Captain..

But your blog mentioned RM 25K wor..

QUOTE(guy3288 @ Mar 3 2016, 10:54 PM)
that  important point needs highlight.
Small FD eg  RM1000, rate difference not important, 3.45% or 4.5%
nothing much to lose..

However i was quite annoyed by those who pretend to speak your mind earlier,
saying if you already have tens of millions in FD, you wont bother be it FD rate 3.45% or 4.55%

That is kind of silly.
An additional RM10,000 in interest return in a year is nothing?

The more millions they have in FD the more they must pay attention to the rate
.
3.45% or 4.5% can give additional RM100,000 a year!

if people have the attitude already have millions , wont bother value of  RM10,000
i doubt they have reached there, by  own effort.

Its good that you didn t come out sounding like what they have said ..
*
100% agree with Tan Sri thumbup.gif

QUOTE(kopifan @ Mar 3 2016, 08:42 PM)
ok tq. i saw the RHB offering FD/CMD-i 4.45% for 12 months. The FD is conventional FD right. I am not interested in the Islamic Commodity Murabahah one
Maybank 12m effective 4.38% pa Any idea if this is a step up type?
Looks like the highest straight forward conventional FD are by
1) BSN 12m (4.5%)
2) Alliance 3-9m (4.35%) but needs 50k
3) OCBC 15m (4.3%)
*
QUOTE(adele123 @ Mar 3 2016, 10:35 PM)
Actually conventional and islamic same same la. Both applicable to rhb.

#2 should be rhb, no? Just need casa for interest crediting.
*
Miss Adele is right, RHB is No 2 now..

1) BSN 12m (4.5%)
2) RHB 12m (4.45%)
3) Alliance 3-9m (4.35%) but needs 50k
4) OCBC 15m (4.3%)

a RHB branch... doh.gif

RHB right now does not have any FD promo..

According to RHB, maybe need to wait until April to see
if any FD promo or not..

Thank you very much for the updated info. My FD matures tomorrow and the timing could not be better.
I might overlook this and end up going for much lower FD promo without your updated info
*
You are welcome.. smile.gif

I just placed this UOB FD yesterday, a tradition & simple FD, interest will pay upon maturity,
no need to open a saving account.

According to UOB, this promo has started since last Friday..

No need open savings account so you just deposit and get the cert? That day the girl kept insisting that I must open a savings account and they must issue an ATM card and online pin to me. I keep asking the reasons and they said now is the standard practice. I told them not all banks required and she insist. So I have no choice but just to open. Opening account took me 45 min but then processing FD at counter only like 5 min. If opening account not necessary then I'm going to write in to them asking why the inconsistency.
*
No, no need to open a saving account.
Yes, I just went to the counter to place this FD and then got the FD receipt within 10 minutes.

In fact, I do not have a saving account in UOB.

Ha ha.. biggrin.gif
I think the UOB girl wanted to make incentive lah...

Why need to open a saving account? Unless if the interest needs to credit to the saving account.

Next time happen like this again, you can say you want to talk to the Branch Manager to confirm...

Hong Leong FD Special Offer but need to deposit to Saving Plan sweat.gif sweat.gif

Worst part is she intro this SCB/Prudential agent who has been working in uptown for 5 years & said I have been putting into FD promos since she started working there (I really cannot remember if it has been that long). Probably everyone has changed except her, ha! biggrin.gif

Anyway, will try to avoid SCB unless their rates are irresistable

tats mentality of a kiddo.  doh.gif who want to join pb of bank, then have the hassle of selling the items later on.  devil.gif
*
Yes. Somebody will buy it since can save RM 100.
If with un-opened box, can give a receipt for warranty claim then can sell faster and can also sell for a better price..

QUOTE(Ramjade @ Mar 29 2016, 06:08 PM)
You don't hang out in Garage sale much do you? I hang out, I saw with my own eyes people buying higher than normal apple price. Why do you think scalper exist? Also, some people willing to buy 2nd hand ipads.

Unker boom is a kiddo? I remember he took the FD promo with medklin air purifier and sold it off. He make quite a profit combining both interest and sales of the air purifier. He definitely have >RM250k. The last I checked, he is no kiddo.
*
I sold my brand new Medklin purifier for RM 400 (market price was around RM 550 if I remember correctly) without a receipt
given to the buyer because I misplaced the receipt.

This buyer sent her young wife to collect it from me in a shell station... brows.gif But unfortunately nothing else was
happened.. sad.gif

Lazada is selling the cheapest Samsung 32" LED TV UA32J4003 for RM 699, if SCB is giving this same model, the I think
can resell it in between RM 500 to RM 600.

Last time I think around 3 years ago, I sold one Philips 42" LCD TV (gift from SCB) with original receipt for RM 1300.00, but market price at that time for this TV was RM 1600 in Tesco.
The buyer did not even open the box to check since the TV box was wrapped in plastic rope by the Philips factory.

QUOTE(msa9696 @ Mar 29 2016, 05:46 PM)
Sent a nasty e-mail to UOB on different treatments, why some customers not required to open savings account but some required. Eventually they called me and confidently said that this is the policy across all their branches and asked me to provide them the branch which did not comply, they will investigate and revert. I eventually just tell them to close the case and not pursue further
*
Bro.. I really think some UOB staffs mislead customer to open saving account in order to make incentives.
For me, I have placed FD with UOB for about 5 years but my UOB branch has never asked me to open a saving account.

But never mind lah... you have the option to close the saving account in few months later.

QUOTE(ljf123 @ Mar 29 2016, 05:54 PM)

To sell faster is mudah.
Lowyat garage are mostly students and young men.
Lelong got more matured people.

Mudah & lelong are also FOC...

I hope RHB will come out with a new attractive FD promo in April.. hmm.gif

Ya I also don't want to argue with them, just frustrated not because of the ATM fee but because it's time consuming opening an account.
I feel the instructions to branch inconsistent too, because I was outright rejected by the teller then only I went to the personal banker to open account
*
Oh....no.. you paid for the ATM card..?
That is very bad of the two UOB staffs... bruce.gif
I suspect the teller "pakat" with the personal banker to share incentives.. hmm.gif

If I were you, I would probably to claim the ATM card money back..

People will always buy if the price is right or if they really want something. Simple supply and demand.

Certain electronic item, no receipt, still ok. Like ipad as long as box is seal, price is less than apple Malaysia, can buy cause if one knows how to use ipad, one knows how to make the ipad last min 5 years. I got mine from Apple Malaysia at RM200 off. whistling.gif biggrin.gif Now Apple Malaysia cover the hole already. Stuff like air purifier, TV, better have receipt for claiming warranty. Those are stuff that can spoil.
As long as you priced your ipad cheaper than Apple Malaysia and the box is still seal, DO NOT OPEN THE BOX TO CHECK THE IPAD you will have a buyer. Give RM100 price cut, good enough. For student, RM100 is a lot unless they are the type ask money from parents.

Sorry for being OT.

Agree, but if can provide together with an original receipt that will be perfect..and can sell faster too..

QUOTE(Ramjade @ Mar 29 2016, 11:08 PM)
Btw, unker BoomChaCha all this FD with gift like air purifier/TV, will you be given receipt for claiming warranty?
*
Yes...
Those free electrical gift items from FD promo were attached with one A4 size document (some thing like delivery note)
for warranty claim lah..

QUOTE(Ramjade @ Mar 29 2016, 11:31 PM)
If interest < sales of items + interest, better take the gift and sell them like what unker boom did. By choosing the free gift and selling it, his effective interest rate shot up drastically. I remembered he showed the calculations for it. However, don't get bluff by bank like how PB try to bluff customer by giving a free Galaxy Note (not sure which version). Turn out even with the Galaxy Note, effective interest rate is lower than other banks. (if put FD same amount, still got leftovers after using interest given by banks - extra I think RM1k)   blink.gif  vmad.gif  mad.gif

However, if interest > total sales + interest, better take FD with the higher interest.  biggrin.gif
*
Oh man.. doh.gif calculation? No lah..
But I can only tell you that the TV & Medklin were my extra net profits on top of FD interest

QUOTE(HarpArtist @ Mar 29 2016, 11:36 PM)
yes dear, i got the gist of what u are saying some posts ago.

what i am saying is i would never consider sale of items as profit as i actually have to get up and work,  to get it sold and profit realised, as opposed to getting interest into my account.

why do i say that? because instead of wasting time selling i could be working and earning much more than the sale... sweat.gif
