I did it back then with less than SGD4.....forget about a drink even....yes....so i'm saying depends on how much one would spend on entertainment...
i dont go clubbing nor drinking nor smoking...LOL

With a salary of between 2.5k-3k mind you
*
Respect for being able to do it rclxms.gif
But your earlier post mentioned 1k is on the high side, not that it can be lower
Of course there are those spending 500/month on expenses too I bet

I guess in hindsight if you managed to save up for all those its worth it!

On the topic of spending money, is there any hidden gems to visit in Singapore? Or any nice place to eat? laugh.gif

tbh i don't think i explored singapore enough. the typical "when you visit a place for holiday, you do everything in one weekend. when you work at the place, you don't even bother exploring" laugh.gif

u single or married?usual SGD1k spending per month for single would be on the high side....
Saving SGD1.6k per month...would be still much much better than trying to save up RM4000 back in MY.....every SGD dollar save its MYR3+/-

I am single, but i am currently dating.

dating expenses is not that high, 2-3 times eat restaurants a week, maybe thats why got to 1k/mth. my gf spilt the bill with me sometimes cause she earn slightly less then me.

I also do go overseas as well for holidays, usually that is using my annual bonus.. go aussie, china, taiwan, japan etc... my bonus (>4 mth) is enough for me to go overseas 2-3 times a year. the rest i save.

1k breakdown is roughly $20 for 3 meals a day (600), transport (120), phone bill (50), discretionary spending (200+) like movies, buying clothes, toilet accessories etc... i am currently using a iphone app to track my expenses so it is fairly accurate.

there are some nice food in sg, notably the tiong bahru market, amoy st, jurong yuhua market also okok...

it depends on what u like to eat reallly. i go too many places that i cant recommend all at one go!

How's the MY package like since they know you are working in SG? You ask for the salary in your application or they offer you within their budget?
*
It was before I moved here to SG. I requested a slightly higher offer than the avg market rate while I fill in the form during interview. And few days after the interview they sent me an offer together with my salary, which stated the salary for probation and also after the probation. It was about RM300-400 difference.

monthly u can pay with your CPF yes...but remember....its max loan 80%...20% balance is 15% from CPF...5% cash...
those who started working even after 5 years......do you think you would have enough of money in your CPF account(OA portion) to pay up that 15%?
Don't forget that there's additional buyer stamp duty(ABSD) for Singapore PRs

For eg(in my case) 3rm resale =SGD300k.
15% of that SGD45,000 from CPF Ordinary Account only.
Additional buyer's stamp duty due to both of us being Singapore PR(5% of the price =15,000)

From the above that's 60k from CPF Ordinary Account.

If you dont have this 60k...then its all cold hard cash.

5% cash = 15,000k

You do the balance of the maths...lawyer fee/basic buyer's stamp duty/transfer fee etc etc

After that the monthly is not a problem.

On frugal months I can save around 7-8.
Cost of living quite cheap in SG but I do miss certain things about MY.
I.e. Food methinks MY has an edge, unless if you go whack atas restaurants all the time.
