Noob question: why sj over the sette yeah? What's one's advantage over the other?

one is proven commercial grade grinder while the other is new! or i should say just preference lah! coz i make espresso most of the time thus an SJ is a capable >10 years of performance.

Ahh. How about grinding capabilities in terms of consistency in being able to go from espresso to pour over? I recently learnt that not all grinders can do both.

It is cheaper than supper jolly. Super joly 2k. This one around 1.8k

Super jolly is commercial grade, can last longer, but there is some ground retain that need to manually remove with tip of spoon handle

+1
For extra rm200 .... i would throw on the SJ rather then Sette..... biggrin.gif for robust used rclxms.gif

The satte seems appealing with the small footprint and the fluffy non clumpy grind... any comments on the k3 touch?

Anyone interested in my Super Jolly? New grinder incoming.

Optimized for single dosing (chute flap and doser funnel installed).

With the Mini hopper and new burrs, which you don't need to season as it has seen some use, save you some beans. Still left 300+ kg in the burrs.

Bean retention is minimal, ~0.5g. The doser eliminates clumping and there is no need for WDT.

Larger burr size at 64mm, vs sette at 40mm. Larger burr has also of pros. Read http://www.home-barista.com/reviews/titan-...ject-t4126.html

SJ only need to change burr at ~880lbs of coffee.
Sette no info, usually smaller burr need to change sooner

SJ being commercial grade can run 10yrs easily in a busy cafe. Home use can last over 50yrs even if u do 2 shots a day

A lot of discussion here

Do you drink lattes mostly? or like doing latte art? or straight shots?

For straight shots, go for vintage levers (Europiccola). But you need good beans, good grinder and willingness to learn.

For best quality shots under 4k, a used 1964-1973 La Pavoni and a OE Pharos/used SJ or other 64mm grinder will do the trick.

For others, your machine should be good enough, or even a Delonghi EC155.

Budget will be <2.5k
Currently I am just drinking pour over coffee.
At least the espresso machine can deliver kind of stable pressure, and can come out 2 shots per day with no prblem...

I suggest getting a good brew grinder and good beans, and not venture into espresso at the moment. What beans you are using currently?
