Guys,

I am surveying new cars below 50k for daily run about in town, shopping, coffee shop, park at LRT station, etc. Mostly one person use. 2nd car. I came across Kia Picanto. Online reviews sounds great. Will go for a test drive when I get a chance. Initially was looking at Honda City and the likes, but this one is almost 40% cheaper and sounds like similar quality. Meanwhile, any owners out there? Appreciate feedback.

Get a proton Saga premium RM40k. Cheaper than KIA Picanto. Also, spare parts are cheap.

Hi all,

Planning to buy a 6/7-Seater vehicle but quite confused as not many choices and big compromises for every choice. Hope to get some advice.

Budget: Under 200k.

1. Recon Estima (2016/2017, new facelift)
Pros: Low maintenance, reliable.
Cons: Recon so many dodgy dealer around, expensive for 2nd hand car, EOL model, Japanese language HUD, safety spec sucks (only pre-crash and lane assist, don't think got 6 airbag).

2. Mazda CX8 (Mid-plus Captain Seat)
Pros: Drive quality, safety features, new car, unique
Cons: Expensive, looks like cold car so not sure if 5 years down the line becomes a lemon.

3. Nissan Serena Highway Star Premium
Pros: Cheap, Many OTR, Spacious inside, safety features
Cons: Worst drive quality, worst looks (feels like aunty car), poor reliability

Open to other options too...

Maybe can consider Toyota Innova ?

Hi,
Instead of Polo or Picanto, why not get something mainstream such as a Vios, Yaris, City, or Jazz ?

They are very hardy & reliable, besides sipping fuel in carrying out their duties. All you need to do is pump petrol and go.

Part are plenty and service can be done anywhere, and in the years to come, these cars will still last, and if u decide to change to a better ride, there is no problem in trading them off.

Just walk off
He does not need your personal information to calculate a rough monthly payment

How about Toyota Altis ?
RM50k can get you a used unit around 2014/5
C segment, reliable, stable on highway, reliable & easy maintenance.

If you like X50, given that price range, don't think you can find anything new that offer the similar level. As to shortage or parts and long waiting time for parts, it is different from the car being reliable or not. It just means that if anything spoilt, the waiting time might be longer. The car can still be reliable.

From Viva to Axia ? Seems like "same car" even if the Axia is new. Same old 3-cylinder (albeit 1,000cc), small size, etc.

Why not get a Bezza X? I have both cars at home, and I enjoy driving the Bezza more between the 2 ( not that Bezza is the best car in the world blink.gif )

Engine is smoother, less to no vibrations, has 1300cc engine, a huge boot etc......think about it ?

Get the new Myvi 1.5H if you can forego the leather seat and cruise control.

At RM55k, it is a good deal for a basic town transport, and an occasional interstate travel.

If reliability is a priority, would rather get new unless you know the owner of the used unit or is knowledgeable in that make and model issues and can check carefully.

Firstly,
Suggest transfer 2019 Myvi to your name
Later register new car under wife name (sell old myvi).
(assuming she has 55% ncd and yours is zero)
You can still drive the new car, wife use 2019 myvi

Then,
test drive with wife the new 70-100K options
Sedans - S70 Almera City Vios
Hatchback - City Yaris
SUV - Ativa X50 WRV X70
MPV - Alza Xpander
*
Agree with you 100%.

Always sell the oldest car first.

Ya Toyota Yaris is pretty good value proposition. My daughter has a 2020 Yaris smiley model. I think she paid RM85K for the G spec.

Comparing with Myvi AV, the Yaris is miles ahead in NVH, and the suspension is well tuned ( not sampan). Power wise is so-so Toyota-ish. 1.5 liter engine with CVT. Power is a bit lacking, but good enough for KL or Penang city traffic snarls. Again, engine and CVT GB whining noise is well damped, typical of Toyota.
