First of all, thanks to all whom had help me decide and thanks for all your input, appreciated notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

Finally got my X8500H setup over the weekend....New toy to play around, used manual setup and then audyssey, pretty impressed with the MultiEQ.

The AVR remote is pretty handy as well. Still fine tuning and moving my speakers to play around and playing with the graph! hahaha

Setting up Speaker A+B to play together was pretty straight forward, I was afraid it would be complicated since Im not familiar with the menu.

One question, though, did anyone manage to configure the Denon remote to control Astro ultra plus box?

I have setup my TV, but Astro (Samsung) code given, doesnt seem to be responding
http://manuals.denon.com/AVRX8500H/preset/...PresetCodes.pdf

Appreciate if any info here, thanks

Can't help you with Astro as I already cut that shit.

But on other point of Audyssey - make sure you get the app and also check out Ratbuddysey. These 2 things alone will get you 90% of what a minidsp + calibrated mic + REW will do for you.

Right right, totally forgot about that...will test ratbuddyssey out!

My parents needs them, due to local channel...hahaha, cant run away from Astro.

I had Astro plugged into DVD HDMI port, but denon didnt like the RC code starting with 0...so had to move it to Aux2 to key in the code, yet it doesnt recognize

Next let me see if I could setup UnifiTV as well...hahaha

BTW, do you use a fan for your receiver? Mine gets as high as 60C at high volume

Denon and Marantz receivers are notorious for running hot, most of the heat isn't coming from the amp section but rather from the HDMI and logic process board.

For my Yamaha A3080, it barely gets lukewarm. So no fan needed for me, just AC is good enough.

Ya, realized that after reading it from online users. will be getting a cooler, just dont want to rush into buying, just ordered some HDMI cables, since mine are just 6GBps cables. Used the amp to test out the cables...cool feature though!

Reading r/hometheater it seems that SVS subs are regarded as some of the best subs one could buy.

But the price for SVS here are pretty high assumingly due to shipping, import taxes and whatnot. Prices from Maxx Audio:
PB-1000 PRO - RM4099
SB-1000 PRO - RM3579
($599 & $499 in the US)

Are there subs from other brands available here that is comparable to the SVS but cheaper (due to being widely available, lower shipping cost etc)?

In SEA, SVS is still the value king. In the US, SVS has started to become a joke.

Rythmik is sold in Malaysia, slightly higher priced than SVS but offers better performance especially if you want to go for the 20" monsters.

That's just how shitty our market is. Always has been. There is no choice actually.
