I did see the cx-30 but I think the boot space is too small so I didn’t consider it. Now I’m considering the civic even with the risk of the steering rack issue. The SA said she can increase the rebate to RM14k for the V spec. Mazda only gave rm2k off. Are these the best rebates that can be given now?
*
U survey civic FE used (2022) unit better cz owner desperately letgo their cz hate the steering rack issue, hence price cheaper by a lot vs new + rebates

Many people complain that X50 did not have enough spares for parts breakdown during their warranty period.

How much spare parts do you think Sime Darby will stock up with profits made from selling 142 units of Creta?

But it seems that you have already decided this is a good deal. All I can say is good luck. 😇
*
The proton parts issues was so yesterday. Now ok already. If warranty claim, that normal 2-3 weeks for HQ approval - parts arrived at SC, this similar to HM.

QUOTE(TendouSouji @ Nov 18 2024, 07:59 AM)
So I test drove
1. Chery tiggo 7 pro
2. Mazda cx30
3. Jaecoo j7
4. Toyota corolla cross
5. Honda City
6. Honda HRV

Cx30 gave me the best driving experience, but the space is too small. Tiggo and jaecoo are decent, but I'm still skeptical about the brand and didn't fall in love with them during test drive. I drove cross during my trip in Japan. But the cross in Malaysia has a more old fashioned interior and didn't feel the same as the Japan model ( no dual zone aircond, fully digital meter etc etc ). HRV... Turbo engine is fun but worries about historical issues with HRV and probably more oil consuming.

So then I was thinking, why not save the extra 30k and try city instead, and I was quite happy with City RS model. I couldn't convince myself to spend an extra 30k for above models because they didn't really stand out for me.

And then I was almost certain to buy a Honda City RS.. but I found one thing that I couldn't give up on.. the Electric parking brake. Only city hybrid model has it.. but for a person that only drives on weekends and occasionally crossing state every 2 or 3 months.. I don't think it'll be good for the battery.

Now I'm in a dilemma would I need to jump start my battery a lot if I seldom drive the hybrid model (sometimes I go overseas for 2 weeks too)? Should I just give up on EPB and get the petrol rs model? 🤔
*
b4 proceed, why not join FB City groups. It still faced the annoying steering rack issue. my buddies using the same gen City V spec, he need 3 times steering rack on 1st year and 2 times rack at 2nd year. then he sent it to carsome.

eventhough it is under warranty for the rack, it needs only weekdays appointment for the car, cz weekend SC wont entertain the rack issue.

Carnival is quarter million liao,
If want to consider China models like Chery then have to take risk for long lasting. Even Geely X90 also unproven but seems to have little complaints so far.
But Japan models like Nissan is also risky due to inconsistent quality and support from TCM.

My recommendation is to test drive Toyota Zenix with the new TNGA chassis and Dynamic Force engine for reliable people carriers with 200K budget. Alternative is the older Mazda CX-8 see if you can accept the base model fittings.
*
heard the X90 sales is just too poor, until need to splash many more cash rebates especially heading year end. good to those who need 3 row seat car. Just spend some time whatapps a few SA for the X90 rebates in their FB groups, sure many will assist to give their best rebates

I've consulted some friends who works for second hand car reseller, and also some friends who own a city themselves, didn't hear any complaints about steering rack issues. I guess it's really down to luck.
You're right for HRV, but then probably I have to worry about HRV's steering rack issues as well.

Heard of Toyota Cross Hybrid having to jumpstart due to not using it for ~ 2 weeks. That's why I highlighted my concern. Maybe your 10 years old cars have better build compare to modern day cars? But since you say it's not a worry then I might just go ahead and buy the City Hybrid.

Thanks for reply guys!
*
guess eventhough it is a hybrid, it still use the conventional normal battery 12V to run the accesories etc. the normal battery will k.o one day, same as normal car battery, eventhough it is in hybrid form. maybe by running it or start it more, the alternator will kick some juice for the battery, hence it will last a bit longer than when put it in off at extended time (2 weeks, 2 months). if it died, the 12V battery is replaceable at acceptable price, use battery apps also easy for customers nowadays.

Rm5k too low. Rm10k should be better. My take, Proton model that come with campro cps, either manual or auto with gear.

its a CKD, quality wise not that great. if u choose CBU, its a totally different quality. since budget already have, better take recond CBU. for workshop. many normal workshop with good google review can take this car without no issue, it just typical Toyota cars. Parts, if wanna save, buy online and bring to workshop

Totalled my 2012 flx so trying to find replacement car by cash

1. Brand : any
2. Budget : 10k (plus minus 2k)
3. New/Used/Unreg.: used
4. Specs : 1.0 above
5. Transmission: auto/manual no problem
6. NA or FI ? dont matter
7. Type.: any
8. Remarks. : prefer newer model than the flx, at least 2 airbags, pretty reliable, fair servicing cost, fun to drive

This will be day to day car for work transit around 100km return trip. I have ertiga for weekend and family drive. Personally prefer persona vvt but couldnt find one within the budget.

How bad is the Preve non cfe? This model can get below 10k

Open for inputs. Tq
*
depends, very bad if u got a high mileage, never taken care by the previous owner for the CVT gb. once the belts burst etc, for the Punch CVT, standby anything from rm5k above for repair. Next to keep changing the OCH or most will buy an aftermarket OCH with a better material spec OCH at a few k price, but really tahan

Still exploring now, haven't test drive any cars yet. But have my eyes on Mazda 3 Sedan/HB, Jaecoo J7 & C9, BYD Seal & Sea Lion.
Btw, I am upgrading from a 2012 Honda Civic if that matters.

if the economy is good, or getting a great job offer next year, foresee mine replacing the 10 years old Accord with Jaeco C9 due to interior factors. Got accustom to car with good NVH via x70 CKD, Honda CKD wont offer that for NVH. My buddies bought CRV hybrid close to rm200k, jump in, the interior just typical, not amazing, plus NVH is still Honda Melaka. can hear the tyre noise. and outside sound if listen carefully

Agreed, that list is all over the place.

I like a SUV, leaning towards ICE and I guess reliability is my #1 priority.
I've heard good things about Mazda's after sales service, but I am not the biggest fan of the CX-5, and the CX30 feels too small, hence willing to consider Mazda 3.

I like the look and features of the Jaecoo C9 but reliability and aftersales is a ? for me. Haven't spoken to owners yet.
Do you know any owners or heard anything about the reliability or the aftersales of Jaecoo?
*
I follow the Tiggo 8 Owner Whatapps group and got it from their FB. Back then, it was kind of the first time the model was CKD at the Kulim branch, and the first batch had a sort of teething issue (understood). But maybe they really want this market; they did well for repair under warranty. Then, almost one year later, a few owners I know said there were no more issues with the car (Tiggo 8). They just disappointed cz now got 15k rebates.

So if wanna purchase car of any brand, skip the 1st batches.

Thanks for your comment. I have heard of the Volkswagen issue some years back, and nowadays you barely see many VWs around anymore (at least for me anecdotally). So far what I notice is Audis and VW have somewhat reduced, Merc and BMW is like... always there, and Volvo seems to be getting more common. Again just anecdotal experience...

I foresee the main use (other than daily driver to work) is going balik kampung every 2-3 weeks and possibly more frequent as parents age, but really its just looking for an excuse to upgrade my 20 yr old jalopy  biggrin.gif
*
VW are at affordable price or steal price for used unit. Yes u can depend on the VW warranty during the period, but the cost for its service at SC are too ridiculous for me. Rm4k+ at 60k km and up to rm6k+ for 120k km major service, that not include other wear and tear parts that requires to change as well, especially the tyre sensor at SC premium price.

At least if u send to Conti workshop outside, at major service, it won't touch that price figures.

Btw VW Arteon at rm50k+ rebates saw few SA drop that offer. Can nego more if meet them I believe

Hi guys dunno where can ask so I give it a try here see if any expert and give me some advice

First time bought a recon car from a local dealer. No prior experience in checking every detail
I’m not really happy with the purchase

Here are the things I notice after my car got delivered

1) model code
This car have two diff chassis codes from the official manufacturer
Let say
code ABC (manufactured date is 2017-2019)
code XYZ (manufactured date is 2020-2022)
My car year is 2022, but the chassis code is ABC
how can it be? The AP also stated 2022, could it be fake report?

2) car tire
Base on the label i check the car Tire manufactured in 2019
If my car is 2022, why would it put 2019 tires?
And the tires almost wear out and dealer didn’t have intention to replace tires for me.
I’m not asking a new tire and i understand it’s a used car from Japan but I’d expect at least left 20-30% to use
Now I need to fork out own money to replace the tires would cost me RM5K for 4 pieces

3) mileage
is that possible a car registered in Jul2022 in Japan on 60K KM mileage? That is almost 2K KM per month. within the same price range and year I think this car mileage is really really high

4) car keys
This car normally comes with two remote carkey + 1 digital cardkey
But I didn’t aware until the day I got my car
Only given 1 carkey + digital card key
possible Japan owner lost one of the key? Is it easy to duplicate in Msia?

In summary
Based on the chassis number+car tire production date+ 60K mileage

My best guess is this car made in 2019, Japan owner used it until 2022 and sold as a recon
Our Msia dealer use 2019 car sell at 2022 year car price

Can anyone guide me what can I do
Feel being cheated
*
Based on my family experience last time, 1 time with UK spec Merz another is Japan Recond Merz, both E Class model with different Recond shop. In summary on my case, Japan Spec Merz are more reliable and problem free than UK spec, apart from wear & tear like brakepad, absorber.

No 1 - no idea, suggest you use those inspection report checking so can get a better idea. from there u will know what's the truth.

No 2 - normal experience last time always moon and sun promise for newer tyres etc, end up both time with used tyre instead when taking the car. Initially complaint that car with old tyres year so shop promise "new" tyres when take. But both time got used tyres. Not sure your tyre sizes but rm5k for 4 tyres are too much. I always go to Oscar Bukit Kemuning for acceptable tyres prices, even cheaper than Shopee promo sales. Last time purchased 235/45/18 at rm530/pcs there for Michelin PS4.

No 3 - just accept that all recond shop will 150% scam on the mileage, its easy as 5 minutes job via ECU reader to done it, and they will use it as attractive feature for the car (very low mileage).

No 4 - any reputable key shop (or just find it on FB) can duplicate it easily, a more high tech key like those BMW sure are at more expensive price.

This morning my report out, true mileage no accidents
Confirmed is manufactured in 2019
But registered in 2022
idk what happen can put a stock for 3 years
My tyre also 2019
Now the problem is
Use 2019 car and sell 2022 price? WTF can I sue the car dealer or not
*
Hard to sue cz u already agreed with the price they shown, hence the transaction happened. I will suggest u change the 5-6 years old tyres asap.

Best to visit CX5 FB car group, got plenty of them selling theirs. Mainly as upgrading than any issue (except 2.2D), and most for 2.5T due to petrol thirsty.

Try to get the lowest mileage possible, due to warranty capped of 5 years/100k km slapped by Bermaz Malaysia. Even the car is 2 years old but hit 100k km, no more warranty

Hi sifus. I'm thinking to buy a 2nd hand car to replace my current 2009 Myvi. Budget 30k but preferably within 25k and leave another 10k max for fixing.

Priorities from highest order would be comfort (smoothen out bumpy road), safer than my Myvi which feels like tin kosong, not too small nor too big (no Axia nor Iriz size, nor SUV, prefer bigger than 2009 Myvi a bit), acceptable maintenance and fixing cost (willing to DIY and learn some also).

I don't care too much about FC because I don't drive everyday, usually just ride kapcai to LRT to work or eat. Occasionally drive back to hometown from KL to Pahang passing Karak Highway, so I prefer a safer car. I don't mind an older car as well, as long as the car was taken cared well by previous owner.

I do like to drive in highway but nothing too crazy and still prioritize safety. Willing to learn how to take care of the car and do minor maintenance and fixing. And will take care of it gao gao.
*
if it me with that budgets, Perdana 2.0 with Honda engine. if u got kids, kids will love the extra legroom at rear. long distance driving also comfortable. If can stretch more budget, take Perdana 2.4, get VSC, HID headlamp. Once u use HID/LED stock form, will never return to any car with halogen bulb.

boot sizes can put massive luggage.

Thank you all sifus for the recommendations. 🫡
Never expected this recommendation. I researched around and found that the government version and the 2016 public version is slightly different. I assume you meant the 2016 version?

And according to what I read, both versions might have some issues finding spare parts especially the 2016 version. The government version also tough to find the bumpers and some parts unique to this model. Correct me if I'm wrong though.
I wonder how comfortable is the Persona? I was actually expecting maybe C-segments and above so didn't expect this answer. Does the ESC really make that much difference? Anyway, thanks for the recommendation anyway. I believe you sifus still, so I shall go and try to sit in one to try first.

2016/2017 and the previous version (gomen version) both are based on Gen 8 Accord. The 2016/17 is where Proton did make some exterior changes, design which I think look refreshing and good. Miles better rear design vs G10 Accord (like ketam rear light).

Interior design both similar. For parts, based on my read on FB this Perdana group, still can find the exterior parts at fb, and those engine parts, suspension, shopee got
