Anyone else notice that Starbucks has increased their beans prices? Now even the 'regular' ones are priced at RM48! IIRC, it used to be RM35. sigh what a move from them. hope they revert back to the old pricing (though unlikely), since not many customers are making their own coffee at home anyway.

So to those making their own coffee at home, may want to consider buying from somewhere else - local roasters from Shopee/Lazada, perhaps?

No. Because many of people here probably are into specialty coffee (what Starbucks reserve is offering)
Just search both Lazada and Shoppee, there tons of seller, but pricing wise it depends on the beans, roast date is way earlier compared to Charbucks.

Well this is good to know, as less demand may force Starbucks to revert to their old pricing. Understand that what they offer is not the best (drinkable, at best), but it is convenient, as can grab and go. But with the new pricing, may have to plan ahead - agak2 beans about to finish, have to initiate order dy.

Sorry maybe off topic. I wanted to share my discovery about coffee creamer, and it works perfectly with milk tea too.

Used to think sugar and fresh milk alone were the best. But now my latest addiction is sweetened condensed milk + whipping/heavy cream (not whipped cream ok). This decadent combo tastes soooo creamy and nothing can come close. The key is used in moderation.

For 450ml of brewed coffee or black tea, i used 60g sweetened condensed milk (any brand), and 20-25g of anchor whipping cream. Do not overuse or ur beverage will become buttery.

Add the whipping cream directly (no need heating) into ur condensed milk first, mix them up for easier dissolve to avoid lumps, then add your brew. If you use milk regularly, you will notice the milk taste varies with brand. Some taste ok some not so, some go along with coffee but not with tea. But whipping cream is an all-rounder. It works with all beverages, the trick is it must be paired with sweetened condensed milk.

Now you've got yourself the best creamer in the world. The next thing you gonna do is play with your coffee or tea blend for best taste. Enjoy!

your 'any brand' sweetened condensed 'milk' is probably normal creamer... has palm oil as one of the main ingredients...

'pure' full cream sweetened condensed milk only one brand locally... F&N... only comes in 392g small tin... you can also get from Nestlé but is imported and more expensive

2nd tier is sweetened condensed filled milk... only got two brands, F&N and Marigold...

whipping/cooking cream has 30%+ milk fat that is what giving you the smooth feeling... lol

alternatively you can try evaporated milk instead of fresh milk... again don't buy evaporated creamer...

as for sugar, get demerara sugar, has unique smell/taste good for coffee...

Yes that's right, the yellow cap and tin F&N full cream sweetened condensed milk, also comes in 180g squeeze tube. That is my priority choice but sometimes out of stock i would not think twice grabbing the F&N normal sweetened condensed milk. Both work great with whipping cream.

Whipping cream is a lil bit tricky, too much won't do good. Therefore i always keep its ratio about 1/3 of sweetened condensed milk. Like you said whipping cream has 30%+ milk fat so relying it alone as creamer will leave lumps and taste weird, so it must go with sweetened condensed milk.

However whipping cream may not for everyone, some people just don't like their coffee being too creamy and thick. Some don't even want sugar in their coffee!

hey guys, I've been using Nespresso pods for about 2 years now and thinking its time to switch to espresso machine...can't decide between getting one of those cheaper ones on Shopee/Lazada or a second hand Delonghini or Murphy Richards machines...can anyone help advice? Does the branded machines like Delonghini or Murphy Richards last? Oh ya, my budget is around RM300 for the machine.

for 300 I would stick with filter coffee. Get a hand grinder (timemore c3), a hario ceramic dripper and a gooseneck kettle. Realistically any machine bought under rm1k is going to give shitty coffee and that assumes you have a good grinder/bean to begin with..

no issues then, I'll just get one of those second hand machines...but the question remains. Does the branded machines like Delonghini or Morphy Richards last?

depends previous owner abuse it or not... some items like rubber gasket will need changing every few years so can find spart parts or not...

otherwise they should last long enough for you to want to upgrade... or give up... which ever comes first... lol...

good luck

Hi sifu's does anyone know what's the best way to clean out old coffee grinder (KRUPS GVX212) that has been left untouched for over 6/7 months. The coffee grinder was previously gifted by a friend and has already some buildup, after that i didnt use it until recently i unpacked and found it.

For removable parts, i've washed them with soap, but there are still the burr and the outlet and was wondering what is the best what to clean them. Read online that some say to use bread or rice to remove it alongside the smell.

Or is there a place where we can send to just give it a good cleaning. Thanks.

become like "what" and what machine are you using.

that picture, it's just too near to be able to pick out which part it forms.

absolutely not bread and as for rice, it's a hit and miss. logically, it make sense because it should "absorb" the residual oil and then coarse enough to "rinse" out all the stale grinds that's stuck within the burrs but if i never liked the idea of running other stuffs through a grinder for coffee beans.

just get one of those rubber dust blower - it should clean out most of what's left in the burrs and best of all, 0 risks.

Getting the Timemore Sculptor 078S to replace my Eureka Mignon Manuale. Looks like a really promising grinder considering the price (around RM1,300) I am paying for their Kickstarter Launch Day Special (only 3 days to go)!

Excellent review from Kyle Rowsell

Need some advise from the fellow thread members

Currently I am using the delonghi dedica as my daily rig for espresso and latte drinks.

Would upgrading the espresso machine help the better extraction as I am already using freshly grounded beans?

My kitchen counter top is small as I live in a apartment.

Any recommendations? I am looking at this....

https://www.lamarsacoffee.com/product-page/...ppartamento-e61

Would appreciate if can recommend me a value for money machine that is an upgrade from delonghi dedica
