Apple Car Play but it lag and freeze. Then he told me it's because the car haven update the system yet dry.gif . But issue still not resolve when i read the car owner fb page. But performance wise solid.

Waiting for Tiggo Cross owner review.

Hey guys, I'm debating between new vs. recond MX-5 (Miata). My only criteria is it has to be manual.

Obviously new has 5 year warranty and service bundled in, but it's also stupid expensive at close to 300k from Bermaz. The recond ones max out at about 180k for a 2021/2022 model. So this difference of 120k is a lot.

My question is: is the MX-5 Miata generally easy to maintain (any workshop can do it) and the parts are easily sourceable such that the recond ones are attractive options compared to the new one from Bermaz? Thank you kindly.

1. Brand -
2. Budget - below 50k
3. New/Used/Unreg. - Used (Max 5-6year old)
4. Transmission. - Auto
5. Type. - SUV or cross over (No segment A)
City driving and occasionally long distance.

Am actually eyeing on Xtrail 2019/2020, any input on this such as reliability or maintenance concern etc

Japanese model, in this case Mazda engine, most outside workshop can handle it for u. Mx5 engine is basically the same 2.0 NA skyactiv engine as found in the Cx5, but differ in tuning for more sporty. Camshaft profile more aggressive, higher redline at 7500 rpm, and surely different exhaust system which all end up higher hp than standard found in cx5.

Based on family CX5 which just finished warranty recently, any outside workshop can do the normal maintenance without headache. I for sure will buy all parts online or shopee mall, for the ATF, Engine oil fully synthetic and others like spark plug etc before send to my regular workshop

Plenty of X50s on sale after owners trade in for new 4-cyl engine. If you OK with Proton after sales. Eg.

Currently me and my wife eye on W177 A250 used. Found around RM150. Mileage 60k 2019
(loan approve, but still not sign)

She really like the car. Since it come out.

I wonder if any other model that can consider. I do consider BYD Seal or Sealion new.

Currently use Subaru XV1

I'm open to any suggestion.
