Hello all MacBook Pro users!
I am very happy with mine. 2014 version, so far so good... 1.3 years old, 205 cycles and counting. |

QUOTE(carpathia @ Jan 5 2016, 11:24 AM) Well if the unit is being used in a harzadous environment, factory etc, then some sort of body skin would be useful. For heat dissipation, the unibody as designed by apple acts as medium to transfer the heat from the electronics. Obviously a naked body will dissipate heat more efficiently than with a covered body. I myself wouldnt use any coverings and would rather go naked. |

QUOTE(wwoosy @ Jan 6 2016, 01:36 PM) I am using Western Digital Personal Cloud. It comes in 1Te, 3Te and 6Te. I opted for the 3Te. I have been using it for the past 6 months and so foar it is running fine. i can back up automatically and can also keep all my photos, videos, docs on it and hooked up to my home network. Of course if you have fast internet then it would be very good as streamming is also possible without any glitching. FYI my home is using 2Mbps and it is still no issues. |

Data transfer from laptop to wd personal cloud storage is slow. and it can only be done via network (wired or wireless). So the transfer speed relies a lot a lot on your LAN speed, such as your wireless router maximum transfer speed and worst part is no USB connection can be used to transfer the data from PC into the cloud storage and it takes super long time to download data out from the storage. It will be a disaster if u need to transfer a huge amount of data onto it.I have one 2TB, it is good to use as a steaming server for video etc but it is bad when it needs to transfer data in and out from it, |

As reference, 5gb of data takes roughly 3 minutes wirelessly. When wired, ie rmbp hooked up to router will half its time. I think for my setup, it is exceptable. But I do remember when I first got the cloud, it took alot of time to backup all the files for the first time. Its considerably faster on subsequent backups though.I have one 2TB, it is good to use as a steaming server for video etc but it is bad when it needs to transfer data in and out from it, |

The magsafe adapter on my macbook retina just failed. Disappointed with it since its only a year old and looks brand new. I hardly bring the charger around, usually just stays in the same place. My last macbook white charger lasted me about 2 years+. Expected more from this one.

Yeah I installed windows 10 on it and it was crazy, but lucky for me windows XP serves everything I need and it only takes about 2GB |

Now i also using the Jetdrive Lite 128GB became the greatest bottleneck that limits the usability of the device similar to 16GB iPhone. Resell value is low too for 128GB version of MacBook. |

Wow pretty shitty repair from Mac City 1 utama.
Received my rMBP last week after sending in for repair. Less than a week received it back after they found: 1) SSD Card Port failed (Replaced I/O board) 2) System Error (Advice to reformat hard disk) So after 2 days of using my returned rMBP, the SAME PROBLEM happened again! Here are some nice pretty colourful pics to share... ![]() ![]() ![]() So i did a diagnostic test and got this, which i'm sure is not the reason for the colourful screens, but still... battery problems after 5 months?? FFS ![]() Sent back my rMBP to Mac City for repair and wasn't too happy. The counter staff wasn't that friendly and insisted previously there was a system error which requires a reformat and i didn't allow them to reformat hence the problem. RIGHT, like i'd pay them RM150 just to reformat when i could do it myself. Just called them again on the status and i was told that my Logic Board had problems and they just ordered a replacement which will take a week. Seriously? They didn't detect that during the 1st service? What kind of sloppy diagnostic service did they conduct the first time? Not happy with Apple so far... had been using Dell notebooks for more than a decade and all my notebooks last me at least 4 years without any issues while a 5 month old rMBP is giving me crap.. hello guys. new macbook pro user here!
so far, im getting a good experience with this sexy thing. from the very start of booting my macbook, i already amazed with its speed. damn weh 3 seconds to get into login. not gonna happen in Windows platform. haha Casual usage like web browsing, watching movies, listening to music while doing my work, are quite smooth. Later I will try how this macbook handle development tools and adobe stuff like android studio, localhost, photoshop, AI, etc. as a new macbook user, there are couple of things that i want to know: 1. is it safe if I installed cracked apps? (appdn.net, cmacapps.com, macbed.com) 2. Do I need any antivirus software installed on my macbook? 3. Is it a must to install utility, optimizer apps like cleanmymac? 4. should i buy applecare? is it worth it? I have googled those questions. just want to know opinions from you guys too. QUOTE(ionStorm @ Jan 13 2016, 05:52 PM) Mac City repair is total shite but we don't have much choices. You could try The Good Guys at Centrepoint. But they are not under authorised apple service center right?QUOTE(INGfusion @ Jan 13 2016, 05:57 PM) i recommend you send it to northpoint midvalley they have very good service. Thanks for the info, pray to God I won't have to send in for another service after this or I'll raise hell with Apple support to replace a new rMBP...my friend send his to them for fix screen coating problem, they even replace speaker as well after they finish diagnostic test and found out speaker has problem also. |

QUOTE(Lego Warfare @ Jan 13 2016, 04:42 PM) Wow pretty shitty repair from Mac City 1 utama. If u deal with apple care online directly it will be ok, but deal with dealer, good luck.Received my rMBP last week after sending in for repair. |

We need to get together and lodge a formal complaint against Mac City. Get Apple to drop them as an AASP because they're doing such a piss poor job.

Buyer can get it at 4500-4700 which is almost 17+% off. One's loss is one's gain, it is not surprised with the number but more of the offered price. I myself too lost close to 16+% for my 5 months old sold mid 2015 rMBP 15-inch. Based on past history, apple is always selling the same or cheaper price for the better. So it is either one wait to buy 2016 MacBook at full price or get a used or refurbished MacBook at cheaper or even wait till the 2016 announced for a further drop price for second hand to grab one. I am not rich.however, either one just love apple so to pay the premium with no choice. One has many other choi ex out there too. This post has been edited by westlife: Jan 17 2016, 03:57 PM |

I'm user of rmbp13' mid 2014 - spec was 128gb + 8gb ram - lately was feeling to upgrade my laptop - either adding ssd or ram or whatsoever - but after check it's unable to do it -
I was very satisfy with the rmbp - but due to unable to upgrade was thinking to change it to razor, however due to the price is not that cheap will planning to test it - anyone could advise where can I test this razor blade QHD+. Would like to get more comment on this - whether to change or not. The reason why want to change is - there isn't any specific reason to change it - maybe is just to try out different product Another weakness of this razer: doesn't have SD card slot This post has been edited by Nicklly: Jan 20 2016, 07:32 PM Attached thumbnail(s) |

Another update on my crapbook...
Received it back yesterday afternoon after the 2nd service (replacing logic board) Later in the evening, my screen suddenly blacked out! Was watching a video and everything is playing in the background except the screen is just blackly lighted! Forced restart more than 10 times and screen remains black, no Apple logo or startup bar. Had enough and called Apple Toll Free to request a new replacement. The support was quite nice and understanding, and told me they would send in a request for a replacement for me. I just have to send it back one last time to Mac Shitty service center for them to diagnostic and confirm there is an issue with my MacBook and the Apple Support will contact Apple Store to send me a replacement. Hopefully Mac Shitty will be able to at least do something right for once and i'll get my new replacement soon... Considering selling a new rMBP once i get a replacement too after this unpleasant experience. |

Hi all,
I'm planning to get a new MBP within next 1 month or so. Are there any new models coming soon that I should wait out for? Looking to purchase 13" model from Apple website because I want to upgrade the ram. I've learned that retina models are not upgradable. Also noticed that current 13" models on the shelf are 1 year old, perhaps an update is around the corner? Appreciate advices from all thanks! QUOTE(nles @ Jan 21 2016, 11:25 PM) Not too sure if there are any of those repair shops located around the Klang area, I know most of them are located in PJ. Normally what you can do is drop it off at the center, it will take them some time to check (maybe 30mins to 60mins depending on the traffic) and give you a quote. Up to you to decide whether you want to fix it with them. I went to the one at the E@Curve in Mutiara Damansara when I had an issue with my speaker but they found that it wasn't the speaker fault but just a loose wiring. |

Just did a few searches and reading,
1. MBP 13" (broadwell) with 16GB ram & 256GB SSD costs about RM7K 2. MBP 15" (haswell) costs about RM8k (16GB & 256GB), but some shops are starting to clear stocks at 7K+ 3. New MBPs should be Skylake but release could be March-June 2016, expected retail price should be similar to current lineup. Dilemma.. I need a new MBP by March arghh.. QUOTE(netboy @ Jan 22 2016, 10:54 AM) Just did a few searches and reading, i'm confident the price will hit 8k..1. |

QUOTE(Mavik @ Jan 22 2016, 07:30 PM) Dual core i5 broadwell vs quad core i7 haswell, use mainly for video editing. I'm undecided. 13"'s portability is definitely a win, but I don't mind the extra tad bit of weight and screen if the processor power is useful for my work. |

Initially got it for video editing purposes. scrubbing through 1/4 resolution laggy as f*ck. Then I decided to buy the MacBook 12" for fun to try out the Core M processor. Scrubbing through 1/2 resolution is even better than the 13" base model lol. Edits 1080p fine BUT renders painfully slow. I run out of battery before i finish rendering. But I loved the portability. Used it for almost 6 months. Now i finally settled on the 15" and fully spec-ed out. LOVE the 4K edits, playback is smooth, scrubbing through the timeline was a breeze. No lags and my playback is full resolution in native 4K. However, the render times are marginally better. Not a whole lot but just 30 seconds to 45 seconds better. |

Anyway I'm already leaning towards the 15". Would rather ease my work and sacrifice some portability. |

But 16GB RAM is definitely something nice to have. |

Oh if you want for video editing purposes, I would recommend the 15" Macbook Pro. The 13" just doesn't cut it, also the extra screen size will go a long way as well. Also get 16Gb of RAM for video editing. 8Gb of RAM is not even, even when using simple tools like iMovie. QUOTE(remix2040 @ Jan 27 2016, 05:36 PM) I was on After Effects for years. And now I switched up to Premiere lol. Premiere 4K playback is fine as hell. Haha I recall building a monster (desktop) for AE early 2014. I remember OpenCL wasn't ready yet because we decided not to go for a Mac Pro and I had to have HW acceleration. I suspect this resulted in your poor experience.I believe if you were to try a MBP 13 with AE/PP + OpenCL, you might find the RT performance on par with the MB 12 since they have almost the same graphics performance, with the added advantage of faster render times. The only thing better than the MBP 13 is the MBP 15 with discrete graphics. |

The only thing better than the MBP 13 is the MBP 15 with discrete graphics. Perhaps as you pointed out, I was using Ae CC 2014 July Build which probably may or may not have OpenCL enabled. But by right, it should have. However, at the time, I do recall, Ae CC 2014 July Build popping up an error every now and then. But having tested the MacBook Pro 13" and the MacBook 12", the render times of the MacBook 12" did a little better. 30 seconds to 45 seconds faster, rendering a 3 minute 4K edit. I was using the same Ae CC 2014 July Build. I only did a TM backup and restored it on another. Of course the 15" would do better haha. I haven't rendered anything on my MacBook since I got it. But I already pieced my clips together but haven't done any cc or cg just yet. Too busy to edit now aha. |

Latest update:
Finally! I'll be getting a brand new replacement rMBP. Yay, sleek and new - no more dents/scratches. After 1 month without a laptop I'll have to wait another 2 weeks for a new laptop... |

QUOTE(Lego Warfare @ Jan 13 2016, 04:42 PM) Wow pretty shitty repair from Mac City 1 utama. Reinstall OS X cost 150MYR?...damn expensive.I normally do to my customer and I only charge 30 to 50 depending on problem (kernel panic, system boot failure, etc)Received my rMBP last week after sending in for repair. Not happy with Apple so far... had been using Dell notebooks for more than a decade and all my notebooks last me at least 4 years without any issues while a 5 month old rMBP is giving me crap.. |

yea, ridiculous pricing (but in-line with all Apple's products prices anyway)
i was offered to be able to pay-upgrade my replacement to higher end specs/models, so at least there was a flexibility lol |

I was wondering, if we had issues with our Mac, do they repair or replace 1 to 1?

Skylake Mac Notebooks May See Staggered Launch in 2016, Led by MacBook and 13" MacBook Pro
Thursday January 28, 2016 7:55 am PST by Joe Rossignol Apple is expected to refresh its MacBook lineup in 2016 with Intel's faster Skylake processors and Thunderbolt 3 with USB-C, and supply chain sources now indicate the updated notebooks may see a staggered launch throughout the year. The company's manufacturing partners are expected to start producing new 12-inch MacBook and 13-inch MacBook Pro models around late March or early April, followed by 15-inch MacBook Pro models in the third quarter, according to the sometimes-reliable Taiwanese website DigiTimes. Retina-MacBook-USB-C If accurate, new 12-inch MacBook and 13-inch MacBook Pro models could debut at Apple's rumored March media event, alongside the new 4-inch iPhone, iPad Air 3, and Apple Watch updates, or at WWDC, likely scheduled for mid-June. Smaller updates could also be announced at any time via press release. The larger 15-inch MacBook Pro may not be launched until after WWDC, however, as the third quarter translates to between July and September. While that seems questionable, Apple may elect to announce a new 15-inch MacBook Pro at WWDC and begin shipping the notebook later in the year. Last year, Apple refreshed the 13-inch MacBook Pro in March, but its 15-inch sibling was not updated until May. For this reason, the 13-inch model is classified as Early 2015, and the 15-inch model is Mid 2015. Both notebooks received Force Touch trackpads, faster flash storage, longer battery life, and improved graphics. The Early 2015 13-inch MacBook Pro is based on Intel's newer Broadwell chip architecture, while the 15-inch model still has older Haswell architecture. Since then, Intel has announced Skylake chips appropriate for the 13-inch MacBook Pro in September and 15-inch MacBook Pro earlier this week. Given that Skylake chips have been announced for both the 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Pro, there does not appear to be any reason for Apple to stagger the release of its notebooks this year. But, perhaps in line with its 2015 release cycle, Apple may plan to give the current 15-inch MacBook Pro a longer shelf life before replacing it. Intel also announced Skylake chips appropriate for the 12-inch MacBook and MacBook Airs throughout 2015, so it is likely we will see Mac updates across the board over the coming months. The report also claims a new iMac will be released in 2016, but an update is unlikely until later in the year. |

My safari become very laggy after updated from 10.11.2 to 10.11.3. The lag is very noticeable even there's input lag when I'm trying to type something. Anybody having the same problem? I'm using rMBP 13" mid 2014 model and I'm pretty sure my processor and memory is not under heavy load.

To be very frank, I still prefer a Windows based machine when working on MS Office applications especially like Outlook, Excel and Powerpoint. I am using MS Office 365 on my rMBP and there are still some issues that needs to be fixed! On a side note, open a sales thread to see if anyone is interested. If none within 1-2 weeks then i'll probably just stick with the rMBP.. In terms of application multitasking, I felt it easier to work on my Macbook Pro instead. What I like very much about the Mac more are for my photography related applications such as Lightroom and Photoshop. In terms of the multitasking at work, I use a combination of Telegram, Slack, Wunderlist, Google Drive, Office Applications to manage my projects and get updates and deliver updates to stakeholders as well as preparing reports and giving presentations. With all of these apps opened up at once, I felt it easier and smoother on the Mac. Just my own two cents. My colleague who owns the Surface Pro 4 says the same on his machine! But then again I paid RM4k for mine and he paid more than RM8k for his so yeah.... |

QUOTE(Xiia0Ban @ Jan 31 2016, 01:27 PM) My safari become very laggy after updated from 10.11.2 to 10.11.3. The lag is very noticeable even there's input lag when I'm trying to type something. Anybody having the same problem? I'm using rMBP 13" mid 2014 model and I'm pretty sure my processor and memory is not under heavy load. That's weird, I am using the same Macbook but no issues with Safari at all. |

My force touch trackpad has an additional like a loose bearing sound on click whenever the MBP feels warm. Sound is faint, the trackpad still works but it happens very persistently at the same lower right area. However it disappears whenever I do second stage force click on the area a few times. Does anyone of you experience the same problem?

I owned both rumba and surface pro 3.
Photoshop, lightroom stuff, i do at my macbook. Office at my surface pro. If I want to watch something at my bedside, then it's surface pro. I still don't find surface pro touchscreen responsive enough, and always you gotta switch between tablet or desktop mode. Sometimes is better at desktop, sometimes tablet. Really got to depend on usage. But now my speaker crackling on macbook, so only watch movie on surface pro. |

QUOTE(Mavik @ Jan 31 2016, 02:36 PM) To be very frank, I still prefer a Windows based machine when working on MS Office applications especially like Outlook, Excel and Powerpoint. I am using MS Office 365 on my rMBP and there are still some issues that needs to be fixed! Yes me too, I prefer to do all the office suite in windows. But I prefer MacBook hardware. So 95% of time I am on boot amp. In terms of application multitasking, I felt it easier to work on my Macbook Pro instead. What I like very much about the Mac more are for my photography related applications such as Lightroom and Photoshop. Does the rMBP screen has some sort of coating layer? I noticed there are like "scratches" on the screen, which I think it looks more like the coating wearing off. Any of you guys face this issue?

Anyway you can always get a dedicated adapter for your 2 pin to 3 pin, it would be cheaper. |

Might I suggest hunting around Imbi plaza. I know there is a coupple of shops there that deals in notebook accessories. U might get lucky and score a 2nd hand which would suffice. |

just bought a new macbook pro 13" early 2015 model (i7 proc, 1tb ssd, 16gb ram) and noticed the battery life is very far from the 10 hours battery life as claimed.
Its currently at 84% with 5 hours of usage remaining with only normal web browsing. Is that normal? |

I wanted to get an external drive for my mac and also noticed this with WD products, in the end I got the WD cloud storage and it has worked well since. Even installation was quite easy for a non-it person as myself. |

No difference one, it is just preformatted with the file system that can be used in Mac directly. U can just buy the normal one and format urself. It saves u money by doing so. |

QUOTE(carpathia @ Feb 24 2016, 11:30 AM) Actually WD hdd has the lowest failure rate among all hdd brands if im not mistaken. Yup, I do agree with this. I too had very bad experince with seagate drives previously. I had 2 x 2.5" external drives and 1x3.5" that went kaput on me few years back. Now I have WD cloud drive and an external, which so far is running fine.Seagate has the highest so i avoid them like the plague , based on personal experience and overall data on the internet |

I for one is very happy with it (mine is the 2014 model) although there is some issue with the screen anti reflective coating. But for me it does not affect the operation so I'm good. But everything else is tip top.Just a note, ensure you go for the min hard of 256Gb or more. and 16Gb ram is best for best experience. All the best in your choices. |

Any comment about the non-retina? Quite frankly, the 128Gb version will not be enough for you. Furthermore the mac run better on the 256Gb version (faster) than the 128Gb. Alot of owners who bought the 128Gb version is having regrets. It is unfortunate that the prices now is very high compared to the last years pricing mainly due to our falling ringgit. Maybe if you are lucky to secure a 2nd hand unit, at least the will be a lot of savings there. As for retina display, having used it i dont think I can revert back to non retina. Even using a PC with a much larger LCD display also couldnt match the colours and clarity that a retina display can provide. So my advise is to save up and then get it. And be aware that there is noway to upgrade the ssd or ram. |

Upgrading SSD is possible. Go search on eBay for OEM Mac SSD and followed by the model number of your macbook. They are extracted from laptop from the same model previously and refurbished and resold at a hell of a lot cheaper price. A 1TB PCIe SSD is about 1.1k USD and that translates to about 5k ringgit with shipping. A 256 or 512 ranges from 500 ringgit to 1k.
Try at your own discretion. Voids warranty indefinitely once you open up the bottom plate. |

The main reason I want Thunderbolt 3 is that its USB type C. I'm using the Nexus 6P. C to C's got some serious transfer speeds but sadly the Nexus 6P only has a USB 2.0 instead of a 3.0 or 3.1. C toC is a nice thing to have instead of the A to C which charges the phone horrendously slow If anyone wanna buy my macboook pro 15" 8gb memory 256 SSD (late 2014 Retina), we should talk |

Guys, need some advice,
I have been planning to get a Macbook Pro for some time now. Waiting for the new one. However its been a really long wait. Hopefully we hear something during the apple event in March. The thing is, this new macbook will price around 6k give or take. With this price, there are tons of windows based laptops that will far surpass the macbook's performance. You get really good graphics, SSD options even at half the price. So my question is , is it really worth getting a mac? Because with a windows laptop with top specs, i can game easily( not my priority ), will be able to edit videos, the usual office documents. Thank you for your time. Cheers. |

I remember this issue when I first received my rMBP. It is very awkward at first as both the left and right USB sometimes ok sometimes not ok (reading). Then I restarted the rMBP. Its woud then be able to detect it. This issue was intermittent but after a few restarts, the USB works well. Same goes with external drives etc. At first it cannot detect. Do a restart its ok after that. Try that. |

Once all the drivers loaded, there wont be any issues. Only earlier days got issue on mine, now no issues. But on the other hand if it still persist, then might as well send it in for diagnosis. |

I'm currently on OSX 10.11.3 on my rMBP early 2015. I noticed that if i use my macbook on clamshell mode with thunderbolt video out, my internet will slow to a crawl and very often time out. But once I remove the video cable and use my macbook normally (non clamshell mode), my internet connection goes back to normal.
Checked on apple forums, some ppl complain the same problem. Just wondering anyone here facing the same issue? |

Guys, I have a macbook pro 13 retina.. i have few problems with the keyboard, my right arrow key is a bit loosen, when compare with left arrow key, right arrow can obviously have more loud sound. My spacebar slightly lower than my "C V B N M" key, slightly lower than my both "command" key too.
Is there anyone can tell me is this normal? I just bought for 3 weeks only. |

Anyway, will try out setting up a wifi repeater or get a powerline network adapter. Anybody here uses 3rd party USB to Ethernet port adapter with their Macbook? |

Using mbpr 13" 2015 256gb for a week now. Felt very satisfied. Off plug hours is like crazy. Can use 2-4 days in single charge for documents + light internet + songs. 1-2 days for heavy video editing. Now use never got the charge percentage lower than 50% in one day use(assume you charge it daily)
Although imovie takes a hella space 10 gb(but with 500 pictures imported for a movie project) One nice buy 6.5k worth every penny |

very disappointed for the little efforts Apple puts on Mac. While they keep refreshing the iOS devices, the Mac line-up was very outdated compared with competitors.

Anyone here has rMBP and a thunderbolt to DVI-D adapter?
My macbook crashes when I connect it to the monitor while the lid is closed. After I wake up the macbook and then open the lid, the macbook will crash to the login screen. I asked Apple Support and they don't know what is causing it and asked me to bring it to the service center. Anyone can help me test this issue to see if it's just or does it affect anyone else. Thanks! |

Do you resize the external monitor? My monitor is 2K, I used a tweak to rescale it to display "retina" 1281x720 as since Yosemite, Apple forgot about a bug that prevent monitors to be rescaled like it used to be before in Mavericks. I was able to reproduce the error consistently and created a new user to test it too. |

By that time, apple singapore is more expensive than apple malaysia. now it is no longer the case. The only apple product that is cheaper in malaysia now is only apple watch. nothing else. |

Picked up an MBPR 15. It's definitely a little heavy when carrying it around, but i'm willing to put up with the weight considering how lovely it is to use. If they ever come out with a lighter version i'd pick it up in a heartbeat.

If that's really happening, it'll be a short lived transference from my MBP13" for 5 months to a Surface Pro 4 for 4 months and again to a MBP13" 2016 lol.But i'll be very skeptical on how they'll be able to deal with heat management in a similar 12" slim body type. Fitting a fan would be very cramped, plus it'll be doubtful if they can fit in heat sinks as well. Considering the 2015 13" version didn't handle heat too nicely, i'd be wary of stressing a slimmer 13" MBP... |

sometimes my 2015 MBPr running osx 10.11 will automatic "reboot". so far i've noticed that this will happen when im playing songs on spotify through my bluetooth speakers.
im never in front of the laptop when this happens. only if after the music stop playing suddenly then i go and check. when i hit the keyboard key, the screen will come on with the reboot logon page (with shutdown & reboot options at the bottom) instead of the locked screen logon page which doesn't have the shutdown & reboot options. all previously opened app/software will be closed (just like a reboot). is this because of the os crashing? because i never see it happen in front of my eyes, and i don't get any warning message after it has rebooted (eg. saying error occurred etc.). I read online that usually if os crash, you'll get a message after the reboot? still new to osx currently testing it without opening spotify. |

I have a question.
Would it be cheaper to buy Macs at Langkawi or Labuan (Tax Free zone) since import duties and GST are excluded from price. |

Got a question here :
My rMBP I think have display issue (hardware). When turned on, its showing black screen but when connected to HDMI it works in Safe Boot mode. I still haven't claim my screen for the staingate issue. So yesterday I sent to the service center in Megan Avenue II, and I told them I want to change my screen on the quality program for the staingate and I also told the display problem. She said if it's hardware problem, then you need to pay for the screen. If its not, then we change the screen for free. Isn't the staingate issue different from the hardware problem? If they insist of replacing my screen for free, can I tell them to still fix the staingate issue (which will still resort to changing a new screen)? |

This probably has been discussed before, the warranty of my wife mbp 13 retina has just expired and I just found out that some parts of her screen has some coating damage. I have no idea why she didn't tell me, she said it was okay for her. Anyway, checking the internet, it seems to be a common problem on some batches. Has anybody with the same problem with expired warranty successfully ask for it to be fixes foc?
Here is how it looks, for me it is pretty bad, for he it is okay This post has been edited by wiraone: Apr 9 2016, 08:53 PM |

I've asked my wife how she clean up the screen, she said she used the microfibre cloth (the same I used for mine) and with a warm water. No chemical involved. Reading the problems, she is not alone and those affected said the same thing, no chemical used for cleaning up the screen.

Hey guys, just started to learn how to use Macbook Pro. This unit belongs to my gf and she didn't use it much often. Since my PC is died and i think wouldn't harm me if i learn to use Mac.
By the way, if i want to format or reset to factory mode for my gf's Macbook Pro (Unit manufactured in 2010), how to do it? Since she complained the machine a bit slow already. The Macbook Pro OS now is OS X Yosemite. Can upgrade to OS El Capitan? |

QUOTE(PPZ @ Apr 22 2016, 09:09 AM) Hey guys, just started to learn how to use Macbook Pro. This unit belongs to my gf and she didn't use it much often. Since my PC is died and i think wouldn't harm me if i learn to use Mac. Can download "Install El Capitan" from the App Store. If you want to reformat, you still need the original file. But I think "Install El Capitan" will suffice in formatting it. Just do it in one go.By the way, if i want to format or reset to factory mode for my gf's Macbook Pro (Unit manufactured in 2010), how to do it? Since she complained the machine a bit slow already. The Macbook Pro OS now is OS X Yosemite. Can upgrade to OS El Capitan? |

If I'm not mistaken, you initiate a wipe for your drive and just plug in the EC USB bootable drive and just install it from there on. Quick tip. If you're on the beta channel for OS X updates, DO NOT downgrade. Stay on the same build and unenrolll yourself from the beta channel and wait for a public release. You will experience crash in Photos Library that cannot be recovered. Not even a time machine backup can bring you back. |

QUOTE(PPZ @ Apr 25 2016, 08:31 AM) ahhh.. even i dont format my computer, i still can install El Capitan right? I scare my MBP (2010 version) run slow on that software. Yes you can. You can download the "Install El Capitan" from the App Store and follow the link here and just shut down your Mac and boot it up in recovery and install it to the same partition you're trying to upgrade. |

No one knows the release date actually. But most ppl hope for the WDC in June. Since it is not too far away, no harm waiting. But u will need to prepare to really wait as apple's move is never easy to predict.Btw, not much ppl discuss about MacBook air? And I heard that apple planning stop produce or release new model of MacBook air? Izzit true? Thanks If u need a MacBook urgently, have a second plan too. MacBook air has the poorest display as of now.if not due to the low cost, think not much ppl will choose air. MacBook pro has better display and better spec everything except weight. Hope they remove the air line and just keep the MacBook and MacBook pro. And also make the MacBook pro light as air but retain its power. Apple is said to kill off the Air line. The MacBook is the clear choice in terms on looks and feasibility. You want retina display? The MacBook. You want light and easy? The Macbook. You want other colors besides the boring old silver like the billion other MBA and MBP? The MacBook is your choice. However, the only thing you're giving up. Is the performance. Core M vs Core i5. Btw, not much ppl discuss about MacBook air? And I heard that apple planning stop produce or release new model of MacBook air? Izzit true? Thanks Most would say only one USB C is a deal breaker. But I don't see it. I see it as a godsend. I have a Nexus 6P and it comes with a USB C port. I can just plug my phone straight in with a C to C cable. I don't mind carrying an adapter to expand my ports. For the weight and size reduction, I see it as a good trade off. |

QUOTE(takenaga @ Jan 13 2016, 05:49 PM) hello guys. new macbook pro user here! 1. I think it's safe because I had used my MacBook Pro for 2 years with some cracked app and it still working fine so far, im getting a good experience with this sexy thing. from the very start of booting my macbook, i already amazed with its speed. damn weh 3 seconds to get into login. not gonna happen in Windows platform. haha Casual usage like web browsing, watching movies, listening to music while doing my work, are quite smooth. 2. No need 3. Not a must but cleanmymac really a good tool to clear those cache or trash from ur Mac since we all know the storage on our Mac are very limited. I clean it once a month. 4. Apple care is a must, seriously. I had an experience where my original adapter cord is torn and I still able to claim back a new one under Apple care warranty. Some money is worth paying. My uncle is working in Apple service Singapore and he told me that repairing a screen is very expensive so please Apple care |

Hi guys, I have a question regarding my Razer Orochi mouse connectivity.
It was ok to connect to my MBP, until i had a clean install on my El Capitan. I have to pair every time it disconnected (with the 4 button pressed until blue LED blinking). Previously there was not having any problem, it will connect automatic when i turn on the switch on my Orochi. Anyone know what's wrong with this? No problem with my Magic Mouse and etc. |

Hi all,
I am currently using macbook pro 2015 with latest El Capitan. Now looking remote presenter with laser from Targus or Logitech. But from my survey at All IT, not all remote presenter support Mac OS. There a few, but only support Mac 10.4 to 10.8. Just wondering anyone here using remote presenter and pair with El Capitan? If yes, mind to share the brand and model? Thank you. |

Hello everyone,
I've got a question for the Macbook Pro. A friend of mine is selling his Macbook Pro 13 retina, A1502 mid-2014 model. The specs are the basic one; 2.6GHz Intel i5, 128gb SSD - proprietary PCIe (WTF), 8GB ram - non upgradable, soldered RAM, Intel Iris Graphic Processor. Warranty just finished. He's asking for RM2800. Is it a good deal? Can you expert provide some opinion? |

Try Tom Bihn, they made great bag. Very durable materials therefore long lasting I might say. I'm using one myself, up till today. I'm carrying my trusted office workstation, Dell m4800 daily with it. That's one huge laptop. Will add more accessories for the new acquired rMBP. Depending on the setup you choose, there's a lot of room for customization. Once you go Tom Bihn, you'll never use any other bag. Lol.

Btw want to ask. Is the SD Card slot in the Mac the same with other devices? I mean can I just get a standard Sandisk + Adapter and slot it in? Rather then get the adapter from Apple themself. Thanks |

I enabled FileVault on my rMBP which is running on El Capitan and the encryption process is paused all the time. I cannot turn off the FileVault unless the encryption process is completed but the encryption process is stuck there. Any safe solutions for that as I dont want to loss any important data?
