QUOTE(RoundShells @ Feb 2 2025, 11:04 PM) 1. Brand : Prefer Japanese or reliable brand no easy breakdown. Hello welcome back from 2021 and congrats for getting the Iriz in 2022.2. Budget. Max 50k, can be above if manufactured on 2019 or newer due to 9 year loan availability. 3. New/Used/Unreg. Used 7. Type: Sedan or Hatch. A. for the same money I could experience a better (more comfortable) car that would be very nice. B. reduce the monthly commitment of currently 670 (370 car + 300 fuel) as I do roughly 350km per week of travel. Currently Proton Iriz 2022 1.3. I love almost everything bout the car, except for the fuel guzzling engine. 1) City Hybrid GM6: 2019 model still should have 9 year used car loan available + still have at least 2 years of battery warranty left. 2018 models I think can get for under 43k with 1 year battery remaining I think, which can be viable, but left with a 7 year loan. Being an only 6 year old honda, I think this platform should be relatively bulletproof. A. For comfort the City is not going to match the Iriz (if i recall my test drive of friends cars). Iriz is still the best car to chuck around corners while being extremely stable on highways. The 1.3 engine doesn't do the chassis justice though and it is better paired to the 1.6 Personally am still upset Proton is developing the new 1.5 Saga on the old Savvy platform rather than this one. Hence I suggest you test drive the new City (still same platform as the GM6) see if you like it. B. If cost savings is your objective, i would hesitate to move from 1. 3 year car to 6-7 year car 2. Known problem free car to unknown used unit 3. Normal ice to hybrid (need to maintain both engine & motor/battery & power split devices) 4.The risk of additional repairs as it ages will negate any fuel savings. Say fc 10kml to 14kml, for 350km/weekly =1400km/month you save ard 40liters =RM82/month only (ron95 Rm2.05) Hence if you want a better car, prepare to pay more and put aside cost savings. cempedaklife liked this post

QUOTE(dogbert_chew @ Feb 3 2025, 11:36 AM) Hello welcome back from 2021 and congrats for getting the Iriz in 2022. Thanks sifu. Honestly I'm surprised to hear that the Iriz is more comfortable than the City, that's not what I'm expecting. Sure its a 6/7 year old vs 3 year old but I don't suppose Proton is known for comfort vs higher priced brands like Honda & Toyota. Cornering stability and sportiness aside that is.A. Seems like if cost saving while maintaining relatively stress-free & comfort is my goal, staying with the Iriz is the way to go. Although according to fuel consumption numbers I've seen around, hybrids go for 25km/l and even reaching 30km/l on the extreme end so I think that should count for something. Considering the new city is based on the same platform I don't really expect much improvement in terms of comfort then. That and 2ndhand costs go around 80k from what i see, which is kind of steep for me , especially that I'm expecting a much steeper depreciation for a 3 year old hybrid (2021 model) but i suppose the rule with hybrids and depreciation is no longer true nowadays. Or maybe the rule doesn't apply at this price point haha. I suppose what makes sense is to continue using until i can afford something more comfortable. What would be the next leg up other than the new city you mentioned? |

Try to get the lowest mileage possible, due to warranty capped of 5 years/100k km slapped by Bermaz Malaysia. Even the car is 2 years old but hit 100k km, no more warranty |

I’m considering buying a second-hand Nissan Serena from 2018 or 2019. We have three kids and two adults, and I really like the sliding door feature because it makes it easier for the kids to get to the third row. Is there anything specific I should be cautious about with this car?

It is that or the Kia sorento diesel. If you don't mind diesel 6 seats (captain chairs). Diesel high torque, no need to rev high. Good cruiser. Did I choose the right SUV? or there is another options? Find the ones with 2nd row blinds. Either hyundai or Kia. |

Hi sifus. I'm thinking to buy a 2nd hand car to replace my current 2009 Myvi. Budget 30k but preferably within 25k and leave another 10k max for fixing.
Priorities from highest order would be comfort (smoothen out bumpy road), safer than my Myvi which feels like tin kosong, not too small nor too big (no Axia nor Iriz size, nor SUV, prefer bigger than 2009 Myvi a bit), acceptable maintenance and fixing cost (willing to DIY and learn some also). I don't care too much about FC because I don't drive everyday, usually just ride kapcai to LRT to work or eat. Occasionally drive back to hometown from KL to Pahang passing Karak Highway, so I prefer a safer car. I don't mind an older car as well, as long as the car was taken cared well by previous owner. I do like to drive in highway but nothing too crazy and still prioritize safety. Willing to learn how to take care of the car and do minor maintenance and fixing. And will take care of it gao gao. I researched around and found that the government version and the 2016 public version is slightly different. I assume you meant the 2016 version? boot sizes can put massive luggage. And according to what I read, both versions might have some issues finding spare parts especially the 2016 version. The government version also tough to find the bumpers and some parts unique to this model. Correct me if I'm wrong though. QUOTE(dogbert_chew @ Mar 4 2025, 09:49 AM) I wonder how comfortable is the Persona? I was actually expecting maybe C-segments and above so didn't expect this answer. Does the ESC really make that much difference? Anyway, thanks for the recommendation anyway. I believe you sifus still, so I shall go and try to sit in one to try first. |
