QUOTE(BoomChaCha @ Mar 21 2016, 11:43 AM) UOB FD Promo, minimum RM 10K, need fresh fund, Thank you very much for the updated info. My FD matures tomorrow and the timing could not be better.no need to open saving account. Valid until end of March (1) 12 months: 4.5% (2) 10 months: 4.18% (3) 5 months: 4.05% (4) 11 Months: 4.245% ---> this needs to open saving account I might overlook this and end up going for much lower FD promo without your updated info |

Called BR. They currently have 2 promo. 12 mth 4.28% and 2 yrs 4.55%.
Asked for 12 mth 4.5%, getting HQ approval. Likely to get it based on what I was told. As to the 4.55% promo with SMS for contest/lucky draw, if have 2 certs of 50k each, then allowed to have 2 entries. Meaning 2 SMS for the contest/lucky draw. This is to answer one question that was posed short while ago by one forummer. This post has been edited by bbgoat: Mar 21 2016, 02:32 PM |

QUOTE(bbgoat @ Mar 21 2016, 12:04 PM) Called UOB PB centre, confirmed that new FD promo 12 mth 4.5%. Nice nice. My next FD to mature end of March is in UOB! Goodie from UOB. Originally thinking no more 4.5% thingy. That changed my coming plan. However as part of diversification plan, will still nego with BR for higher rate. Big Bones should be happy as 5% target not lost yet ! Guys, need to confirm one thing on FD vs home loan. Short story, I have an ongoing full-flexi home loan with linked current account. If dump into the current account, the amount will offset the home loan interest. At the moment, my home loan interest is BLR - 2.45% = 4.15%. So, I think I am not wrong to say that I should continue putting into FDs that have higher rates than 4.15% rather than dumping into the flexi-loan right? Settling the loan is not an issue as I can settle it anytime but rather need the liquidity for other purposes (the monthly fee of RM10 is also minimal and is not a big issue). For the Maybank GiA, is it as long I have a maybank2u account I can deposit my saving into GiA directly online without going to the counter?
I've just applied a saving account at maybank for this purpose. |

Since the FD interest rate is trending down, you are not wrong to lock your money at 4.5%p.a. for the next 12 months. Hehe.... my loan was in 2011. BLR-2.45%. At that time, BLR was 6.60%. Now banks use BR. So what is the current BLR? |

QUOTE(anonymous552235 @ Mar 21 2016, 08:31 PM) Don't understand. You're referring to FD rates?Actually I can just issue a cheque from my home loan current account and put in UOB FD this week for 4.5% then uplift the matured FD next week and dump into home loan account. Still fresh fund! |

QUOTE(duncan880409 @ Mar 21 2016, 09:45 PM) HE basically meant this Thx for the link. Now I understand. In that link, it was also mentioned that HSBC was also planning to raise rates. However, after some googling, it looks like HSBC didn't raise the rates. Phew!Beside the normal rate 6.85 BLR.. some bank already rise it in January http://business.asiaone.com/news/foreign-b...-cost-borrowing In that case, I think I better dump back into home loan first. FD next time. This post has been edited by kmarc: Mar 21 2016, 10:33 PM |
