1. Brand: Toyota Prius/Prius C
2. Budget: 80k
3. New/Used/Unreg: Used
4. Specs: Hybrid
5. Transmission: AT
6. NA or FI: -
7. Type.: -
8. Remarks.: Good FC with Low Maintenance & No major breakdown
What I'm seeing here is
1) Prius C(2012/13/14): @Mudah: RM 50k avg, @Topmark: RM 60k above
2) Prius (2012/13/14): @Mudah: RM60k above, @Topmark: RM 75k avg
My question on "worthy" is if based on the budget, should i go for other cars or Prius models are worth getting?
Also, which is a better choice? Prius C or Prius?

Thanks alot~

what lead you to select one of these in the 1st place? is it the fuel economy? the environmental aspect?wanting to own something diferent? like it aesthetically? status?
why these 2 cars, why hybrids?

Hi sifus notworthy.gif

Need advice for fresh grad and getting a car. I don't mind 2nd car, but when looking at my mother keep on spending $$ for the 2nd-hand Citroen (1.9 cc engine??) makes me think twice to buy 2nd-hand car, the maintenance fees out-weight the price of owning/using new car. sometimes Change aircond, 1.5k, then suddenly change timing belt RM500 fly away, then sometimes wrong formen skills, basically spend almost like 50k++ on it over 9 years, bought with 5k cash if I remember correctly. So this got me thinking, why not just buy a local car if we knew this gonna happen?

Since I'm a entry level income, I would like opinion on the first car I should get (or better just use public transportation / However, I also okay if just leave car at LRT). I read somewhere that rule for monthly repayment loan is 20% of your salary (is it after EPF deduction??), and not more than 5 years of loan. I do have savings for the down payment (ngam ngam 5 figures nia)

1. Brand : Local car aiming for Perodua (Don't like Proton due to heard many stories like power window rosak, this rosak that rosak etc.... heard more than Perodua)
2. Budget : 20k- 55k ~ish On The Road with Insurance
3. New/Used/Unreg : New (This is where I need advice)
4. Specs : Handling, low FC and low maintenance cost (I know higher priced car are better with lower maintenance cost, but I wish to balance with the fresh grad entry level like me. Bought what I could afford)
5. Transmission : Auto
6. NA or FI : what is this? pai seh dunno
7. Type : Don't mind
8. Remarks :

Should I aim for high-spec Axia? or just 1.3 Bezza Advance? or basic 1.5 Myvi or 2nd-hand Myvi?

Thank you sifus

that bit about proton reliability was somewhat true 10 years ago.... now they are nolonger this horrific, suggest you bring them beck into the fold since they are pretty decent bang for buck
2. Budget : 20k- 55k ~ish On The Road with Insurance
whats with the huge range?
3. New/Used/Unreg : New (This is where I need advice)
if you buy used, interest rates are abit higher? best do the math first
4. Specs : Handling, low FC and low maintenance cost (I know higher priced car are better with lower maintenance cost, but I wish to balance with the fresh grad entry level like me. Bought what I could afford)
the italic bit is nonsense.... one cannot generalize like that. Cheap cars are 'usually' cheaper to maintain... the only cheap cars difficult to maintain are those imported rare ones or very old cars where parts are scarce (your Citroen falls into this list, god knows why you even got that... you should ask owners whats the maintanance like before selecting a car, let that be a lesson)
5. Transmission : Auto
6. NA or FI :  what is this? pai seh dunno
no matter to you i guess, for this $ you will get an NA
7. Type : Don't mind
8. Remarks :

actually you still havent put down what you would like in a car... you have basically only mentioned that you want the car to be cheap to run. Technically speaking, the cheapest car that can do this is the old saga.... under 10k, will run all the way till its death icon_rolleyes.gif

i suggest you consider a 'newish' car, one about 1-2 years old with service records. New cars depreciate very fast so you wont feel the burden as much since the 1st owner has already cushioned the blow alittle. A car this new would still be under warranty for a while to save your butt incase crap happens.

Thank you sifus

well... if you scroll back a few pages, there have been suggestions for cars around this price range but if you want something to trash about and cost barely anything in maintanance, revisit old junk potongs....

Thanks lsm1991 and Zenith for all your input,

Had made decision, I know this might not pleased some people but as long as my wife please with it I'm okey.

I go for Suzuki Alto, good EEV might be underpowered but considering to ferry kids to school and easy to go to pasar beli ikan. LOL

Safety wise it has ABS, dual airbag, EBD and ESP.

Maintenance since Suzuki and Proton is collaborating together, I found it should be easy to find parts.

Thats a fair price...btw, depending on mileage as well. And buying from owner, you could prior discuss service history and any own problem or parts that need to be changed

I'm a complete noobie when it comes to cars, so this might be a little difficult, but I'm just looking for a car with good safety features and excellent fuel economy.

QUOTE
1. Brand : I don't care.
2. Budget : Pretty flexible, let's start with MYR60,000. Of course, a lower cost would be preferable.
3. New/Used/Unreg : STRICTLY new.
4. Specs : What is this? I have no idea what this means.
5. Transmission : I don't care.
6. NA or FI : FI (I heard it's better for fuel economy?) - not very strict about this criteria.
7. Type : Sedan
8. Remarks : Airbags for both driver and front passenger. Easy to find spare parts, so please don't suggest really rare cars where I need to wait for over a month for parts. Uh, how about a car that is not known to break down every few months?

Also, how do you ensure you get the best deal? I'm hoping that I will get an offer with the best price when I purchase a new car, but I have little idea on what is the price range I can expect. I've been offered several cars by some dealers who tried to sell me cars at pretty expensive prices (think Perodua Axia at MYR49,000 or Proton Persona at MYR69,900). I'm even willing to pay the full cost of the new car upfront, if it means I can get a significantly cheaper price. My friends who are more familiar with cars have advised against doing so, though.

your options are basically these

bezza
-small (easy for noobs to park)
-imo, the 1.3 is butloads better, 1.0's dont move anywhere

saga
-same old saga with botox inside and out.
-has some added safety features

persona
-new stuff, has a bigger iriz engine yay~
-stocked with safety features
-much smaller than the old persona

to be honest nothing much differentiating these cars, just the size and pricetags.
bezza and the persona being the newest and more high tech of the lot. These 2 offer good economy and excellent safety features (high end bezza only tho). Just pick based on your requirements, nothing really difficult here

*not sure why you are considering the axia, its not a sedan.
**also, NA = naturally aspiated aka (no turbo) and FI = force induced (hello turbos), no issue for u since you cant afford a turbo (side note, nowadays turbo cars sip fuel, they really do. better than na even)

Dear all,
I have been driving an used cefiroA33 for a decade, thinking of replacing it to a D-segment car too. Been looking at Mazda 6 2013/2014. Many reviews i read told that it is a great car, but why it is not selling? Would maintenance is an issue? Shall i go for 2.0 or 2.5? As it is not urgent indeed, shall i wait till 2017, as would the price make any different? Should i consider other makers that i should also look into at? Many thanks!

1. Brand : Mazda 6 (2.0/2.5)
2. Budget : 60~90k)
3. New/Used/Unreg : used
4. Specs : D-segment car
5. Transmission : auto
6. NA or FI :
7. Type : 2013/2014
8. Remarks : wagon is acceptable!
