Currently me and my wife eye on W177 A250 used. Found around RM150. Mileage 60k 2019
(loan approve, but still not sign)

She really like the car. Since it come out.

I wonder if any other model that can consider. I do consider BYD Seal or Sealion new.

Currently use Subaru XV1

I'm open to any suggestion.

not to be that guy but may i know why not the c class?

similar year similar price but a class utility wise lose quite a lot. especially boot space. and rwd vs fwd.

but i also like how a class looks compared to the c class. if dont take in the interior.

if youre ok with it and wife likes it, and within budget, go for it.

or if looking for other options, budget can fit civic hybrid. despite all the ricer image its a good sedan. but steering rack issue sad.

Yeah, our original plan was to go for the W205. But after checking it out, the interior feels a bit dated — maybe because the A-Class has a much nicer cabin.

At the same time, I’m starting to feel like I don’t really want to buy a car right now. Budget feels a bit tight, and it’s a big commitment.

Always stuck in between. Hahaha.

Glad to see some level headed members here.

Most owners underbudget the running & maintenance cost after purchase.
Used continental is not for the faint-hearted.
Then your aging permanent 4WD XV too..

As always, for 2 car household, my recommendation is to have a used car & a new one. Eg
A. Fully paid 5 year old family MPV
B. New sedan/ hatchback under warranty 5 years
Then after 5 years, get a new unit. Years may vary according to loan period hopefully not to the stupidity of 9 🙄

Based on buddies experience, the maintenance of any European, Conti car, max 7 years, above that, they need extra fees to make it run normally. For example, W212 E250, above 5 years, it started to ask for a new ECU, which is pricey if the owner needs brand new parts. Sure, got used, recond, or some can send it cheaper for repair it. Any Japanese sedan doesn't even need to swap ECU, even hit 10 years old, except if the owner mods the car, remaps, which makes proabality to damage the ECU. And the reason why need ECU needs to be replaced after some time for Mercedes, the ECU is placed near the engine, which makes it run hot area.

Can ask what are the 3 sedan cars in your family?
And how will this new SUV be financed?

Also, who will be driving this SUV,
Avg distance covered day/month,
on what type of road,
any passengers/ cargo?

Is Petrol price a concern for you?
Live in landed property?
with Solar panels?

Harrier recon latest generation is pretty good all rounder if u don't mind the underpowered engine and definitely carry a better impression compared to crv. Personally i'll say the design is much sleeker and sportier too just dislike the rear signals which are located at the bumpers. If u can stretch your budget a bit, get a demo local unit probably around 230k even better. Recon units are like hit and miss, may have more features but then likely will have some form of 'accident' and comes with much higher mileage. For latest generation harrier, go for year 2022 onwards which come with full digital meter.

1. Brand : any brands but probably no chinese cars if possible
2. Budget : 100-130k max
3. New/Used/Unreg : new
4. Specs :
5. Transmission : auto
6. NA or FI : doesnt matter
7. Type : car or suv. preferably suv
8. Remarks : ICE only. No EV. maybe can consider hybrid. priority will be more towards safety (both passive and active systems), small family so prefer more spacious rear seat, ample boot space, relatively cheap to maintain. mostly city driving. dont like those cars with screen only to operate aircon etc. (just seen the facelift X50, otherwise that will be perfect)

thanks

it's different for everyone
national or non-national car, how many years, and personal credit history.
refer this thread for a very general idea.

1. Brand : Toyota/Mazda/BMW/Audi
2. Budget : <190k
3. New/Used/Unreg : New and Used
4. Specs : As long as not too kosong spec
5. Transmission : Auto
6. NA or FI : Okay with either one
7. Type : SUV
8. Remarks : For wife, baby on the way. Was looking at X1, Mazda 3 Hatchback and CX-30, Audi Q3 and A4. Decided to put Audi at the bottom of the list due to maintenance concern. Currently leaning more to X1 but open to more suggestions.

Thanks in advance!

For wife with newborn, you willing to risk getting her a used continental? 😳

What car does your wife prefer?

Prefer smaller size compared to X3/X70/CRV
Probably a B-segment SUV/C-segment sedan
Less maintenance headache

Lowest risk of maintenance headache get new.

CX-30, Corolla Cross although classified as C-Segment their rear seats not exactly spacious so best to bring baby car seat along to see if can fit easy.

Sedans would be lower, unless your wife and you are athletic strong back muscles for baby and stuff, can plank > 3min 😬

For me, if growing family and have expertise for used car will go for Toyota Voxy, Honda Stepwgn.
