Got my 500 Mbps upgrade, and speedtest with TP-link Archer AC1200
Uplink - 510 Mbps
Downlink - 486 Mbps

I thought someone says AC1200 cannot reach 500 Mbps?
*
WiFi no, LAN should be OK provided coupled with good cable.

AC1200 is Gigabit router ,so wired can reach ~1000Mbps.
Many of them mention speed and didn't notice is wired or WiFi.
Try WiFi 5GHz and see ...... hmm.gif

Edit:
Previous 100Mbps package..?

Yea, I didn't mention speed.
On my TIME300 with AC1200 ,wifi 5gHz I got ~280-290Mbps.

So with TIME500 maybe a bit more....

Edit:

TP-Link AC1200 - TIME300 - WiFi 5GHz...

In your theory that mean all gigabit routers can reach WAN speed 1000Mbps thru wired? I doubt so
WAN speed is so dependent on the router chipset.

TP-Link
Archer C1200 - 100Mbps, ~300Mbps

If you read it well, that mean around 100 to 300, not 500 or 1Gbps like you said gigabit router.
Gigabit router mean LAN speed, not WAN speed.
Just trying to clarify...

Not all. As you say, it depends on the router CPU or chipset, and the speed posted above is wireless speed.

That clear the doubt then, indeed wifi speed was about 200Mbps during the test from my cell phone and laptop.

My phone also get that speed when about 1m away from router. If 3-4m away, drop to ~350mbps.

Came back from work just now and do a speed test on my internet.

Lo and behold, upgraded already.

Don't really need that much speed because hardly download anything and don't have 4k TV. Hopefully Time introduce cheaper plans.

Mine was upgraded today from 300Mbps - https://www.speedtest.net/my-result/d/577ca...f6-e1629862c935. Yesterday it was still 300Mbps.

I use a dedicated router - https://www.ubnt.com/edgemax/edgerouter-lite/ - solid router that can easily handle large transfers.

Before, with my Synology AC1900 alone acting as combined router & access point, it would hang whenever there was a large download happening on the LAN and wifi connections died.

So if you're having problems when someone is doing heavy downloading, get a separate dedicated router.
