Anyone knows how i can setup 12 month GIRO to pay the IRAS income tax via internet banking?
Do i just setup monthly recurring transfers myself, at the tax total divided by 12?

QUOTE(totti 10 @ Jun 21 2016, 11:05 PM) Man I just got the letter today as well. A bit shocked how moving to another bracket changes the amount drastically. From the letter you received from IRAS, there's a column where you can tick "monthly". Send the form back to them and you're good Ah I was trying to do the online banking setup instead of using the formCheers Moving to another bracket is always a good thing bro |

QUOTE(Ultimaweapon @ Jun 22 2016, 05:12 PM) I see, it's about $50 from SG to 1U if bought in Singapore and RM117 (about S$39) if bought from Malaysia. Just buy online from http://aeroline.com.my/ to get the RM priceBuying from Malaysia is not really an option unless you're willing to go to JB and get it. |

Check out https://transferwise.com/
I'm guessing remittance works the same way as this, but transferwise's rates are even better 1st transfer requires ID verification first though |

QUOTE(themarksman @ Jun 24 2016, 05:19 PM) hey guys, i read a few posts back that its possible to open a bank account at DBS using the IPA letter. however at their website it clearly states that it requires proof of address, which is not available in my IPA. would i still be able to open an account? i plan to finalise my accommodation next month, but to be safe wanted to kaotim the bank stuff first Proof of address is your rental contract |

QUOTE(rookie93 @ Jun 28 2016, 10:36 AM) And oh yea, what telco should I subscribe to...? Postpaid seems to be the more cost effective choice. I'm thinking of going for Starhub postpaid. Anyone using Starhub? If other carriers mind sharing opinion? Starhub is goodIf you dont need a new phone take the non-contract option and its very cheap After tax and caller ID add on im paying ~$28 per month for the 3GB plan |

Yeah i think this needs to be posted in the first post guide for newcomers
Just get a POSB account as your first account to avoid all the hassle Maintain 1k average monthly balance and then you're free to open anything else, but at least you have 1 bank account to start off |

How many times a week do you guys withdraw cash to worry so much about the ATM queue?
Over here almost every lunch and dinner is a queue, the once a week ATM queue is the least of my concerns |

QUOTE(Ultimaweapon @ Jun 30 2016, 07:30 PM) Hi does anyone have any tips or advice on renting places? If you're serious PM me and i'll refer my agent to youI'm planning to move in August and view at the end of July, but I'm tired of being ignored by the agents when I messaged them my details these few days. Is it too early? When is the proper time to start asking? Does anyone know any friendlier agents? He can arrange a few places for you to look at on the day that you come over based on the criteria that you have His fee is the usual half month rent (plus gst) |

QUOTE(Irzani @ Jul 7 2016, 05:46 PM) Is it enough for SGD 4K gross to lives in Singapore? Moreover, I'm thinking of doing part time PhD (no scholarship) in NUS/NTU. I've only 3 years worth of experiences as cyber security law enforcer + 1 year as IT Enterprise Architect in GLC. Is the salary enough for a single man + part time student? I prefer not to share room and toilet ... Quite sufficient, as long as you dont need to live a flashy lifestyleTQ for your advice Can have a good amount of savings too if you're thrifty |

QUOTE(playstan211 @ Jul 14 2016, 01:36 PM) My employer in Singapore gave me a stack of forms which I have to sign. one of it is credit check on me. The more interesting thing is why are you worried about them doing a credit check Can i know if I don't sign the credit form, what will happen? Can they access my credit report through ccris since they are not a member, unless going through their subsidiary in malaysia. |

QUOTE(Ultimaweapon @ Jul 14 2016, 02:11 PM) Although for me I don't mind, they can go ahead and look but why would any Same reason why they ask have you ever been convicted of XXX, etc etc company wants to do a credit check on you? Just curious. I guess being an ex convict is in the same category as being an ex bankrupt or highly delinquent person |
