Want to share my recent AVR experience.

I was here a few months ago asking about getting a new AVR. I wanted to get the Denon X2300W or the Marantz SR5011 to replace my old Yamaha RX-V371. I found a used Denon X1300W for a good price so I grabbed it. The features were good compared to my old AVR but the sound was very thin and not as exciting even compared to the yammy 371 I had previously.

A month later I sold it and bought the Marantz SR5011 (I actually made a gain because I sold the X1300 for a higher price than I bought it). I am happy to report that I am totally awed by it! The mids are just amazingly solid and my "docile" PSB sub just came alive and I can now feel the sub in my face and chest instead of just hearing it. Truly amazing to see such a big difference between these two AVRs, especially since the X1300 is only 1 step below X2300 and SR5011 in terms of product range.

The only shortcoming of the SR5011 is that the highs are not as exciting as the Yamaha was. The highs sound good and solid but doesn't tingle the senses like the Yammy did. I suppose the Yammy is a bit bright and the Marantz is warmer. Well, you can't have everything, but overall I'm very happy with the upgrade and feel that its a very worthwhile upgrade.

I would also say, that the X1300 is to be avoided. It's really not worth the price. Either spend more for the SR5011 or get a budget Yammy which may not be great but does sound a lot better then the Denon.

Mostly demo unit and it cheaper than used unit probably. Wait for their clearance sale.

What model are you comparing ? A3080 has a unique feature of surround AI that marantz and Denon don’t have.

Against which Denon/Marantz model? Be a bit more specific.

End game model. Later on you can send in to Denon to upgrade the HDMI board for 2.1 functionality if you need it.

Do check out Ratbuddysey though, makes it as powerful as manual YPAO.

Can't help you with Astro as I already cut that shit.

But on other point of Audyssey - make sure you get the app and also check out Ratbuddysey. These 2 things alone will get you 90% of what a minidsp + calibrated mic + REW will do for you.

Denon and Marantz receivers are notorious for running hot, most of the heat isn't coming from the amp section but rather from the HDMI and logic process board.

For my Yamaha A3080, it barely gets lukewarm. So no fan needed for me, just AC is good enough.

i am using a fan for my avr.. it gets hot.. normal for denon 

Congrats, is the bass punchy now? Haha such a monstrous AVR.

mine 1 scare hot.. my floor also wet d because the unit sweating 

facts is we all poors lvl no use ac one.
i dont even have a tv so many yr ady.

i feel marantz release heat passively than denon set.
in fact they use similar components inside.
so feeling the casing hot= safe
