Hi guys, am a newbie. I have 5k budget and would like to get recommendation for the espresso and grinder machine. Your help is much appreciated.

PS. I saw the price WPM KD310 bundled with ZD-17N is very attractive in taobao which is about RM4.7k but with the import duty & SST, the price still worth it? Anyone has any experience of purchasing machine from taobao? What procedure we have to do after the purchase?

Hi guys, can I get a budget recommendation electric grinder? Was looking at gemilai 9009 or the raccea. Seems like the raccea has some retention problems but there are 3rd party 3d printed bellows to help solve it whereas the 9009 doesn't have. Was wondering which of the 2 is better for espresso on a delonghi 230bk.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi guys,

I am planning to buy my first home espresso machine and grinder.

For espresso machine, currently I am considering the following model (Budget below RM3000):
1) WPM KD-210S2
2) WPM KD-270S
3) Gemilai 3200D

There is few question I would like to ask regarding to espresso machine:
1) Based on my own survey between KD-210S and KD-270S, the difference are KD-270S had milk temperature gauge and there is 3 Pre-infusion programs. Is it worth the additional RM 500 for this features?
2) KD-210S and KD-270S are both using twin thermoblock while 3200D was using duel boiler. May I know will there be difference in the quality of espresso and milk frothing?
3) Does anyone know who long does it that for Gemilai 3200D to start up and heat up before ready to pull a shot?

For grinder, currently I am considering (Budget below RM1500):
1) DF64
2) WPM KD-17N
3) Baratza Sette 30

There is few question I would like to ask regarding to grinder:
1) Does anyone know which is better between DF64, KD-17N and Baratza Sette 30 in term of maintenance and quality of grinding?

Thanks

Hi, i am a coffee noob that loves to drink coffee. Can anyone recommend me an instant coffee brand that has best americano or espresso taste? I like strong but not better and smooth when swallow. Don’t like those sour or burn bitter taste. I prefer instant because I don’t have the patience to use machine. All recommendation is greatly appreciated.

The better instant that I tried will be Robert timms and moccona (direct from EU, not the Thai source). But actually the really nice ones are filtered or bags.

quite some time i have been here..glad to see the thread is growing well.
i would recommend the 3200D and DF64 combo..the thermoblock steaming power is too underpower for me..
but they heat up fast (3200D take some time to heat up)
as for the grinder..single dosing grinder is the best for home use.
the sette 30 lack the micro adjustment that u need for espresso

Hario is OK for grinding for french press use, I've been using a Hario Mini Slim for several years - I usually use an aeropress and occasionally a moka pot or an espresso machine. The problem with it is that the lower burr is not well stabilised and it produces uneven sized grounds that cause problems if you're using an espresso machine. There are a couple of modifications that you can make to it that improve the consistency of the grind (I 3d printed a stabiliser). I bought my Hario when I was still new to brewing coffee and I subsequently bought an electric grinder, so now I only use it occasionally.

My recommendation is that if you see yourself using a hand grinder for espresso coffee in the future, then look at some other brand - there a few discussed in this thread. They are probably also more efficient judging by some of the comments.

Hi guys. Am new to the espresso scene. Sorry if my question sounds stupid but where can I get a decent 51mm bottomless portafilter to fit my dedica. I prefer to buy it from a physical store if possible so that I can inspect the item before purchasing.
