Google Poemia depressurized.

Stock runs pressurized portafilters, so user has almost no influence on the quality of the produce.

i don't want complicated stuff ...... just home personal use, so i should use double or single basket for simple shot as i do ?

I think ymeng85 answered your question already.

So the other one, it is not a waste as you're going for a higher concentration per liquid volume.

It's the "extraction" yield that matters.
*
If you say so...
Some say it's 25-35sec extraction others 15 sec with same grind size. Many just state stop the extraction mid way.
U get higher concentration per liquid vol no doubt but if one choose to stop the extraction mid way then one can extract some from the remaining grounds.

Whatever it is so long your pocket can withstand the damage so it. If you care about global resources, world hunger etc.... Tough luck

Using volume is always confusing...
When using ratios, go with weight...so a regular espresso at 1:2 will yield me 36g of espresso from 18g of beans
Ristretto would be a 1:1 so 18g of coffee, 18g of liquid yield which comes up roughly to 30ml (crema is lighter than water)
*
Great point I completely forgotten about the crema
U go by weight not vol? Amount of crema changes as beans age.
Need to read up Google

Yup, hence the more reason you need to go with weight
I was just giving a basic reference but what I experience is that the volume may appear "more" when beans are younger (more crema) and "less" when older for the same yield weight
So the old-school way of using ml can really throw you off as the bean ages

LOL he doesn't. He sources raw ingredients, in this case green coffee beans, from overseas. He then roasts them using his two coffee roasters, at his home. Then he sells them to other coffee lovers. Prices are very reasonable for what you get.

But since you're just starting off, just buy what you can readily get. If you're close to Coffex, go visit their showroom and try the coffee.

Just start with whatever you can find. Along the way you'll let your taste buds decide whether Coffex or Ikea or a random home roaster or any other commercial roaster gives you the best cup.

Hi, I m still beginner to the coffee,
can i ask and see how long does the ground coffee beans can last in order to maintain the freshness ?
and will the coffee quality get affected by the china made coffee grinder machine comparatively to those branded brand one?

Based on your wonderful video I have once again endeavoured to depressurize my Poemia. Bringing down the grind size to visually similar to your video, I have managed to *finally* pull a shot taking longer than 20 sec (about 22 sec) to get 45 ml with a decent *REAL* crema!!! Woo hoo!

HOWEVER ..... I have to admit... don't like the taste!! It tastes strong (expected), bitter (a disappointment) and muddy (a nasty surprise).

I tried increasing the grind size today and compensating by increasing the coffee to 16gm; now the extraction took only 13 sec, crema was low (still there though) and the muddiness was much less... still more bitter than the pressurized shot.

Any pointers?

The PID temperature controller experiment has been put on hold as the unit I got is not according to spec (no alarm function) so I'm returning it. Will share once a decent unit is received.

That is sadly true

Exception however is if you could very quickly seal it up in a vacuum/container and you may get a chance at 24hrs perhaps?

I guess it'll help...but don't think it'll be fast enough...someone with vacuum jar can experiment... smile.gif

PS to riku...we're talking espresso grind...coarse grind for French press will last a bit longer...few hours... On China made grinders, the two super jolly knock off looks OK...nothing else...
