QUOTE(RoundShells @ Feb 2 2025, 11:04 PM) 1. Brand : Prefer Japanese or reliable brand no easy breakdown. Hello welcome back from 2021 and congrats for getting the Iriz in 2022.2. Budget. Max 50k, can be above if manufactured on 2019 or newer due to 9 year loan availability. 3. New/Used/Unreg. Used 7. Type: Sedan or Hatch. A. for the same money I could experience a better (more comfortable) car that would be very nice. B. reduce the monthly commitment of currently 670 (370 car + 300 fuel) as I do roughly 350km per week of travel. Currently Proton Iriz 2022 1.3. I love almost everything bout the car, except for the fuel guzzling engine. 1) City Hybrid GM6: 2019 model still should have 9 year used car loan available + still have at least 2 years of battery warranty left. 2018 models I think can get for under 43k with 1 year battery remaining I think, which can be viable, but left with a 7 year loan. Being an only 6 year old honda, I think this platform should be relatively bulletproof. A. For comfort the City is not going to match the Iriz (if i recall my test drive of friends cars). Iriz is still the best car to chuck around corners while being extremely stable on highways. The 1.3 engine doesn't do the chassis justice though and it is better paired to the 1.6 Personally am still upset Proton is developing the new 1.5 Saga on the old Savvy platform rather than this one. Hence I suggest you test drive the new City (still same platform as the GM6) see if you like it. B. If cost savings is your objective, i would hesitate to move from 1. 3 year car to 6-7 year car 2. Known problem free car to unknown used unit 3. Normal ice to hybrid (need to maintain both engine & motor/battery & power split devices) 4.The risk of additional repairs as it ages will negate any fuel savings. Say fc 10kml to 14kml, for 350km/weekly =1400km/month you save ard 40liters =RM82/month only (ron95 Rm2.05) Hence if you want a better car, prepare to pay more and put aside cost savings. |

QUOTE(dogbert_chew @ Feb 3 2025, 11:36 AM) Hello welcome back from 2021 and congrats for getting the Iriz in 2022. Thanks sifu. Honestly I'm surprised to hear that the Iriz is more comfortable than the City, that's not what I'm expecting. Sure its a 6/7 year old vs 3 year old but I don't suppose Proton is known for comfort vs higher priced brands like Honda & Toyota. Cornering stability and sportiness aside that is.A. For comfort the City is not going to match the Iriz (if i recall my test drive of friends cars). Iriz is still the best car to chuck around corners while being extremely stable on highways. Seems like if cost saving while maintaining relatively stress-free & comfort is my goal, staying with the Iriz is the way to go. Although according to fuel consumption numbers I've seen around, hybrids go for 25km/l and even reaching 30km/l on the extreme end so I think that should count for something. Considering the new city is based on the same platform I don't really expect much improvement in terms of comfort then. That and 2ndhand costs go around 80k from what i see, which is kind of steep for me , especially that I'm expecting a much steeper depreciation for a 3 year old hybrid (2021 model) but i suppose the rule with hybrids and depreciation is no longer true nowadays. Or maybe the rule doesn't apply at this price point haha. I suppose what makes sense is to continue using until i can afford something more comfortable. What would be the next leg up other than the new city you mentioned? |
